Privateer Press August Releases Announced

It would seem that August is going to be a rather big release month for Privateer Press. Among other things, they’ve got new two-player sets for both Warmachine and Hordes, some reculpts of popular figures, as well as several all-new releases. Let’s dig in.

Privateer Press Retailer Big Game Announced

Privateer Press is running a pretty interesting competition over on their website. With the new edition of Warmachine and Hordes looming on the horizon, they are getting out some pretty big prizes that you and your LGS can win. And while I’m not generally a fan of trophy-hunting, this is one I can get behind.

Privateer Press Previews New Warmachine/Hordes Starter Boxes

So there was that thing not too long ago about a new edition of Warmachine and Hordes coming out. I’m guessing you might’ve seen something about it. 😛
Well, along with the new edition will be coming new starter boxes for each of the factions. These photos were on the little preview page, but you might’ve missed ’em. And since that page isn’t the easiest to get to, they’re now on the standard Privateer Press home page, as well as here.

More Some More Adepticon Photos

It’s early Sunday morning, and that means packing things up here in the room. It’s the final day of Adepticon. If you’ve been here, I hope you’ve had a good time. If you’ve not been here, I hope the photos have helped you live vicariously through my lens. To help with that, here’s some more galleries of events from the show.

And stay tuned this afternoon for the results from the Crystal Brush awards.

New Warmachine/Hordes Previewed By Privateer Press

Privateer Press has a couple new previews up on their website. One’s for Hordes. The other is for Warmachine. Both take a model you sort-of know and then expand it out to monstrous proportions. Let’s take a look.

New Warmachine and Hordes Previews Posted

The folks over at Privateer Press posted up a trio of new previews over on their website. There’s a bit of keeping ol’ man winter around, a little bit of “kill it with fire!,” and finally a guy who’d be happy to do just that for you.

Privateer Press Launches Widower’s Wood Kickstarter Campaign

Privateer Press has headed to Kickstarter in order to fund their latest board game. Widower’s Wood takes players into the dark and swampy places of Western Immoren. The game is a companion to The Undercity, with the two sets being compatible. But Widower’s Wood is also a full game in and of itself. Much like Hordes is to Warmachine, the two games are separate, compatible, and equal.

New Warmachine/Hordes Previews Posted by Privateer Press

Look, I’ll just cut to the chase. You get a look at the new colossal for Cryx.
Sure, there’s a new pose for Deneghra, a new Convergence warcaster, and a new light beast kit coming for the Farrow, but it’s the colossal that’s going to be grabbing most people’s attention for this post.

Privateer Press Announces Launch Date for Widower’s Wood Board Game

Privateer Press has announced that their next board game endeavor will be funded through Kickstarter. Widower’s Wood will take players into the deep, dark woods in hunt of gators (as Lynyrd Skynyrd plays on Pandora. Thanks for the appropriate mood music, Pandora). While Privateer Press has been on Kickstarter in the past, this is the first time they’re taking a board game project to the crowdfunding website.

Privateer Press Previews New Sculpts for Thunderhead and Proteus

Sometimes it’s strange to think just how long certain games have been around and how sculpts have changed over the years. I got in pretty much on the ground-floor of Warmachine, back when units still came in “leader” and “trooper” blisters and everything was pewter. You could get certain warcasters only in the starter boxes. Now it’s odd to think that my starter-box Stryker is possibly a rather rare item. Well, it seems my all-metal Thunderhead might be a rare thing at some point, as Privateer Press is showing of a resculpt for it.

Privateer Press Previews New Minion Unit for Hordes

Viktor Pendrake is one of the most-beloved characters in Hordes. The adventuring scholar has been known to players of that universe ever since the first Monstronomicon. He went all around the world, cataloging all the strange and wonderful (and often extremely dangerous) creatures that inhabited the world. Like Privateer Press’ version of Sir David Attenborough, if Sir Attenborough hacked things to pieces with a big sword from time to time. Well, a character like that would certainly attract interesting students. It’s two of them we get a look at today.

