    New SoTR templates and counters

    June 13th, 2008

Grindhouse Games have posted updated templates and counters for Secrets of the Third Reich.

    From their announcement:

Attached below are the counter and template sheets version 2.0. They clarify our intent and contain a few tidbits that did not make it into the first set of counter and template sheets that we released before the book. Namely, they specify which blast effect goes with which template as John intended from the getgo. The new sheet also clarifies our intent regarding Heavy Flamethrowers and Barrage attacks.

If you have already printed counters and templates, there is no need to reprint. Simply keep this pdf around for guidance.

    SoTR vampire preview

    May 6th, 2008

Jim Bailey has posted a painted sample of an upcoming German vampire figure for Secrets of the Third Reich on the SoTR forum.

    From their website:

Vampires are the SWD elite and are indeed among the most influential figures of the Third Reich. Many of them are from the old Junker aristocracy and were early members of the Thule Society. It is uncertain from whence the patriarch of the German vampires hails but many assume it is connected to Frau Tear’s expedition to the forlorn peaks of Rumania in 1933. The Frau is an especially frightful example of her kind. As she gorges on the life of her victims, she cries tears of blood. The power of the Vampire has increased in recent years. By 1948, many wonder if the ascendance of the Junkers has something to do with Germany’s reversal of fortune. As individuals, Vampires are incredibly deadly. Vampires can, despite popular myth to the contrary operate in daylight.

    LiveWire and larger Comanche preview

    May 4th, 2008

Jim Bailey of Grindhouse Games has sent along a larger version of the Comanche preview image we posted yesterday as well as a painted preview of the German character LiveWire as well as some details of the miniature. Both of these miniatures are for use with West Wind Productions Secrets of the Third Reich game.

    From their announcement:

Area 51 in the United States is a tightly controlled facility. Few imagine the secrets it contains. Fewer still imagine that their government does not have the situation under control. In Germany, SWD has given the “visitors” a name. They are the Nihl. Frau Elli Anselm leads her expedition to Antarctica in 1942. What she finds there is unknown to any but the highest ranking of the SWD. What is known is that the u-boat sent to rendezvous with her party finds her standing alone and naked on an ice shelf with bale fire flickering in her eyes, totally unharmed despite the minus 40 degree Celsius temperature and the biting wind…or so the awe-stricken sailors believe.

The Secrets of the Third Reich forum has a post with a high resolution PDF of counters and templates for use with the upcoming Secrets of the Third Reich rules.

    From their announcement:

We have just finished up the counters and templates for the game. The attached 3 page free-release pdf is pretty big but the high resolution graphics makes it worthwhile. I have included on the sheets instructions for printing and mounting for best effect. We did our set on glossy photo paper and they are pretty slick.

We may do clear plastic counters and a big multi-template at some point but we wanted everybody to be able to get started with the game right away without additional expenditure.

Get your counters and templates ready. The book is coming soon…

    SoTR rulebook sample pages

    March 8th, 2008

West Wind Productions and Grindhouse Games have posted sample pages from their upcoming Secrets of the Third Reich rulebook for download on their message board.

    From their website:

Things are moving along pretty rapidly now. THe book is around 90% ready to go. At this point we’re pretty much dotting the Is and crossing the Ts. I must say that I am incredibly impressed with the level of graphics we have been able to achieve. Andy just rocks. As you can see from the two sample pages that are attached below, the book is literally dripping with art and photography. Pretty stunning stuff. I apologize for the size of the files. I have already cut them down by 75%. We’re working off of the Grindhouse FTP and we’re seeing uploads of several hours for different sections of the book as we pass files back and forth for review and comment.

Anyway, enjoy the pages. There are a couple of hundred more just like these. We’re still on track for a late April release. We hope to have books for sale at Salute but at the least we should have a proof.
