I like how their store has a Star Wars action figure tossed in for good measure. Tough market to break into though, particularly with such bland ship designs (the corvette and frigates are just the cutter model with bigger engines). The setting sounds fun, but it would take a lot to win me over. For hex based space combat, nothing is ever going to beat Renegade Legion: Interceptor, and apart from that, most people I know have already thrown their money down on Firestorm Armada on account of the whole battleships the length of your hand aspect of the game.

  • Yes the cutter and corvette are similar in design but there is more than just a bigger engine on one of them. The corvette is longer and has the front half has a different design. As for selling I have the cutter and corvette sold together. As for the bland ship, I beg to differ but then for some reason I have a biased opinion. 🙂 But I still like an honest feedback!

Renegade Legion: Interceptor was one of my favorite games which inspired me to design Cyprian Rift: Warships.

I don’t mean to badmouth the ships. It’s just that they seem to be treading familiar ground. The cruisers look like some of the old Silent Death models, and though there’s nothing inherently wrong with the cutter chassis, it doesn’t make me want to throw money at you — and I am very much in the market for good space combat games. They are fine sculpts, but none of the models really give me a sense of being in the cockpit, making pew pew noises. If the rules are revolutionary then I would like to see models that are equally attention grabbing. Of course, I will be bankrupt the day that someone licenses Wing Commander and puts out a line of Kilrathi fighters.

That said, the prices are enticing and the “Modular System Compartments” concept sounds very cool, and I would like to see an example of some of these mechanics on the website. If you are also a fan of RL, you might be interested to know that CinC still produces the original line of ships and Centurion grav tanks.

you’re joking right, Soulfinger? Interceptor was the epitome of bland sameness in design. I needed a good laugh for April Fools 🙂 Party like it’s 1987! 😀 Maybe do some conversions of Firestorm ships over to Leviathan! Sorry, I’ll stop… no offense 😉

I’m digging these ship designs. With a nice scheme and a couple antenna these would be rocking. it’s hard when you’re financing a dream, but I hope you can offer squadron/fleet deals at some point. Paint some of your models up and put them in your site. Keep it coming, hawkfire!

I didn’t mean to put Interceptor forward as an example of great ship design, just as a great hex based game system. The look of the ships is probably what killed the game. There was never that iconic sort of ship that captures people’s imagination like the mechs did with the inferior Battletech system.
