I know I’ve been following this one since the initial greens started showing up. A lot of you have, too. If you’re a fan of Polynesian culture and wish to infuse some of that into your fantasy sports games, you’ll want to check out Punga Miniatures and their Savage Orcs Kickstarter. Not just one, but two teams are available as part of the campaign. Plus, there’s my favorite mini out of the group, the Whale Troll.

4th Quarter Football Miniatures Game Up On Kickstarter

Just this past Monday, the College Football Championship was held. Actually, it was just downtown from where I’m at. And while the game was on after my bedtime, I did watch highlights the next morning. What a way to end a game! There’s various games out there that are American-Football-Like, but 4th Quarter Football looks to actually recreate the traditional gridiron on your tabletop. The game’s up on Kickstarter now.

Santa Chaos Magnetic Fantasy Football Team Up On Kickstarter

Sometimes it can be really difficult when putting a model together because of all the options you’ve got. Which head looks better? What accessories are the best? Do you have a preference between a couple different backpacks? All of this can lead to potentially not assembling the thing because you’ve got paralysis of design. Well, with the Santa Chaos fantasy sports team up on Kickstarter, the figures are magnetized for you so you can swap out different options as you see fit.

Steamforged Previews February Releases

The Blacksmith’s Guild is the newest team to hit the pitches of Guild Ball. They’re a unique team in that they don’t have captains and mascots. It’s all just masters and apprentices. For now, there’s little variation in teams, as mostly just those first 6 figures are available. But if you’re waiting for the next batch to hit stores, you’ll be waiting until February. Steamforged is also showing off an alternate Bolt model you get when you pre-order through your LGS.

Punga Miniatures Previews Whale Troll Figure For Toa Orcs

I’m always a big fan of seeing new twists on classic miniatures types. There’s been troll miniatures around for seemingly forever, but I have to say, I’ve not seen so many whale trolls. Well, for those that are interested in the Toa Orcs that are coming from Punga Miniatures (like I am), then you’ll want to check out what they’ve been working on.

Steamforged Previews Farris and Bolt For Guild Ball

The game of Guild Ball is part rugby, part soccer, part football (and yes, I know many of you think that soccer and football are the same game, but you know what I’m talking about here), but in their upcoming expansion, the Blacksmiths are showing that it’s also part polo. Farris takes to the field on her horse, along with her apprentice, Bolt. Dude flings horse shoes. Check ’em out.

Steamforged Previews More Black Friday Alternate Miniatures

I’ve mentioned before that I love alternate sculpts for figures, and it’s true. I think they’re a great way to have holiday and event special figures that doesn’t have people that couldn’t attend/whatever miss out on chunks of the game. Well, Steamforged has shown off some of the alternate-sculpt minis they’re going to have this Friday. They’ve just shown off some more now.

Steamforged Announces Rookie League Event

People love to see characters grow and change over time. That’s the whole point of the narrative structure for a story. In Guild Ball, we’ve seen how numerous characters have progressed along (including now taking dirt naps, because the Guild Ball fluff is the Game of Thrones of miniatures sports games). But what about heading the other direction? By that, I mean taking characters we know and seeing where they came from. That’s what the Rookie League is all about.

Well, for those that are into the Farmer’s Guild and looking to get the new box that’s coming out in January, you can also pick up an alternate-sculpt Millstone. How? Just order from your LGS and tell them you want one.

Steamforged Previews Cast For Blacksmith’s Guild

The Blacksmith’s Guild is different from the others in Guild Ball. Their teams are always made up of 3 Masters and 3 Apprentices. As each Master has a specific Apprentice they work with, there’s a strong impetus to use the matching pairs. Well, we’ve seen the Master Burnish. So what’s his apprentice like? Well, her name’s Cast and you can get a look at her here.

Steamforged Previews Veteran Minx For Guild Ball

Corvus Belli’s Aristeia, their new sci-fi sports action miniatures game, is still on its way to people’s tabletops, but with just about any game, as soon as it comes out, people are wondering, “so… expansions?” CB’s not wasting any time and has announced the first one, Soldiers of Fortune.

Thursday Terrain Corner

It’s odd. Each day this week I’ve found myself, at some point, looking at the clock and going, “How is it only (time)?! Geeze! Today is taking forever!” And yet, in contradiction of that, I’ve also found myself going, “Whoah! It’s already (day)!? This week is flying by!” So while each day is taking forever, the week is just speeding past. I don’t really get it, but it does mean we’re already most of the way to the weekend. I’m in my Thursday shirt, and that means it’s time to make your gaming tables look as good as possible.

Today in the Terrain Corner we have: New Steampunk Ironclads From Burn In Designs, Tabletop Scenics Giving Away An Orc Quarters, Skull Forge Scenics Halloween Sale Happening Now, Acheson Creations at Fall In! and Millennium Con, New Modern Civilian 28mm – 32mm Vehicles From Antenociti’s Workshop, and New Masons and Brewers Terrain For Guild Ball.

