Tragedy of Progress Steampunk Minis Game Up On Kickstarter

Tragedy of Progress is a new steampunk skirmish game that’s up on Kickstarter. The game is designed to put you in complete control of your crew. You decide what skills they have, what stats, and what they’re equipped with. Skirmishes are centered around various scenarios that you link together to create an overall narrative campaign. In-between scenarios, there’s rules for increasing character’s stats, as well as buying new gear, or possibly even finding rare equipment, depending on the outcome of the games.

New 2-Player Starter Sets Available For Warmachine and Hordes From Privateer Press

Many times now you’ve probably read about my love of the 2-player starter box for games. My first foray into miniatures gaming was via a 2-player starter. It’s a great way to rope in… I mean… join in with a friend and have ready-to-play forces (once the glue dries, generally, anyway). Well, with the new edition of Warmachine and Hordes, Privateer Press has come out with new 2-player starters. They also have a new Cryx warjack box available today, too.

Review Roundup

Hey there everyone,
We’ve made it to Saturday, so that once again means it’s time for a Review Roundup. A bit lighter this week than usual. I’m sure that’s due to Gen Con last weekend. I expect, though, that the next couple weeks will be pretty full of new reviews. I know several reviewers were getting copies of the new CMON games, at least.

Also: We’re looking into what’s up with the TGN Blogs page. We’ll let you know when we find out anything.

Anyway, as for today, we’ve got: Battle of the Bands, Get Adler, Super Hack Override, Beneath Nexus, Legends of Andor New Heroes Expansion, Warmachine Cephalyx Mind Slaver & Drudges, Mansions of Madness 2nd Edition, Pandemic: Reign of Cthulhu, Tyrants of the Underdark, Animals On Board, Farmageddon: Farm Fresh Edition, and Stellar Conflict.

Gen Con Day 4 Photos

Well, it’s getting to be bedtime. Gotta get to sleep so I can make the epic migration back to the sauna that is Atlanta in August. I’m going to miss Gen Con. This was a good year. Despite the fact that I didn’t get really much of a chance to hang out with too many people (Gen Con, if nothing else, is hundreds of “we’ll hang out later” comments said in passing that, sadly, never get to actually happen), it was still a pretty good show. Lots of things to see. Lots of big announcements. And lots of photos. My phone says I’ve taken over 1,600 in the past several days, a good portion of which have been posted here for you. Speaking of which, here’s the last galleries from the show.

Gen Con Day 2 Photo Galleries

So, it’s coming up to 8pm. Day 2 is definitely in the books for Gen Con 2016. It’s been a very busy day. I’m tired, but still pretty amped about everything that’s gone on. And I’m sure you all would like to know about some of it. There’s been about a billion things to see. So, relatively, here’s a rather small percentage. More will come tomorrow.

Gen Con Day 1

Hey Everyone!

It’s really hard to believe the first day of Gen Con’s already over and I’m here getting prepped for Day 2! It was such a whirlwind, I didn’t get a chance to make this post last night. But don’t worry, I’ll be sure to get plenty more pictures today and get ’em up this evening for you. Remember, follow the TGN Facebook page to get these as they’re posted if you simply cannot wait to see what’s going on here at the show.

Midweek Snippets

We’ve made it to the halfway mark. Just the rest of today, and then two full days and we’ll be back into the sweet embrace of the weekend. How will you be beating the heat? Inside gaming? Outside trying to catch them all? A little of both? Just be sure to hydrate. A group of friends want to wander around downtown Atlanta on Sunday… when it’s supposed to get to 99F out. Whoof. Too hot for this arctic ursine.

Anyway, being the middle of the week, it means we need to stock back up on bite-size gaming stories.

Today we have: Team Canada Adventure for Save the Day Super-Powered RPG, Precision Polyhedral Floating Face Dice On Kickstarter, Siren lands in Purgatory, New 28mm 1806 Prussian Hussars, Semi Realistic Portrait Generator for your games, New Numidian Cavalry Available From Victrix, 3rd Annual Great Wargaming Survey Posted, Another World Miniatures Releases Alfred – Steampunk Monkey Assistant, and Baueda Releases new 15mm Sicilian Normans range.

Aether Captains Pledge Manager Now Available

While a Kickstarter campaign is going, you might want to jump in on the action, but you might not be able to for whatever reason. Thankfully, there’s a second chance for people to join in during the Pledge Manager portion of the campaign. As backers are able to add to their order, so too can people who missed out on the campaign join in and get their order put in at special prices and offering special items that might not be available later on. Such is the case with Aether Captains. The pledge manager for that has opened up and is accepting new backers.

Wolsung Steampunk Skirmish Game Second Edition Available Now

It’s nearly impossible to hit perfection the first time you do something. Sure, it sometimes happens, but for the vast majority of the time, you get pretty close, but you still need to work at it. Well, the folks over at Micro Art Studio didn’t quite feel they hit perfection with their first version of Wolsung, the Steampunk skirmish game, and so they’ve revised it and come out with another.

Privateer Press Previews Cygnar for Warmachine MkIII

When I first started playing Warmachine, I played Khador. When MkII came out, I swapped to Cygnar because, in my opinion, Khador didn’t really change any, while Cygnar got some really cool, new things (models that hadn’t been viable before became viable, and so forth). Well, we’ve now got a preview of what Cygnar will be getting in the new MkIII edition of Warmachine. Will I be swapping armies again?

Thursday Terrain Corner

Don’t get too excited, but the weekend’s only a couple days away (well, a day and a half). What gaming do you have planned? My D&D group is getting together for the first time in… oh… 6-7 months. Then, afterward (we tend to break up fairly early) I might be playing some Guild Ball.

In the meantime, though, let’s get your gaming tables looking as good as possible.

Today in our Terrain Corner we have: Tablewar To Make Official Privateer Press Game Mats, Manorhouse Workshop Update # 31 – Sneak Peek – Abbey in ruins refinished with grass and bushes, Deep-Cut Studio releases gaming mats on magnet sheets, and Combat Plaza: Pwork Wargames science fiction gaming mat now available.

Ictus 30mm Miniatures Game Up On Kickstarter

The American War for Independence was already chaotic enough. Then the first Ictus rift opened up and all hell broke lose (almost literally). That was a bit more than a hundred years ago. In that time, much has changed, except it seems just about everyone’s still at war with one-another. Though technology has certainly gone in a different direction than the one you can read up about in the history books. That brings us to Ictus, a new steampunk skirmish game that’s up on Kickstarter now.

Privateer Press Previews Jack Marshals From Warmachine MkIII

Privateer Press’ Jason Soles is giving us another look inside the upcoming MkIII version of Warmachine and Hordes. This time around, the focus is on Jack Marshals (pun… somewhat intended). With the emphasis on bringing more warjacks to the table, these models are getting a bit of a revamp. And it’s not just Jack Marshals, but any character that can run a Warjack or control a Warbeast that we get a look at.
