Forge World has the new Chaos Decimator Daemon Engine up on their website.

They also have some metal doors. But to be fair, I’m guessing more people are going to “ooh” and “aah” at the giant walking death-machine more than some bulkhead doors. But you never know, I guess.

From the announcement:

The Decimator is a brutal and hellish creation; the essence of a creature of the Warp bound and fettered within the armoured bulk of a bipedal war machine. Great slab-shoulders of tainted and defiled ceramite and adamantium, and a low-set ‘head’ give the Decimator a characteristic hunched posture which exudes brooding and vicious menace.

That looks like a Khador ‘jack that’s been co-opted by a 40K Chaos army.

    • Yeah, big body tiny legs.. Matches the PP Warjack formula.

    • blackfang

      Nope, it’s not comically disproportioned.

  • cama

No it doesn’t. It looks like a Chaos Decimator. That is all.

    • Veritas

      Are you being facetious?

      • cama

No. I really don’t think it looks anything like any PP kit. Seriously.

        • Bellygrub

Looks more like a scaled down Titan then it does a PP jack.

        • metalsifter

Except for the boiler and metal grating on the back, which looks like Warjack boilers.

Also the overall shape looks like a Warjack

          • Bellygrub

That’s not a boiler. That’s the hatch where the Daemon is entered into the machine. Which is why it’s chained shut. Same as on the Defiler.

          • metalsifter

Which looks just like the boilers on the backs of Warjacks. hence “It looks like a Warjack”

          • Bellygrub

And Warjacks look like tiny titans…hence it’s a scaled down Titan.

  • Urlock Gaur

It kind of does look like it has a Warmachine flavor to it. Looks like GW is trying to tap the PP fan crowd now. The big GW is a little jealous of Warmachine maybe?

  • Kolonel K

The only thing it really looks like is overpriced crap.

    • Urlock Gaur

If only it were Finecast as well, then the crappiness would be complete.

      • cama

I really don’t understand how Forgeworld can make good resin, but GW utterly fouls up something that should be simple.

        Failcast!

        • KelRiever

Forgeworld makes good resin casts? LOL!

          • Bellygrub

Some of the worst resin I’ve ever recieved has been from Forgeworld.

I’ve also never recieved a bad Finecast model (out of 5).

hmmm geee big body little legs yup PP/warmachine…

oh wait! big body little legs 90’s GW dreads had that – the titans had that too in the 80’s.

looks like it is what it is. big tops little legs nothin new for anyone.

man this GW v. PP is getting old – apples to oranges people

    • cama

Exactly! GW was there 20 years ago.

    • There’s a difference between a box with sticks that have platforms attached and a humanoid robot that has that almost diamond shaped upper body and actual humanoid lower body. The outline of a Warjack is unmistakable and this is pretty darn close.
You can’t even begin to say that the design of a classic GW dreadnought looks like this.

My comment was made simple as a bit of a joke. You over-simplified it further to take it out of context and it’s not appreciated.

      • Soulfinger

Not taking things out of context or anything, but as 4tonmantis said, “The outline . . . is pretty darn close . . . [to] the design of a classic GW dreadnought, [and Privateer Press is] a bit of a joke. [It’s] appreciated.” At least, that’s how FOX news would have reported it.

But seriously folks, how about those metal doors!!!! OOOH! AAHHHH!

      • surprize

In terms of basic silhouette I’ve got to disagree with the PP comparisons. A quick look at warjacks suggests a roughly 40:60 height split above and below the “waist” (i.e. legs ~40% of height), for the FW model it looks 50:50, if not closer to 60:40 if upright. So in terms of basic proportions not nearly the same

Also the vast majority of PP models have curved plates whereas this one has all angled plates.

Finally there is very little steam-punk type styling on the FW one, whereas PP tends to lean that way in the design of the “gubbins” on warjacks.

It has far more in common with a scaled down warhound titan, or a scaled up dreadnought than it does with PP stuff.

        • metalsifter

Don’t forget the boiler on the back and the metal grating. Both are details that Warjacks have, so far (until now) nothing GW has made has those features.

          • surprize

Let me clarify I think FW is as overpriced as the next guy, and I’m not even that keen on this model. I can’t however stand inaccuracies and lazy generalisations!

The “boiler” is a container thingy with the demon spirit chained into it. Is exactly the same as the Blood Slaughterer released a couple of years ago. The exhausts are very similar to the ones at the back of the Brass Scorpion and to a lesser extent the Plague hulk. The horizontal vent at the back of the waist is pretty much the same vent that is on the FW Chaos dreds where it is instead vertical and on the back of the engine.

      • Zombie_Taco

okay, I too was oversimplifying and making a joke at your joke. (not specifically yours but everyone who made that kind of comment)

to me I see – a normal GW dreadnought with its proportions exaggerated with a demon engine -which looks like a crazy Ghost busters ghost trap- strapped on the back. there is no broiler plate no steam punk elements.

I used the word “to me” because everyone’s going to see what they see. I cannot help your filters or mine. not all warjacks have the diamond shape to them so can we reverse this whole argument – which would go in circles and get us nowhere. they are toys.

simplifying it and making a joke of your joke is just banter, so get over it.

        • nuh uh..

          • Zombie_Taco

LOL! good show – that made my day -thank you

  • lordofexcess

Forgeworld looks awesome … as I don’t have a buddy who works at forgeworld and I don’t live in the UK and I don’t have thousands of disposable gaming funnymoney dollars anymore … I just feel like forgeworld is overpriced as shite.

As much as I hate GW these days (sadly) and have liked what PP has done, PP is not very original. The warjack can be found in endless places long before PP did it and GW did indeed beat them to the punch long ago … I don’t think GW pays much attention to PPs model designs honestly. I think that model has the stance of the stock chaos demon prince with some bulky shoulders … erm where have we seen that before … oh ya GIANT SPACE MARINE SHOULDERPADS.

I think there certainly is a very strong similarity to warjacks I don’t disagree with those comments at all really but I don’t think the design was an intentional copy, dig at or even acknowledgement that PP exists. Anymore christ who buys forgeworld but only the most ardent and loyal GW fanboys it isn’t like this model is going in hobby shops anytime soon and there would be any point at all in copying PP. PP didn’t invent the concept of topheavy giant metal golem/robot … jesus there is stuff way way back in sci-fi, D&D, etc. etc. from the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s (and I’m sure people could find Jules Vern/HG Wells era crap even) that looks like warjacks … so one can easily take the “oh they are copying PP” stuff too far. Not to absolve the evil empire of unoriginality as we all know GW has ripped off most of its stuff too … as they say all the best stuff is stolen.

    • metalsifter

GW didn’t invent anything they have either, it’s all derivative works from others.

  • MadNes

That is a slick looking kit.

  • cannondaddy

I like the bulkheads. It looks like you can slide the doors in and out.

  • jackgaudette

Forge World is the reason I will never again buy resin. Finecast is the icing on the cake. By the way The Decimator does not look like any Dready in the GW line. However it does look like A War Jack.

  • GS_topcow

dang, those doors are kick arse!

  • Niceyard

I like those doors, but they will be too expensive.
The Warjack-thing doesn’t rock me at all. It’s boring.
