Sandstorm Virtual Tabletop Relaunches on Kickstarter

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try again. Generally considered good words to live by for most things (example, if you fail to eat 20lbs of pudding, I don’t know if I’d really recommend trying it again), Idle Ideas Inc. has restarted their Kickstarter campaign for Sandstorm, their new virtual tabletop software. This new campaign has a few changes compared to the previous.

Warhammer 40k: Freeblade, A New iOS Game From Pixel Toys and Games Workshop

Well, seems a day doesn’t go by that we’re not getting another video game based on the Games Workshop properties of Warhammer 40k and Fantasy. Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing, mind you. Seems some people yesterday weren’t thrilled with the idea of a MOBA-type game. Well, how about if you get to play as an Imperial Knight Warden running around a city, blasting apart enemies as they come at you? If that sounds like fun (it does to me), you’ll want to check out Warhammer 40k: Freeblade.

Big Update for Warmachine Tactics

Seems the fellows over at WhiteMoon Dreams have been pretty busy working on Warmachine Tactics. For those that might have forgotten, Warmachine Tactics is the video game version of Warmachine. It plays 90% like the tabletop game (some things had to be changed slightly due to the change in medium). Probably the biggest update comes in the form of the implementation of the Unreal Engine 4.9. But there’s more than that.

Magic: The Gathering Puzzle Quest Coming Soon

Confession: I am a match-3 addict. I’ve got an endless game of Bejeweled that I’ve been playing for around a decade or so on my computer. I’d not joined in a crowdfunding campaign for years until Apotheca came out. Now, if you’re a match-3 junkie like me, and you’re a fan of Magic: The Gathering, then you’re going to be rather happy, since there’s going to be a Magic: The Gathering mod coming out for Puzzle Quest.

Halo: Fleet Battles Expands The Halo Universe From Console to Tabletop

In 2001, Microsoft changed the landscape of console based shooters with the release of Halo: Combat Evolved for the original Xbox, introducing the world to Master Chief Petty Officer John-117 (or the Master Chief for short) and a rich, sci-fi universe. Over the years the franchise spawned many more releases ranging from sequels to books and comics to updated re-releases on new consoles. And on October 27, 2015, Microsoft and 343 Industries (the developers and caretakers of Halo) will release Halo 5: Guardians on the Xbox One. But soon, another all-new gameplay experience will be available thanks to Spartan Games — an appropriately named UK based tabletop game studio. In February 2015, Spartan announced its forthcoming tabletop miniature game, Halo: Fleet Battles. Continue reading

Crysis Analogue Edition on Kickstarter

Frame6 recently launched a Kickstarter for Crysis Analogue Edition. This is their first board game, with previous releases including two video games. Based on the Crysis video game series from Crytek, Analogue Edition looks to bring the world and action of the digital game series to tabletops. Two to eight players form teams of CELL and USF soldiers equipped with the signature Nanosuits of the series and make their way around the hex based map in two modes — Team Instant Action (think team deathmatch) or Capture the Relay (find objective and secure). Analogue Edition has the full backing of Crytek to ensure it matches the video games thematically and visually. Continue reading