Steamforged Posts Final Version of Guild IDs for Guild Ball

Though sports teams are built around a core style that they want to utilize in order to win, each one will also practice ways to counter-act other team’s special styles. You certainly know of teams that focus more on offense or defense, or some other specialization. Guild Identity Cards for Guild Ball let coaches customize their team a bit more with a particular style of play, some of which help them against certain other styles. Steamforged has been going through beta tests of these for a while now. Well, that’s finished and you can now find the final versions of these cards online.

Steamforged Previews New Harry the Hat Minis For Guild Ball

The Union in Chains event continues along. It sees the Union guild captured, tortured, interrogated, and then make a break for freedom. Who will make it out? Who will end up with other guilds? Well, we know some things if you’ve been reading along with the fluff and following the results (all my teams are losing… so I’ll end up with nothing, apparently). We’ve got a new preview for you today.
Note: spoilers if you’ve not read the story yet.

Steamforged Previews Burnish for Blacksmith’s Guild

It’s getting cold here in Georgia. Well… cold for Georgia, anyway. Lots of my office mates are bundling up in coats and hats. I’m still in shorts and a t-shirt, because I’m from Chicago. But even I consider it to be getting a bit cool out. I’d certainly like to warm up a bit. And if I lived in the world of Guild Ball, Burnish would be just the sort of guy I’d talk to about that. He’s an upcoming player for the Blacksmith’s Guild, and you can get a look at him here.

Aristeia Now Available For Pre-Order

Aristeia is Corvus Belli’s foray into the sporting miniatures game arena. For those that’ve seen the previews and want to jump in on it, you can place your pre-order now. Orc Blitzer Available From Punga Miniatures

It’s starting to get rather chilly outside. Some of my coworkers have started turning on the heat at their place. I’m still in shorts, t-shirt, and sandals because I’m originally from Chicago. Other people that are still in shorts, t-shirt, and sandals are those out on tropical islands. It doesn’t get too cold there. And while that doesn’t seem like enough covering when playing football, it’s pretty much all this new Orc Blitzer’s got on from Punga Miniatures.

Steamforged Games Launches Halloween Sale, Previews New Union In Chains Alternates

Busy morning for Steamforged Games. First off, they’ve launched their Halloween Sale over in their webshop. They’ve got a trio of new kits you can pick up. One’s showcasing all the different characters that’ve died in the fluff, while another has a Pumpkin King vibe to it, with the last going back to the Bavarian traditions of Oktoberfest (hey, there is a Brewer’s Guild, after all). After that, they’ve also posed the next preview for the Union in Chains event. Will Gutter go to the Butchers or the Fishermen?

TGN Review: Deep-Cut Studios Custom Game Mat

Recently, Deep-Cut Studios started a new program where you can send in a photo and they’ll print a custom game mat for you. They sent out invitations for reviewers to get an early look at the service and give people their thoughts. I was one such reviewer selected, and since I’d been meaning to get a custom mat for a while, I jumped at the opportunity. So, let’s take a look at the custom printing service from Deep-Cut Studios in this TGN Review!

Halloween Hellraisers Fantasy Football Teams Up On Kickstarter

You know, despite the fact that it’s October (and more than halfway through it, at that), we’ve had relatively few “creepy, crawly, spooky, and haunted” sort of stories. Well, this post looks to help turn the tide in a more Boris Karlof and Bella Legosi direction. The Halloween Hellraisers Kickstarter campaign looks to fund two spooky (with a bit more of a cartoony feel) fantasy football teams.

Steamforged Previews Alternate Decimates For Guild Ball

The Union in Chains event is continuing.
… All my teams are losing… badly (or I guess, they’re really great at losing, it would seem). So there’s a chance I won’t get any of these awesome resculpted models for my teams, but that doesn’t mean someone won’t be getting them. In this preview, we get a look at two different forms for Decimate. One will exist as an actual mini. The other will just be a picture.

The first we get to look at is Hemlocke, who will end up with either the Hunters or Morticians.

Steamforged Announces Union In Chains Worldwide Event

Last year, Steamforged ran their The Butcher’s Civil War event, with players all over the world throwing their support either behind Brisket or Fillet. This year, the scope of their worldwide event is a bit more extensive. The Union, the “mercenaries” of the Guild Ball world, are the center of attention, as various players might be looking to make a permanent home with one of the other Guilds. But who will win these news players? That’s up to you to decide.

Steamforged Previews Alloy For Guild Ball

You might think that a team like the Blacksmith’s Guild would have all the subtlety of… well… a gigantic hammer smashing into a near-molten-hot piece of metal. “Ninja” might be the last thing on your mind. However, the Blacksmith’s Guild knows that just running headlong into the enemy at full speed might not always be the best strategy. As such, they’ve got Alloy, their “sneaky” Apprentice. Check out how they work in this preview.
