One of the biggest announcements at Gen Con this past year was that Fantasy Flight Games was going to be joining the fantasy miniatures wargame market with RuneWars, a new game set in the world of Terrnoth. Attendees were able to get a bit of a look inside the game and its mechanics, but there’s always a bit more that people would like to know about. As such, Fantasy Flight sat down with designer Andrew Fischer and talked a bit about the game and how it came to be.
Topics covered include taking lessons learned from the X-Wing and Armada games and applying them to a fantasy game, creating a game that scales easily from small skirmishes to large combats, and what other miniatures games the design team played and may have drawn inspiration from. This is the first in what will be a series of previews before the game’s eventual release.
