Sharp Practice Second Edition Available From Too Fat Lardies

Sometimes games just need to get themselves a little update. Old mechanics that worked at the time get to seem bulky or don’t adequately cover what you want them to. New units surpass old ones in value. Things just seem stale. It happens. Well, Too Fat Lardies felt it was time to update Sharp Practice, their historical game of 1700-1865 combat. So they updated it. And now it’s available.

Midweek Snippets

As days go by… we get closer and closer to the weekend. We’re at the crest and about to start working our way back downward to those blessed days off (well, I’ll still be making some post on the weekend, but you already knew that). Since it is the middle of the week, that means it’s time for a sampler platter of bite-sized stories.

Today’s snippets include: Grand Manoeuvre to publish Nineteenth Century Rules, New Orc Melee Weapons From Kromlech, New Tech Order Heads from Puppets War, Gemhammer Deck of Many Things Up On Kickstarter, Pig Iron Productions closing its doors, and Klukva Miniatures Previews New Releases.

New Releases For Black Powder Line From Warlord Games

While Bolt Action might encompass a very specific set of years, Warlord Games’ Black Powder line spans quite a number of years, as well as numerous conflicts that took place all across the globe during said time periods. There are a couple new releases for the line that are separated by as much as 60 years.

Friday Snippets

It’s time once again for Friday. Now, normally, the week after a “short week” (such as last week) feels like they take forever. At least, to me they do. That’s why if given my druthers, I’d have a Monday off rather than a Friday. You get a long weekend and then a short week, as opposed to a short week, long weekend, then a regular week. But that’s me. Anyway, I’m happy to say that this week feels like it’s just flown by. Here we are already ready for a weekend. And baking fruitcake will be my reward.

But before we can get there, we have some business to attend to, such as a group of bite-sized stories we’ve collected over the past couple days. What sort of stories?

Ones like these: New Releases Available for Wolsung SSG from Micro Art Studio, Khurasan pre-release deal for 15mm late Cold War armour, Shark Day Miniature Available From Wonderlands Project, Krampus for Kaiju Kaos: The Miniatures Game Released, New releases for By Fire and Sword, Coming Soon – The Prometheans from Nexus Miniatures, Kromlech Legionary Thunder Gun with under-barrel Plasma Gun Now Available, Slavic Fantasy Miniatures Kickstarter by Deraj Studios has Launched, WH40k: Tactical Objectives App Release Date Announced, Post Captain Squadron Action Scenarios Posted, Bombshell Babes 2 on Preorder from Bombshell Miniatures, and Alexander Nevsky ready for Forgestarter campaign.

In the meantime, though, we have a collection of bite-sized stories to bring you.

Today’s batch includes: Another World Miniatures Releases Maya Miniature, Grand Manoeuvre to publish Nineteenth Century Wargames rules in February, Final Hours for Kill Dr. Lucky On Kickstarter, Warmachine: Tactics Mercenary Warcaster Screenshot previews, Ratgard: Preview of the New Anti-aircraft missile, Kromlech New Release – Plaguelings, Warbears and Stagriders Funded: On to Awesome Stretch Goals, Braille RPG Dice from 64 Oz. Terrain Corner

Monday, Monday (ba-la, ba-la-la-laaaa). Some people (and Garfield) aren’t fans of Monday. I don’t necessarily dislike them. So no, I don’t have a “Case of the Mondays.” I hope you don’t have them, either.

What I do have is a case of “Terrain Corner Fever.” The only cure is telling you about the terrain stories I’ve come across recently (and more cowbell, because more cowbell is always needed).

Today’s stories include: New Terra-Block Warehouse Kit From Sally 4th, New in the Buxey 1815 Collection from Battlefield Buildings: Gemioncourt Farm, Stacks of Crates Set 1 Now Available from Tabletop-Art, Mini Duels Table Top Terrain for 28mm games On Kickstarter, Manorhouse Workshop Update # 2 – Modular Terrain, and Front Arc announced new watchtowers and bridges set.

New Ottoman Janissaries Available for Pike & Shotte from Warlord Games

I’ve been doing this job for a while now. I’ve seen the term Janissaries used all over the place on historical figures. It wasn’t until this news post that I found out that the term Janissaries comes from the Turkish for “new soldier.” You learn something new every day. Well, if you want to pick up some new soldiers for your Pike & Shotte armies, Warlord Games has got you covered.

TGN Sunday Edition

It’s Sunday (at least at time of posting in much of the world… stupid time zones…). I hope you were able to get out and get some gaming on yesterday (or perhaps some today). My party did not get TPK yesterday. Though some party relations were strained a bit. Remember, everyone, communication is key.
Also, Fighters hate having to make Will saves.

But that’s as may be. We’ve collected some bite-sized stories over the past couple days and present them to you now.

In this batch we have: A couple more sets of The Fiver, New 2mm Roman Buildings from Brigade Models, Meridian Miniatures release Chibi Hippogryph for Tooth & Sword, Old Dominion GameWorks posts Post Captain Master index pt 1, Universal Adventures Celestial Invocations Now Available, and Stag Rider unveiled for The Shattered Crown.

Victorian Steel is a rules set for fighting battles in the Colonial Era. They’re now available online.

Victorian Steel

Source

From the release:

Victorian Steel rules came about as a result of us not being able to find a set of rules that captured the spirit of Victorian Colonial Warfare. The aspects we wanted to capture included the European ability to deliver a volley and follow it up with cold steel whilst also giving the natives a chance to use their natural advantages of climate and familiarity with the terrain often accompanied by rapid movement which the European forces could rarely match.

Warlord Games is throwing a party, an engineer working party, over in their webshop.

Source

From the release:

Out today is the hard-working Engineer Working Party for Pike & Shotte, standing ready to build your siege lines and earthworks:

It was not all marching and fighting in 17th century armies. Roads were normally appalling and needed to be mended, widened or drained. Bridges needed building, repairing, strengthening or demolishing. Houses, great and small could be made into strongpoints by loop holing the walls. Ditches were dug around camps and forts, and the artillery protected by ravelins, spiked posts and fences.