Privateer Press Posts New Previews

I realize, as I type this, and the Imperial March starts playing on Pandora, that a good, “good guy gone bad” story is something most love to watch. Some fairly iconic characters were once good guys, but then went a little astray. Is there still a hope for redemption? Only the writers know that for sure. In today’s previews from Privateer Press, along with a bunch of templates and some resculpts, we get a look at both Commander Dalin Sturgis and Sturgis the Corrupted.

Privateer Press Previews Blind Walker For Hordes

It’s been a while since I played any miniatures game very regularly. Unfortunately, I sort of ended up in the “non-gaming” side of town. As such, my Blindwater army for Hordes has been sitting in their AT case, unused for… longer than I care to think about. I really should make an effort to break them back out again, especially since they’ve come out with some pretty cool things over the past several years, and have some new stuff coming, including the Blind Walker.

Privateer Press Previews New Grotesque Units For Hordes

While I’m sure most of us wouldn’t want to be just walking down the street when someone points at us and yells “How grotesque!” These new units for the Legion of Everblight, though, would probably go, “Why, thank you very much.”
They’d probably then rip you apart with their claws, because… y’know… Legion of Everblight.

Privateer Press Previews Bog Trog Trawler For Hordes

Though I’ve not played regularly in quite some time, I still have my Blindwater Pact army for Hordes. I really should get them back out sometime, cue up some Born on the Bayou, make a big batch of gumbo, and just make a whole event out of it. Since the last time I played, the army has had several new additions, and another is coming soon in the form of the Bog Trog Trawler.

New Warmachine and Hordes Previews Posted

While I eventually switched over to Cygnar, my main force for the longest time in Warmachine was Khador. I remember when the Kodiak originally came out. It was all in pewter (as all figures from PP were at the time), but I worked on converting it, anyway, cutting off some of the extra metal around the hands, opening them up, sculpting on claws, and cutting the legs so it looked like it was running full-tilt forward. Well, I eventually sold off that army, but if I were to build it back up again, I’d have a lot easier time converting that figure with the new Kodiak plastic kit that’s coming out next year.

Privateer Press Posts New Warmachine and Hordes Previews

We’ve recently seen what Privateer Press has in store for December for Warmachine and Hordes, but what about beyond that into the new year? New Releases Available From Privateer Press

Well, the latest set of releases are now available from Privateer Press. There’s not a lot this time around, but that doesn’t make them any less important. Especially considering we’re getting two warcasters and a brand new expansion book. Yeah, I’d say that, despite being only 3 things, it’s a pretty big deal.

Privateer Press has their latest releases for both Warmachine and Hordes available over in their webshop, as well as at a Local Game Store near you (more than likely). New Hordes Previews Posted by Privateer Press

It was actually a little bit cool out this morning when I left my apartment at 6:10am so I could get in to the office. Granted, “a bit cool” is relative, since it was about 65 degrees. 5 months from now, if it’s 65 degrees, we’ll think we’re in the middle of a heat wave. That’s what you get when you acclimate to it being 90-something every day for months.
But anyway, now for cheesy line, “I wonder if that chill was caused by a Glacier King hanging out in the area…”
We’ve got some new previews from Privateer Press.

Privateer Press Makes Warmachine/Hordes Rules Free Online

You’ve previously heard me praise game companies who put the rules for their games up online for free. It’s a great way to show that they trust their rules are good enough to have you come back for more. It also lets players test out the game before they dive headlong into it. Privateer Press has now put the rules for Warmachine and Hordes up online for free.

The Undercity and Iron Kingdoms Unleashed: Skorne Empire are now Available

The Iron Kingdoms seems like they’d be a pretty terrifying place to live. You’ve got all the countries you know of at war with one-another. There are hidden armies everywhere that don’t belong to any particular nation that just like to rampage around. There’s all manner of frenzied beasts that lurk in the shadows. And even in the center of “civilization” in a big city, the tunnels and sewers are filled with horrific things. Thankfully, there are brave individuals who are ready to take on such menaces.
