A couple weeks ago, Spartan Games had announced that they were going to come out with a new game.
Players… didn’t really like the idea.
That caused Spartan to send out a survey going, “Ok, what is it that you would like?” The players responded. And now Spartan has held up their end by launching a Kickstarter campaign to expand the world of Dystopian Wars.

The Kickstarter looks to fund a couple things. The first is a new 2-player starter set. Operation Ice Maiden will have the Prussians fighting the Russians (in what I call the Battle of the P). They also hope to fund core expansion boxes for all 7 of the core nations for the game. Each box will have 1 large, medium, and small squadron. You can also get updated versions of the rulebook for the game.

The Kickstarter campaign is about 1/3 funded with still 29 days left to go.

I missed this. What was the new game they announced?

It was another spin-off of the Dystopian universe, called Dystopian Empires I think, which was basically an epic-scaled mass combat game in the Dystopian setting. Players pretty much immediately chimed in that they’d like more expansion of the Dystopian and Firestorm games before another spin-off

Specifically I believe it was 15mm Dystopian Wars – you know, because the 30mm is doing so well. 😉 The irony, I feel, is that if they would have made Legions 15mm (or 10) to begin with, I think it would be doing better, as the scale is more appropriate. ( also think as a company they would have more to work with and could maintain their energy and excitement on its production (which is what is lacking).
I never understood the logic behind creating a world where the machines of war are larger than life, and then turning around and making a 30mm scale game – a game table scale you can’t fit any of your world’s tech/creation on.
