Conan: Rise of Monsters launches on Kickstarter

About a month ago, I was digging through Netflix for something to watch when I saw that they had the original Conan movie. Right then and there, I knew what I was going to be doing for the next couple hours. The characters and world are so iconic, especially to nerds and gamers (of which I fit into both categories), it’s almost impossible not to love them. We’ve had some cool Conan games come around recently, and Pulposaurus Entertainment is looking to answer the riddle of steel and add theirs to the list. Conan: Rise of Monsters is now up on Kickstarter.

In the game you can play as Thoth-Amon and his Legions of Set or as King Conan of Aquilonia in a battle of epic proportions, if of just small scale. The figures for the game are pre-paintd plastic, so if you’re not one for wanting to assemble and paint your minis, this might just be the game for you. Of course, if you do want to paint the figures, they are detailed enough that a skilled painter can really make them look unique to their own painting style. Unit stat cards get you playing quickly, without having to flip through rulebooks to know what your models are capable of. The game uses custom dice that can activate certain special abilities when the “sigil” is rolled. Of course, fate plays more of a role than just in your roll. Destiny Tokens and the player’s Fate Deck also add new twists and turns as you play the game.

The campaign is up now and is set to run for another 29 days.

When half of what you get for each starter set is in gray silhouette then no…..just no.
This shows that they haven’t prepared enough. (and how they’ve set this up really reminds me of Guardians Chronicles, which is going on 2 years late, with backers only getting half of what they paid for so far).

Also, it seems there’s a glut of Conan stuff coming out lately…

The greyed out images are for the stretch goals, not anything that comes in the base pledge. I’m not too excited about this one though.

        Ah, that makes sense then.
However, I would prefer to see most of the models at least sculpted.
The fact that they’re not is just a personal nitpick of my own, and I doubt if it will have any actual bearing on the success of their campaign.

It’s a bit on the expensive side too, but that’s another discussion.
