I was born at a very young age. I plan on living forever. So far, so good.

From the box art I hope it’s some sort of tank pro-wrestling game.

  • Soulfinger

HELL YEAH! That cover image makes me want to play with tanks!

    • BaconSlayer

      You mean ‘HULL YEAH!’?

      Tip your waitress…

    “Smash-Up Derby” …. with TANKS ?!! OH YEAH !!!!!!

  • T34

Best/most ridonka art for a historical in ages. I’m in.

  • Paconious

The worst part of this was the soldiers having to get out of the tanks in the middle of the battle exchange insurance information. . .

    • That made me laugh loud enough that I disturbed my office mate who was on the phone.

      Well played, sir. Well played.

VROOOOOM, POW! pew pew pew I keep coming back to this. It grabs me on such a visceral level.

    • cama

I keep coming back for the hull of it!

Actually, there were plenty of incidents of tank ramming, accidentally or on purpose, in WWII and on. Wouldn’t call it the preferred strategy of your average tank commander, but it happened frequently.

    • Soulfinger

We know all that, but that image doesn’t speak to us as historic wargamers. That image is shouting “KERBLAM!” at the children inside of us playing with toy army men! They need to pile on a third tank, and have some disheveled SS officer diving out of the way of the treads as they clash right into the line of sight of a pissed-off, cigar-chomping American with a tommy gun in one hand and a sticky bomb in the other.

I bet you that the cropped part of the image has a bunch of airplanes dueling in the sky, crashing into each other, and bombing the crap out of everything. There’s probably a guy with his parachute caught up in the propeller of a Stuka, screaming in its wake as it is dives. Then off to the right is a Landkreuzer P. 1000 Ratte tearing a road to shreds while a bunch of Russian anti-tank dogs and Goliath tank busters duel it out in a series of explosions.

        VERY LOL!

      • Riquende

        Russian anti tank dogs?

        Zvezda have got you covered:

Holy crap! They make them! This is going to be the best game ever.

          • cama

They just blew the woof off this game!

          • KelRiever

😀 Yes, yes, soulfinger. Well, maybe you aren’t the target audience anymore, like me. Seen the new Exemplar from Privateer Press? Steroids wouldn’t save him from being crushed by the weight of his own shoulderpads.

What is missing from this picture is the generally standard tiger mouth and eyes. You know, painted on the front of the tank. And if you really want to be historically inaccurate, yet appeal to the adolescent male audience who cares little for history and more for KEWLDEWD factor, there should be a bellyshirt blonde American woman hand firing a .50 machine gun next to and a little behind your cigar chomping sticky bomber.

          • Soulfinger

I think that Landkreuzer P. 1000 Ratte versus anti-tank dogs holds enough appeal for audiences of all ages, from grognard to those damn kids who won’t stay off my lawn. Come to think of it, that was pretty much the plot of Command & Conquer: Red Alert.

“Drive me closer, I want to hit them with my sword!”

  • the Paper Warrior

I never would have imagined something so cool. Can anything compare to the pure bravado of ramming your tank into another tank? This artist needs some kind of gaming award for this picture. Very exciting! I want to play too!

It feels like it needs a David Attenborough voiceover.

  • marcus

the German is obviously running thru a stop sign!! The Russian has the right of way!! where are the MP’S when you need one

  • Panzer Vor! needs some anime school girl commanders

    • cama

Girls und Panzer is one of the finest new shows of the year!

  • Riquende

I had heard about Russian ammo shortages in WW2, but I always assumed it only affected the infantry.

    • cama

When the man with the tank is killed in his tank, the man running on the ground gets in the tank and drives the tank!

      • I just assumed the tank was self propelled or a character… I half expect it to sound like a horse from the picture on the box – you know the sound a horse makes when it feels threatened and gets ready to trample you… (according to movies – I’ve been trampled – by a horse)

  • entil_zar

I think they will just cram every 15mm Tank-Kit they have into the box together with some dice, maybe a ruler and a very basic streamlined Rule-Set. Seems like every tank on the Artwork (which is truly awesome) is aviable for about 3 Euro already

  • grimbergen

Well if samurai battles is any indication, this is going to be one hideous looking game except for the model kit parts which they’re good at. I couldn’t believe the total disregard for any polish in that game…the worst offender was the ugliest game boards I’ve ever seen, like someone just spent 10 sec in photoshop applying a texture and then it was off to the printers.

    • lol, well have you seen all their unlicensed crap like terminator and predator and aliens? They’ve made tons of crappy boardgames and some really cool sci-fi kits a la “starship troopers” (that was even the name) with a huge cybercrab beast and plenty of terrain bunkers and stuff. Super cheap, but sadly hard to get a hold of outside of the east…

      • grimbergen

Ah… never looked beyond that game. I think what shocked most people is that Richard Borg collaborated with them so people were expecting C&C/M44/Battlelore quality components. Guess we shouldve known had we looked at zvezda’s previous games.

  • cama

In post-Soviet Russia, Zvezda games you !

    They are pretty crappy.
