Fantasy Flight Games has posted up what will be in the first expansion wave for Star Wars: Armada.
I went “Squee” in my office here when I saw it.

From the announcement:

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of the first wave of Star Wars™: Armada expansion packs!

-Victory-class Star Destroyer Expansion Pack
-CR90 Corellian Corvette Expansion Pack
-Nebulon-B Frigate Expansion Pack
-Assault Frigate Mark II Expansion Pack
-Gladiator-class Star Destroyer Expansion Pack
-Rebel Fighter Squadrons Expansion Pack
-Imperial Fighter Squadrons Expansion Pack

As you launch into Armada and its tactical fleet battles, these expansion packs allow you to customize and expand your fleet. Five of them introduce carefully detailed and pre-painted capital ships, each of which comes with its command dials, ship cards, an array of upgrade cards, and all the tokens and other components you need to deploy it into battle. Meanwhile, the fighter squadron expansion packs each come with eight sculpted squadrons, representing four different types of fighters. You’ll also find eight squadron cards, including one unique card for each type of squadron.

Use these expansions to grow your fleet or to tailor it around your favorite strategy. Either way, these ships, squadrons, and upgrades allow you to explore a vast range of tactics and strategies that reach beyond those available in the Core Set.

Cool, although we did kinda already know this from the very first pics of Armada, right?

yeah, no show-stopping surprises BUT perhaps only for people who saw the Gencon pictures? I have a feeling this is the first time the specific fighter ships and the Assault Frigate have been “officially” announced, all the other things may have been sneak peeks? It also fleshes out some detail.

All of this stuff was previewed on the show floor at Gencon display, but don’t think they ever officially stated anything about any of it till now.

We don’t have any actual dates for stuff yet, right? Still just Q1?

That’s all FFG gives until it ships from their warehouse to distributors.

I love it when Fantasy Flight Games announces an expansion for a game that hasn’t come out yet. 🙂

    • Well, I could see, with just what comes in the starter box, the game getting stale really quickly. So having some extra ships and fighters available asap when the game goes out (I think the idea is to have all of these come out at once with the starter) is probably a good idea.

It maximizes the amount of time people will give them money while they wait on the Chinese printing and transport.
