Empress Miniatures have posted details of some new miniatures and articles soon to be available.
From their website:
Our Zulus with cowtail adornments have arrived back form the casters so you can expect those to appear in the shop this week. We will also be putting up the first of our accessories packs - six brand new British soldier heads which can be used to convert your figures for more variety or perhaps could even become the basis for you own creations?
Also in the pipeline is the first in a series of articles detailing the shields and uniforms of the various Zulu regiments. These articles are designed to help you accurately paint your Zulus and in some cases we will be detailing at which engagements they fought.

Baccus have posted photos of the greens for new 6mm colonial Sudan figures.
From their website:
First up, here’s a couple of pictures of the masters of the Camel Corps from the colonial Sudan range. And for those who like to see these things, here’s a close-up next to a penny so you can judge the actual size of the models and the quality of these sculpts.
The Naval Brigade, the Highlanders and other choice goodies will soon be done and I hope to have these out sometime in September.
There is also word of a new “mix and match” artillery order page and news of a delay in the production of Polemos Napoleonic 2nd edition rules.

Empress Miniatures have posted photos of their new 28mm Zulu miniatures on their Workbench page.
From their website:
The first packs will be 8 married and 8 unmarried warriors. The majority are open handed so that they can carry various weapons and shields which will be included in every pack. Shields used were of both the older large size as well as the more modern fighting shields. Firearms were very common due to a pre war policy of trading for muskets. These trade muskets were predominantly of the flintlock and percussion variety. Martini Henry’s were very rare and theories suggesting that the units at Rorke’s Drift carried them after looting the British bodies at Isandlwana are illogical as the units had missed the action. As the war progressed and more defeats were inflicted upon Lord Chelmsford army the Martini Henry became more available.

Baccus have updated their website with photos of some of their new 6mm Mahdist miniatures as well as news of their next set of releases.
From their website:
‘But where is the Khartoum relief column?’, I hear you cry. Work is advanced on the British forces sent to help General Gordon. For those of you waiting for the Camel Corps to hove into sight, it’s not too far away.
Moving to other works in progress, the Sassanid Persians are progressing steadily and I’ll post some pictures of the masters in the next update. The layout work on Polemos Napoleonics is also making good progress and I hope to have news on the release date within the next 2-3 weeks.
I’m afraid there is bad news for those of you awaiting the next Baccus Podcast. I’d just finished recording it when my PC caught a nasty bug and lost a lot of data files. Unfortunately only one section had been backed up at this stage which means I have to record it all again. I’ll get it done as soon as I can, but not promises on this yet.

Wargames Factory have announced a series of discounts and freebies to customers that pre-ordered their 28mm plastic Roman and Celt boxed sets.
From their website:
Yesterday we updated everyone on the new release dates for our first two boxes (Romans and Celts) along with the brand new set of miniatures (British Line Infantry for the Zulu War) that will launch next month with them.
We promised to follow up to tell you how we hoped to make up for our delays to those who made a pre-order commitment. The email to pre-order customers has just gone out — so now we can post this:
First, everyone who pre-ordered the Romans and Celts will be receiving a free box of the British Zulu War figures!
Second, if you have pre-ordered both the Romans AND the Celts (as most of you have) - the Romans will be shipping first, so we will take care of all additional shipping charges for the Celts.
Third, I had mentioned previously that the first 2500 boxes of Celt Cavalry would be discounted by 20% — and we will be doing that when the box is released in late September.
Check out their website for full details and more specifics on their plans.

Wargames Factory have announced a departure for the company with photos and details of 28mm plastic British Zulu War miniatures. They have also posted a revised release schedule for their Roman and Celt boxed sets.

From their website:
First, I want to start off by apologizing for the lack of updates…we’re about to change that starting today. I’m also committing to spending more time responding to feedback left on the website to stay in touch and keep everyone up to date on all releases going forward.
As you may have noticed, we’ve had some challenges that I’m happy to say are now far, far behind us and we’re moving ahead at a rapid pace.
Given that, a picture says a thousand words so without further ado, introducing the world’s first (?) hard plastic multi-part Colonial era miniatures! British Line Infantry from the Zulu War.
These are photos of several of the test sprues laid out with a close up of the the sprue showing the detail.
Check out their website for more details and more pictures of the sprues.

Empress Miniatures have updated their Workbench page with photos of the greens for several of their 28mm Zulu figures.
From their website:
As part of our brief to produce historic figures, our first release of Zulu’s may cause surprise to many. They are not covered in regimental or tribal distinctions nor weighed down by ceremonial regalia. Based on recent research we show here the Zulu warrior as he appeared in battle. Stripped of virtually everything and ready for action.
The first packs will be 8 married and 8 unmarried warriors. The majority are open handed so that they can carry various weapons and separate weapons and shields will be included in every pack. Shields used were of both the older large size as well as the more modern fighting shields. Firearms were very common due to a pre war policy of trading for muskets.

From their announcement:
We’ve been very busy this last month or so. The latest release in the Ethiopian Army is ETH-3, Ethiopian Militia in traditional dress with rifles. In 1935, conscription in Ethiopia found many units with rifles but without modern uniforms. These militia wear traditional Ethiopian white cotton dress and carry rifles. Some time in August we’ll have Ethiopian militia with traditional weapons as well.
And more Italians
We’ve added Regular Italian infantry the Italian range. There is also a new command pack; there’s also an infantry pack and a regular infantry special

Baccus have announced the release of the first miniatures in their 6mm Mahdist range.

From their website:
The good news for all of those who have been emailing me ceaselessly since I started on a Colonial range is that the first releases for the Mahdist range are now available. There are four codes in this batch. The Mahdist and Hadendowah infantry can be seen in the section below, and these are now joined by Mahdist Cavalry and Camelry. These will soon be joined by sundry Emirs, Riflemen and artillerymen to complete the range.
We’ll be adding the British forces for the 1884/85 campaign first, using the existing Zulu Wars British as the basis for this range. This means that you can start collecting both sides immediately. The later campaigns will come be added later this year or early in 2009.
We’ll have lots of these little chappies and their chums at Partizan this weekend and there’s still time to get your pre-orders for the show in to us.

Pete at Baccus has posted photos of the greens from some upcoming 6mm Colonial Sudanese miniatures as well as a few notes about some other upcoming releases.
From his website:
So what of new projects, you ask? On the figures side, the sculpting of the ancient Goths nears completion and work is well underway on the Mahdi’s forces for the Colonial Sudanese range. Here’s a couple of piccies to show you what to expect.
On the rules front, I am putting the finishing touches to the next version of the Command Horizon SF rules which should be available for download sometime next week. Immediately after that, work starts in earnest on the layout of the much-anticipated Polemos ACW rules which I hope to have in print by July. Somewhere in all of this I hope to slip in another podcast and the occasional hour or two of sleep…
