Fury of Dracula

Drac-u-leeeee! Drac-u-laaaaa!
I should probably stop. I wouldn’t want to incur the ire of Dracula. Though, it seems his Fury is already out. Or at least, it will be out when Fantasy Flight Games releases the 3rd edition of Fury of Dracula, the game of vampire hunting all across Europe.

In the game, you either take on the role of one of four famous vampire hunters (Dr. Abraham Van Helsing, Dr. John Seward, Lord Arthur Godalming, or Mina Harker) or as Dracula, himself. The hunters are looking to put a permanent end to the centuries-long reign of terror that Dracula has had. Meanwhile, Dracula is looking to only increase the influence of his malevolent powers across the entire continent. Only one group will be successful. The other will be cold and in the ground (and not for only the day).

The game will be available in Q4 of this year, but you can try it out for yourself at Gen Con next weekend.

I was born at a very young age. I plan on living forever. So far, so good.

    That’s a goofy-looking cover.

I never like to belittle someone’s art work, but I would have to agree, I like the previous image better.

Do a search for Bela Lugosi Dracula, and you’ll understand why the cover looks that way.

Yeap, not a fan of the new cover either. You can blame Google Image for homogenizing the look of everything. A prime example of cranked-out “graphic artist” meh from an over-saturated industry.

“Do a search for Bela Lugosi Dracula, and you’ll understand why the cover looks that way.”

Yeah, I get that. But I really don’t think that the Universal Studios Monsters vibe is at all what this game is about. Nor will it sell it. Yes, the previous cover was better. Heck, the orginal GW cover even does the old “I vant to drink your blod” thing better.

Oh I agree, it’s not very good.
I just understand what they were going for here. While not the best execution, the message from the image was pretty clear, which is a sign of the artist at least having good visual communication skills.

But yeah, the execution could have been way better.

I get the Bela Lugosi thing also, but to me it looks like a cross between the Joker and the singer Taco from the ’80s. I’m expecting him to burst out and start singing “Putting on the ritz”.

Now I’m going to have that damn song stuck in my head all day…..

Terrible cover. So cheesy. Not a very Fantasy Flight looking cover.

I’ve played it and wrote a review. Read here -

If you send me a little notice whenever you put up a new review, I’d be happy to add them in to the Review Roundups on Saturday.
I’ve added your page to my RSS reader, but sometimes things slip through the cracks there.
