FunForge previews more for ZNA
FunForge has some more details up about ZNA, their upcoming cooperative survival horror board game, including the launch date for their Kickstarter. Expect to go live on December 17th.
The game takes place in Boston in the year 2025. A mysterious fog has rolled over the city, transforming and warping all it touches. This fog is an ever-changing part of the game, moving and effecting things as the players progress along. However, the players can fight back by finding special chemicals when defeating enemies. These chemicals can be used to heal themselves, or alter the fog in certain areas, or even control enemies.
Also included is an App for the game that will give in-game information and speed up game play, as well as offer special bonuses for players such as being able to take control of mechanical enemy drones.
FunForge is hoping to start with 12 scenarios in the box and come out with more as the campaign goes on.
The game will have minis… big minis, ranging from 35mm all the way up to 80mm.
From them toyou:
A COOPERATIVE SURVIVAL BOARDGAME IN A UNIQUE POST-APOCALYPTIC SETTING
The action takes place in Boston, in 2025.
The city has been struck by a storm of dark smoke that the inhabitants will later call “the Fog”.
This Fog destroys everything in its path, leaving behind it a world plunged into chaos. Nobody knows the exact extent of the damage. The Fog concentrates as it settles over the areas it hits, making them dangerous, almost impassable, and infested with threatening mutants.
Indeed, the vast majority of the population seems to have been infected by the Fog. Those who were not killed have been contaminated to the point of transforming into violent and ruthless creatures with superhuman abilities. Their only motivation appears to be the constant hunt of the survivors.
SURVIVING THE FOG, UNPREDICTABLE AND EVER CHANGING
Not only is the Fog deadly but it is also alive. At the beginning of a game, the chosen scenario indicates which map tiles are “not contaminated”, “somewhat contaminated”, or “highly contaminated”. But the Fog’s contamination level evolves during the game, forcing the players to adapt and react to its fluctuations. The more a tile’s contamination level increases, the more dangerous this area becomes, with a higher number of mutants and stronger enemies.
CHEMICAL COCKTAILS SUITING ANY PURPOSE
Defeating enemies enables survivors to find chemical resources that can be mixed up into concoctions for various uses. Three different reagents allow players to: decontaminate areas; heal or decontaminate themselves; attack, freeze, confuse, or even control mutants!
THE EPIC STORY, BUT ALWAYS FRESH
ZNA is designed to offer players a large variety of choices and configurations. Discover the origins of the Fog, what happens to the survivors, and much, much more in 12 original scenarios. Between campaign chapters, characters obtain experience bonuses, and can trade them for upgrades or stronger weapons.
Numerous double-sided map tiles provide nearly infinite modular boards, even allowing players to build their own maps and scenarios. The various game objectives and difficulties bring challenge and motivation to try again and again.
AN EVEN MORE IMMERSIVE EXPERIENCE WITH AUGMENTED REALITY
Compatible with both smartphones and tablets, the ZNA app brings a new dimension to the game experience. More than a simple App, this Companion’s features include: game help, interactive scenarios, a map editor, storytelling, and more!
Players can also hack Drones sent by BioCorp, a megacorporation, that has monopolized the chemistry and medicine industries for years, and scan map tiles using the augmented reality technology! This enhanced gameplay feature provides even more immersion on top of a new way of playing the game.
A PLETHORA OF FIRST-CLASS MATERIAL
As a publisher, Funforge takes great care in selecting the best materials and in providing incredible graphic design for their games, in order to offer the best quality possible. In addition to the 40 illustrated and reversible map tiles, the help sheets, individual player boards, numerous punchboard tokens, engraved special dice, and more than 200 cards (events, equipment, objectives), ZNA offers 80 very detailed, high-quality figurines, ranging from 35mm to 80mm tall!
