I was born at a very young age. I plan on living forever. So far, so good.

Why should I want to have giant pictures of battleships fighting under my own ships, which appear childish small next to them. Even with X-Wing miniatures it looks redicilous.

I prefer using a 4’x6′ decoupage of kittens and infants as a backdrop to highlight the contrast between the violence of war and the adorableness of kittens and infants. I also use Precious Moments figures as miniatures.

Just play on a pizza. You can pretend its like a giant sun. That leaves solar residue (cheese) on the base of your ships.

(actually I agree that I don’t think a ship combat for a mat is the best idea, but who knows…maybe some people will like it. Of course, starmats are the new bandwaggon…)

Agreed. Lose the ships. Doesn’t make sense for miniature space games. Our group could use a second mat for some firestorm armada action too!

I’m looking for a good 6×4 mat for Firestorm Armada. I had hopes, but the space battle artwork is a real let down.

The plus side is that Deep-Cut DO make some that have a couple with more generic backdrops listed on their website:
