WWIII is upon us! Or, it will be tomorrow, anyway… and only on our tabletops (hopefully, anyway!). Battlefront is launching Team Yankee and they’re starting off with a bang. If you’re in New Zealand, you can stop by and see all the things that are going on first-hand. If you’re not in New Zealand, as I’m sure most of you are, such as myself, you can still be there in spirit by checking out everything that’s going to be going on over on the Team Yankee website.
It’s time once again for Friday. Now, normally, the week after a “short week” (such as last week) feels like they take forever. At least, to me they do. That’s why if given my druthers, I’d have a Monday off rather than a Friday. You get a long weekend and then a short week, as opposed to a short week, long weekend, then a regular week. But that’s me. Anyway, I’m happy to say that this week feels like it’s just flown by. Here we are already ready for a weekend. And baking fruitcake will be my reward.
But before we can get there, we have some business to attend to, such as a group of bite-sized stories we’ve collected over the past couple days. What sort of stories?
Ones like these: New Releases Available for Wolsung SSG from Micro Art Studio, Khurasan pre-release deal for 15mm late Cold War armour, Shark Day Miniature Available From Wonderlands Project, Krampus for Kaiju Kaos: The Miniatures Game Released, New releases for By Fire and Sword, Coming Soon – The Prometheans from Nexus Miniatures, Kromlech Legionary Thunder Gun with under-barrel Plasma Gun Now Available, Slavic Fantasy Miniatures Kickstarter by Deraj Studios has Launched, WH40k: Tactical Objectives App Release Date Announced, Post Captain Squadron Action Scenarios Posted, Bombshell Babes 2 on Preorder from Bombshell Miniatures, and Alexander Nevsky ready for Forgestarter campaign.
Hello there, Wednesday. How are you? I see you’ve brought the Guns ‘N’ Roses weather back with you. And while I know I’m in the minority here in Atlanta when I say, “woo! Rain!” I don’t care. I enjoy it. So there.
Along with the rain, Wednesday brings us our Midweek Snippets post, where we bring you some bite-sized stories that we’ve found over the past couple days.
In this batch we have: Tor Gaming Announces The C’thu Kickstarter, We’re All Mad Here NPC Contest from Wizard of the Coast, Fistful of Lead: Reloaded fully backed on Kickstarter, Tin Man 35% Off Sale Ends Sunday Night, Shieldwolf Miniatures releases new Goblins, New Sci Fi Dwarves from Scibor, Oddzial Osmy’s 3mm and 15mm October Releases Arrive at PicoArmor, The Seraphis Institute – The Third Army Deal From Nexus Miniatures, Vasseth Strike Tank and Reaction Force released by Loud Ninja Games, New Shaleground 30mm and 40mm RL Deals From Tabletop-Art, Crusaders of the Faith Revealed for Shattered Earth’s Children of the One True God Faction, Medieval Mayhem Coming This December, New Cavalry Models From Brigade Models, and Just Four Days left on the Interface Zero kickstarter for Fate.
We have made it to Friday, ladies and gentlemen. Rejoice!
And, like, go eat some candy or something because of Halloween. Have yourself a good time.
Speaking of bite-size items such as those “fun” size candies (never did quite figure out what was so “fun” about them, but there we are, then), we have our usual platter of stories for you. These, however, know exactly why they’re fun.
In this batch we have: Free 15mm personality figure: Gaius Marius in Baueda Indiegogo Campaign, Final Day for Anarchy Models HD Stencils Wave 2 Kickstarter, The Prang by Eli Arndt moving to The Ion Age soon, Arena Rex Faction Dice Now Available, New Modern Adventurers & Mercs From Warhansa, and Plaid Hat Games Posts Halloween Downloadable Content for Mice & Mystics.
It’s starting to really get cool outside overnight. Literally speaking, soon the frost will be on the pumpkin. And that’s here in Atlanta. I’m sure any of you gamers further north than I have already experienced such.
So why not make up a batch of hot cocoa and huddle up next to the fire and read about some gaming news, eh? Laptops are nice and warm, after all.
In today’s batch of bite-sized stories we have: The Campaigner Survey 2015, Oddzial Osmy’s 3mm September Releases Arrive at PicoArmor – Including the B17, Oldhammer gets a new figure range from stalwarts of the gaming Industry, Creature College in its last week on Kickstarter, and Forgestarter Medieval Russians started.
And we’ve arrived. Friday. Such a great feeling. The weekend is just ahead with all the possibilities that it brings. I hope you’ve got some gaming lined up for yours. It is the perfect time for such things, after all.
Friday also brings us a new batch of bite-sized stories.
This group includes: Brigade Models – new 15mm SF Utility Vehicles, Khurasan releases 15mm Stryker, Raid & Trade: War on the Streets Coming to Kickstarter, Wisdom from the Wastelands Issue #51: Mutated Animal/Plant Genotypes, Fat Goblin Games to release new Shadows over Vathak Corebooks, Orctober Speshuls From Kromlech, 2015 Update for “Spiel in Essen” App by Gioconomicon.net, Ancient Samnites Previewed at Victrix, Contemptor Pattern Volkite Culverin Available to order from Forge World, and Spawn of Sharktipede Up on Kickstarter.
Historical miniatures have quite a long and storied… umm… history. The very first minis games were based on recreating historical battles on tabletops and floors. So Sabresquadron has quite a pedigree of historical games. But where many of them focus on times such as Napoleonic, Revolutionary, or WWII, this game focuses on the past several decades. Heck, there’s some of you that fought in some of the conflicts that the game aims to let you play out.
Our week is halfway over, dear TGN readers! For many, it’s been a shortened week. That must be nice.
And hopefully you have some gaming planned for the weekend. I’m not entirely sure what my plans are going to be yet.
Anyway, as it’s Wednesday and it’s 2pm (here in Atlanta, anyway), it’s time for our Midweek Snippets post.
In this batch of bite-sized stories we have: New The Army Painter Hobby Set Announced, Hero sheet for Nova Aetas from Ludus Magnus Studio, and Oddzial Osmy’s 3mm August Releases Arrive at PicoArmor.
Those lazy, hazy, crazy Sundays of summer. We don’t have many of them left. It’s already noticeably cooler here in Atlanta. You don’t go outside and instantly curse.
Anyway, we’ve got a selection of bite-sized stories for you.
In this batch of Snippets we have: Purgatory Miniatures Previews First Model, Some Installments of The Fiver from The Meeple Mechanic, Back in Business Warmodelling now is Battlemodels, Oddzial Osmy’s 3mm July Releases Arrive at PicoArmor, and Lords of the World Fantasy Miniatures Previewed.
Welcome back to Friday, beautiful TGN reader.
Do you have any gaming lined up for this weekend?
I’m going to be cooking. If you want to talk about that, I’ll meet you down in the comments section. 😛
As for now, we’ve got some bite-sized stories for you.
In this batch we have: HADES Banshee VTOL now available for Pre-Order from ClearHorizon Miniatures, Kromlech New Release – Legionary Shields, Willy Miniatures Undead & Necromantic Team video advance, New 28mm Napoleonic Ottomans from Matchlock Minis, Sabresquadron Has Gone To Print, Dragon Head Coins Series #2 on Kickstarter, New Bases from WarGamma, and a couple new installments of The Fiver.
We continue on with the post-Gen Con week’s work. Though I was able to keep up with a lot of things, obviously, things are going to fall behind in some areas. I’m almost out of the mountain of e-mails I’d gotten over the weekend. If I’ve not replied to you yet, don’t worry, I will. There’s just a lot to sort through.
At the moment, though, it’s sorting through a bunch of bite-sized stories.
This time around we’ve got: Age of Tyrants Updates Rulebook, New Heroic Scale Female Heads from Statuesque Miniatures, Fablestone Dice: Bone Origins now on Kickstarter – fantasy themed dice with innovative features, Another Warthrone approved army list: High Elves from Warhammer, Khurasan releases 15mm Middle Eastern Irregulars, Free Miniature for August from The Ion Age, Pay What You Want Adventure Module Now Available, New 32mm Lava themed bases Available from Dark Art Miniatures, Evil Bear Wargames First Release: Bear Tactical Hardsuits, and some more installments of The Fiver from The Meeple Mechanic.
Radio Dishdash and Skirmish Sangin is running a Kickstarter campaign for The Day of the Rangers (also called Maalintii Rangers) and a new figure range they’re calling Gothic Serpent. The new book is full of scenarios for fighting modern military combat on your tabletop.
June 1967 was a good month for Israel’s military. In the course of just six days, they defeated their enemies. A major battle during the conflict was fought at the old Turkish fort of An-Nakhl. Battlefront has a new Desert Fort kit coming out and figured people might want to recreate the battle of An-Nakhl on their tabletop. So they’re having themselves a bit of a sale on Fate of a Nation figures for a couple weeks.
There’s a somewhat controversial statement that as much history happened in the 20th century as had happened in all the previous years leading up to it. With WWI, WWII, Vietnam, and the Cold War all happening during those 100 years, it’s not hard to see why someone might think that way. There was certainly plenty of conflict going on, and the Society of Twentieth Century Wargamers help you bring those to your tabletop with their regular journal, of which, issue 83 is now available.
Wednesday is once again upon us, dear TGN readers. We’ve been having a busy week at the office. I’m working on a few review articles that’re coming up, and yesterday we shot a new unboxing video.
But that’s as may-be. We’ve also collected various bite-sized stories and present them to you now.
This batch has: Okumarts Games releases Star Sailors for White Star, Two New Cowboys Added to Steam Horses Kickstarter Line Up, New Skirmish Sangin Scenario Free to Download, New Installments of The Fiver from The Meeple Mechanic, The Last Days for The Last Spike on Kickstarter, Heer46 Announces Upcoming Indiegogo Campaign, Space Goblin Campaigner free during June at The Ion Age, New Aegis Suit Satin Varnish from The Army Painter, Celestial Knight by Kabuki Models: WIP, Age of Tyrants website launched, Golem Miniatures Launches Indiegogo Campaign, Pedion Modular Battlefields Kickstarter Going Into Stretch Goals, New Range rulers for WWII armies from Warchimera, New Orc Flying Ace from Kromlech, Manorhouse Workshop Update #29 – Modular Underground Project – First Pieces in Hard Plastic, and Deep-Cut Studio releases new gaming mat for futuristic football.
My fellow TGN readers, welcome to another Sunday Edition. I hope your Saturday was good and your Sunday is being productive. My D&D group from yesterday came close to TPK at least twice. But that’s what happens when you charge up to 4 Dire Bears and basically give them a turn to munch on your character before the next character from the party is there to help. Oh well. Nobody hit -10, so they were able to keep-on keepin’-on.
As for today, we’ve got another batch of bite-sized stories for you.
This set includes: New Kromlech Releases – Static Grass and Battle Dice, Oddzial Osmy’s 3mm April Releases Arrive at PicoArmor, Heroic Maps – Explorer: Wild Places released, Manorhouse Workshop Update #26 – Modular Underground Project – In the box, Copper Mine Miniatures running Mechanical Steamhorse Kickstarter, Brutal Force – Icarus Miniature Preview Jesse Pope, and Victrix Ltd. Limited Edition Rude Roman shield transfers.
Wednesday. The previous weekend is two days behind us. The next weekend is two days ahead of us. We are perched atop a precipice. Which isn’t to say “it’s all downhill from here,” but I guess you could consider it as such.
At the very least, I hope the first half of the week went smoothly and that the rest of the week follows suit.
In the meantime, we’ve got our collection of bite-sized stories we want to present to you now.
In this batch we have: Adarga Castings releases new 28mm Korean War Communist Forces, Heroic Maps Releases Wardenhale: Docks, The Gentleman’s Query, A Refined Coin Series – Coin #1 on Kickstarter, Voodooworx Miniatures Launch New Website, Warfighter/Skirmish Sangin “Hearts and Minds” Free Scenario Releases, 15mm Orc Buildings pre-order offer at 15mm.co.uk, Punkapocalyptic Previews Stretch Goals on Indiegogo, Monster Dice by Trilania up on Kickstarter, Brigade Models – new 2mm English Forts, Red Duke Games Announces Upcoming Kickstarter for Numinous card game, Dungeon Revolutions by Brickerium coming soon to Kickstarter, and Free Robot Stretch Goal Added to Ramshackle Robots Kickstarter.
Welcome to Wednesday you wonderful … umm… something-gaming-related-that-begins-with-W! The first half of the week is over. It’s all downhill from here to a hopefully gaming-filled weekend. I’ve got my plans set, heading over to a friend’s house for his birthday party where there will be plenty of gaming to be had. I don’t know of anyone else more into gaming than Joe-Nathan, so it should be a blast.
Anyway, that’s as may-be. At the moment, we’ve once more collected the bite-sized stories together we’ve found over the past couple days and present them to you now on a silver platter we like to call “Snippets.”
In this batch we have: New Outer Space Play Mats from Gale Force 9, New Woodland Mat from Pwork Wargames, Atlantis Miniatures Previews Upcoming Orc and Goblin Range of Minis, 31cm tall Idol of Cthulhu preorder + New WIP of the Dragon Queen by Kabuki Models, Khurasan releases 15mm uparmoured HMMWVs, Amera Plastic Mouldings New 1/48 Fighter Blast Pen, Gaddis Gaming Launches Gaming Tabletop Kickstarter, Dwarves Veterans 10 miniatures set from Scibor, New Heroic Maps – Terrain: Lunar, YanDrassi range released at 15mm.co.uk, ModCube Customizable Token/Dice On Kickstarter, Siren Miniatures new releases – its girls time, Okumarts Games Launches Steampunk Print and Play Miniature Line, Sebitar Workshop running 15mm Wizard’s Tower Indiegogo Campaign, and New Southgate Terrain Piece from Thomarillion.
Here we are again. Half-through with the week. With any luck, you’ve had some gaming opportunities. Or at the very least, have some coming up. Looks like I’ve got D&D again this weekend. Should be a good time, though we’ve got a player moving to Ohio soon. So we’re getting in whatever sessions we can before then.
Anyway, as per our custom, we’ve collected some of the more bite-sized stories we’ve collected over the past couple days and present them to you now.
In this batch we have: New Cultists and Female SFA Troopers released at 15mm.co.uk, Mage Company Previews Upcoming 12 Realms Kickstarter, Burrovian Casualty Packs for Flintloque Released, End Times Units & The One Page Rules Playroom, Icarus Miniatures Concept Art Preview: Kara Mariasha, Some more Editions of The Fiver from The Meeple Mechanic, Kabuki Models Previews Little Red Riding Hood, Amera Plastic Mouldings New 15mm trenches released, World’s End Publishing to Officially Release This Is Not a Test on May 2, RN Estudio releases Kyara miniature, New Satyras The Faun mini from Blacksmith Miniatures, Voodooworx Miniatures Release New Character, April’s Free Skirmish Sangin Scenario Now Posted, New Undead Ground Round-Lip Bases from Tabletop-Art, Sally 4th Press Release: 28mm UK style roads, New 6mm SF Desert Buildings from Brigade Models, Fantasy Coins Kickstarter Happening Now, Deep-Cut Studio releases urban ruins themed gaming mats, and Fireforge Games: Euro price list changes.
I hope everyone had a great International TableTop Day yesterday. Though, of course, the spirit of International TableTop Day is with us always, and we should celebrate as often and with as many people as we possibly can.
As for us here at TGN, it’s another Sunday. So as my arm heals from getting my werebear tattoo colored in and my roux for the gumbo I’m making starts to brown, here’s another set of bite-sized stories we collected over the last few days.
In this batch we have: 1p40k Beginner’s Guide & One Page Rules Anniversary, some more editions of The Fiver from The Meeple Mechanic, New Armada accessories from CorSec Engineering, Oddzial Osmy’s 3mm March Releases Arrive at PicoArmor, Stoelezel’s Structures launches the Underlooked Inn, New Angry EON Mini from Hitech Miniatures, and Final Day for Olleys Armies Scrunt Empire on Kickstarter.
You’ve survived another week! You deserve something special. You know, you’ve worked hard. Take the next two days off, on me. (Note: offer only valid if you work Monday-Friday. I don’t need anyone messaging me saying I got them fired over the weekend. 😛 ) Hopefully you have some gaming action lined up. My D&D got moved to next weekend. So this weekend I’m getting my tattoo finally colored in. I’m rather excited. I’ve been wanting to finish the piece for months now.
For those that don’t know, I’ve got the werebear artwork, done by the legendary and world-famous Heath “BA” Foley, from Blackwater Gulch on my upper right arm. Yeah, it’s a bear and has gaming ties. What sort of game-related tattoos do the rest of you have? Share yours and there may be a special prize in it for one lucky commenter. (do try and keep photos work-appropriate, as much as possible, please)
Anyway, on to the bite-sized stories we’ve collected in the past couple days.
This installment we’ve got: Campaign Coins Starter Sets and Epic Treasure Kickstarter, Market of Heroes Running T-Dice Kickstarter Campaign, Human Interface Nakamura Tower KS terms and game announcement, New Girl and Mummy Mini from Brother Vinni, Fantasy Arc releases fan inspired pieces for the Bug Hunt Corridors, Khurasan releases 15mm BTR-60PB, Heroic Maps Releases Modular Kit: Industrial Spacecraft Rooms, ‘Gamers Behaving Badly’ Launches Season 2 Kickstarter, New Napoleonic Ottoman Infantry 28mm from Miniature Figurines, Muster Platoon with Unique Miniature released at The Ion Age, Tabletop Fantasy re-releases at 15mm.co.uk, New Dwarves Cannoneers from Scibor, New Lone Wolf Figures from Minifigs, New Drago Kenthorius Mini from Hitech Miniatures, and New basing material in the GEG store: Gamers’ Grass.
Friday is once more upon us. I hope you’ve got plans for gaming over the next couple days, be it FNM, some miniatures action, or maybe an RPG or two. I’ve got some projects on my desk to work on in the form of some minis to build for review articles. Should be a good time. Reminds me that I need to borrow the good camera for the weekend.
Anyway, as is custom, we’ve collected some bite-sized stories and now giving them to you to snack on.
In this group we’ve got: Von Rotte Light Troops released by Alternative Armies, a new free scenario for Skrimish Sangin, New 32mm bases from Tabletop-Art, 4 New Desert Tomb Maps from Heroic Maps, USA Today talks about Earth Encounters, New Photo-Realistic Building Release from Sally 4th, Coming Soon from Silly Kid Games: Golem Academy Action Anime Card Game, Khurasan releases Space Demon Vampires, New 32mm bases from Micro Art Studio, and New Legionary Smash Hammers from Kromlech.
Sunday, rainy Sunday. At least, here in Atlanta it’s raining. Due to gaming much of the day yesterday (rpg variety for me, though electronic in nature. Hey! I’m allowed!), it’s “do all the chores!!” day here. Most important is the giant stewpot of red beans simmering on the stove. That’s going to be heavenly later.
And as a very loose segue, let’s move on to the bite-sized stories we’ve collected over the last few days for you.
So while Adepticon wraps up in Chicago, we bring you: Battle Studios to become Full-Time Company, Marauder Ship Paper Model Kit Released by Dave Graffam, Steornede Battlesuits Released from The Ion Age, New Website Coming for Gripping Beast, Acheson Creations Dungeon Worlds Kickstarter #2 – Mushroom Gate – Coming This Summer, Kaiju Kaos: The Soundtrack, Vol 2 on Kickstarter, Fox Box released ‘Sororitas Arcanum’, New Weapon Releases from Kromlech, and the 1 Year Anniversary of Guild Ball.
Friday! Friday! Friday!
It’s Friday… and while I wouldn’t say “I’m in love,” I’m at least happy that it’s Friday.
Hopefully you’ve got some gaming planned for the weekend. Some of you will be gaming at Adepticon. Those are the lucky ones. Some of you will be forced through a fine mesh screen for your gaming. Those are the luckiest ones of all.
We’ve brought together another set of bite-sized stories for you to nosh on while you prepare for whatever you might be doing this weekend.
In this installment we’ve got: Bilbo Nesta Marley and The Macaroons – An Adventure from a time before Blackpowder, New scenery pieces preview from Multiverse Gaming, New Walking Egyptian Girl from Brother Vinni, Warsaw Rising Up 1945-1980 Up on Wspieram.to (it’s a Polish crowd-funding site), Khurasan previews 15mm Peshmerga fighters, New Debris Field and Asteroid Tokens from CorSec Engineering, Last call for Amazons and Automatons from Crocodile Games, New Releases available from WarGamma, The Fiver with Swarm of Dice LLC on Designing Loot & Recruit, New Tank Preview from Mad Robot Miniatures, and Tabletop Adapters Kickstarter running now.
Though it’s raining here in Atlanta on this Friday the 13th, we’re not letting it get us down. GAMA is next week, as well as AdeptiCon. So there’s plenty to be looking forward to.
And, of course, there’s gaming this weekend. For me, there’ll be D&D. What do you have in store?
In this installment of Snippets, we have: More installments of The Fiver from The Meeple Mechanic, Final Week and New Pledge Levels for Fujian Trader, Tabletop-Art Previews Upcoming 32mm Bases, New 10mm modular building range for DZC available from War Mage Games, Oddzial Osmy’s 3mm February Releases Arrive at PicoArmor, New Maori Pa Terrain from Catalyst Creative, Legendary Metal Coins Now Live On Kickstarter, LaserCutCard Stacked Containers Plus Bundle Offer, New Dead Man’s Hand 4Ground pre-painted buildings and accessories, and EZPainter Kickstarter updates and Rates news.
Battlefront might be busy dealing with Dust Studios right now, but they’ve not forgotten about the game that got them to where they are: Flames of War. They’ve posted up a look at what they have coming up for the game. Expect to head to Germany’s borders and then further on to Berlin. There’ll be fights on the Mekong river in Tour of Duty. There’ll be a trip back again to WWI. Then we rocket back forward again to conflicts between NATO and the Warsaw Pact in Fulda Gap. Finally, the year will end in the Pacific with conflicts between the Japanese and Americans.

It’s a drizzly Sunday here in Atlanta. But I’ve got gumbo simmering on the stovetop and a batch of fresh cookies. So all is well.

Battlefront continues their “all artillery, all the time” previews for Fate of a Nation with a look at the M50 155mm gun. It certainly can’t be said that you don’t have options in your methods of bombardment in that game.
I’ve got basically no knowledge of the conflict the game surrounds, but it seems there were lots of artillery pieces present.
Napoleon would’ve loved it.
From the article: Continue reading
Battlefront doesn’t want you to have to leave your artillery pieces without crew and looking like there’s no leadership. So they’re showing off their Artillery HQ and Crew for Fate of a Nation. While most of the artillery was surplus from WWII, it doesn’t mean it was any less effective on the battlefield.
From the article: Continue reading
Battlefront knows all those artillery pieces they’ve been showing off lately aren’t any good unless you’ve got a good command structure in place to know where to aim all of it. As such, they’re showing off their Israeli Command Teams for Fate of a Nation.
From the website: Continue reading
Battlefront continues their study of artillery pieces used during the 6-Day War with a look at the 37mm 61-k gun. This one’s equally as useful against infantry and light vehicles as it is against aircraft. Rather versatile, indeed.
From the website: Continue reading
Battlefront seems to have no end to the artillery pieces they’re showing off for Fate of a Nation. This one’s the 120mm Artillery Battery. This set includes one Command Rifle team, one Staff team, one Observer Rifle team, and two four M65 120mm mortars with crew.
