Fantasy Flight Games Announces General Veers Expansion for Star Wars: Legion

As I mentioned in the other Legion preview post, the Battle of Hoth is my favorite part in any Star Wars movie. And, honestly, my favorite character in the movies is General Veers. He’s the one truly competent Imperial officer you see, and he’s obviously sure of his abilities. And soon, you’ll be able to bring that confidence to your Star Wars: Legion tabletops, as he’s getting his own figure. Check him out.

December Infinity Releases Now Available From Corvus Belli

We’re getting into the last bit of December. And with it, comes the end of the year, itself. But there’s still plenty of things to be excited about. Case in point: Corvus Belli has their latest Infinity releases available now over in their webshop. Still time to run out to the LGS and get these figures to give to your gaming friend for Christmas.

Fantasy Flight Games Announces Snowtroopers Unit Expansion Pack for Star Wars: Legion

My favorite part in any Star Wars movie is the assault on Hoth. That cold-weather attack finally showed what the movies had been telling us: that the Imperial Army was a major fighting force to be reckoned with and feared. All we’d seen up to that point was the taking of the Tantiv IV. So this was really the Imperial’s chance to shine. For those that want to recreate that scene on the tabletop, you’ll be able to soon with the Snowtrooper Assault expansion pack for Star Wars: Legion. Check it out.

Midweek Snippets

I did soooo much baking over the weekend.
*someone from the audience shouts out “How much baking did you do!?”*
I did so much that there’s still some of various treats left, even though there’s been a steady stream of coworkers out to the tables where they reside. Though we’re getting down to the last bits. I think it’s just a bit of fruitcake and the candy cane cookies left.
So, in lieu of trying to send those through the screen so you can try them, how about I just give you some tasty, bite-sized gaming stories, instead? Sounds like a plan.

Today on the platter we have: New Annihilation Beamer Available From Kromlech, The Goblin Sorcerer Paper Model Up On Kickstarter, Rebel Minis Christmas Sale Happening Now, and Mother of Dragons Resin Kit Up On Kickstarter.

The Horus Heresy Rulebook Due Out This Year

The Warhammer 40k universe has quite an expansive history. Much of it focuses around the pivotal moment of the Horus Heresy. The Emperor’s greatest creation, Horus, turns against him, having listened to the call of the gods of Chaos. A massive civil war ensues, the ripples of still being readily felt some 10 thousand years later. For those that want to head back to those days for your games, you’re in luck. While originally delayed, the Horus Heresy rulebook will be available this year. And considering how much time is left in “this year,” that means it’s damn-near here.

WizKids Previews New Star Trek Attack Wing Starter Set

The 2-player starter is one of the best ways to get into a new game, if you ask me. With one purchase, you’ve got two starter forces so you and a friend can get playing as soon as possible. Well, in just a week or so, players will have access to a new Star Trek: Attack Wing starter set. It’s the classic match-up of Federation vs. Klingon in the depths of space.

Monday Terrain Corner

Back in the office after a busy weekend. How busy? Well, I made 2 fruitcakes, 2 batches of chocolate chip cookies, 2 batches of gingerbread cookies, 2 batches of cinnamon nuts, and then 1 batch each of salted caramel dark chocolate brownies, chip ‘n’ mint cookies, nutmeg sugar cookies with egg nog frosting, candy cane cookies, and an extra batch of that egg nog frosting to put on the other cookies. … Like I said, I was busy.
So, while my coworkers chow down on the fruit(cakes) of my labor, let’s get your gaming tables looking good.

Today we have: Wyrd Previews New Terrain, New Footbridges and Road bridges from Sally 4th, Heroic Maps – Giant Maps: Ice Base Khione Now Available, and Erdhexe Battlemat Now Available From Warzone Studio.

New No-Glue-Required 40k Sets Available To Order From Games Workshop

Pretty much every veteran gamer has stories about when they were new to the hobby and had their first nasty run-in with superglue. I was assembling a pewter Carnifex while still also trying to use it in a game. I was using too much glue, not letting it set properly, and, of course, it was a disaster. Well, Games Workshop looks to be taking a line from Bandai and is releasing several sets for both Marines and Chaos that don’t require any glue at all.

Corvus Belli Previews January Infinity Releases

Halfway through December. January and the New Year will be here before we know it. Corvus Belli will be celebrating the coming of 2018 with a new set of releases for Infinity.
… And yeah, I know the photo says “Available Now.” I’m not seeing them yet in the webstore. So I’m thinking they just rolled out the wrong picture.

Fantasy Flight Games Previews Movement in Star Wars: Legion

The battlefields of the Star Wars universe are anything but static. Speeder bikes zoom all around. Walkers tromp through the underbrush. Foot soldiers look to take up defensive positions, or move up to capture said positions. But how will this dynamic battlefield translate to the world of Star Wars: Legion? Glad you asked, because that’s just what Fantasy Flight is previewing for us today.

Wave 1 Faction Packs Available For Star Trek Attack Wing

With all the individual releases out there, it can be hard for a new player for Star Trek: Attack Wing to figure out where to begin in terms of getting a faction. Or, perhaps a long-time player wants to try out something new. To help out with that, WizKids is coming out with Attack Wing Faction Packs. The first two are available now. So if you want a Romulan or Dominion fleet, here’s your chance to get one all in one go.

Midweek Snippets

I just realized this morning that this upcoming weekend is the last one before Christmas.
Ok, so, technically Christmas has one more weekend before it, but since it falls on a Monday, it means this upcoming week is the last one before the holiday. As such, I’ve just now realized how much baking I need to do (since that’s what I give as presents to friends). Looks like this Saturday’s shopping list is going to include a lot of unsalted butter, flour, and chocolate chips, plus whatever else I feel like throwing in. But before I get to those tasty treats, let’s get to today’s tasty treats in terms of bite-sized gaming stories.

Today on the platter we have: December Releases Available From Scotia Grendel, War in Christmas Village Sequel Up On Kickstarter, and HeresyLab Working on a New Line of Miniatures.

Hyacinth Games Announces Wreck-Age 2nd Edition

Occasionally, games can use a bit of a revamp. There’s nothing wrong with it. Years of the game can show parts where there’s room for improvement. Or maybe some new expansions weren’t working out the way they were originally intended. Or the game can just feel a bit dated. Whatever the reason, a new edition is put into the works. Well, Hyacinth Games has been looking over Wreck-Age and figured it’s time for a new edition. They’re going to be sending out previews of the rules that you can sign up for as well.

Fantasy Flight Previews Command Cards For Star Wars: Legion

Without a coherent plan and a competent commander, even the best-trained and best-equipped troops will fall in battle. So, making sure your soldiers get the intel they need to know what their objectives are on the battlefield is important. And a commander choosing the best options as the battle flows along is also important. In this preview for Star Wars: Legion, Fantasy Flight shows off how the Command Cards work in the game and how you’ll use them against your opponent.

Red Scorpion Kits Available to Order From Forge World

Well, the Scorpions are red (and I don’t mean to say that the classic metal band is communist), so that’s kinda Christmas-y. Sky Relics Fleet Core Minis Game Up On Kickstarter

I mean, being in charge of a starfighter is pretty cool. So is being in charge of a couple of them. But for those that want real power, being an admiral in charge of a fleet of capital ships and their squadrons of fighters is really where it’s at. If that sort of power is what you’ve got in mind, you should check out Sky Relics, a new fleet battle miniatures game that’s up on Kickstarter now.

This has gone forward into the new era as the New Order continues to use TIE variants. One preferred by Kylo Ren is the TIE Silencer. Soon, you’ll be able to hit the skies with this ship. But so you can see the specs before you enter the furball, here’s a preview.
