Video Coverage from CMON from Day 1 of Gen Con 2015

Gen Con is fully underway now. The first day went by in a flash. The energy in the air was palpable. Everyone I’ve talked to agrees that this year is much busier than last. When the doors open, there’s a huge rush as all the eager gamers head to the various booths in order to get the latest and greatest. One booth that attracted a lot of attention was CMON’s. With lots of new games available for the first time, the line quickly wrapped around the whole double-booth that they have.

CMON Posts Gen Con Pre-Releases and Events Schedule

I told you that gaming companies were going to be putting up their announcements and such for Gen Con. Well, here’s another one. This time around it’s CMON. They’ve posted up both their pre-releases they’ll have at the show, as well as the various events they’ve got planned.

New CoolMiniOrNot Twitter Account And Contest

Social Media. It’s everywhere. I know I’ve mentioned before that when I originally signed up for Facebook, I had to have my Kansas State University e-mail address verified. Now, look at what I do. I deal with social media all day. It’s basically my job (since I get a lot of stories from Facebook and Twitter, and TGN is “simulcast” on our own Facebook and Twitter feeds). Well, CoolMiniOrNot has a brand new Twitter account. In order to quickly grow their followers base, they’re having a contest.

Final 24 Hours of Zombicide: Black Plague Kickstarter

The end is nigh! The Zombicide: Black Plague Kickstarter will end in just 24 hours (that’s 8pm, Eastern, on July 6th, for those of you that see this not immediately at posting time). As expected, the total just keeps on rising, having crossed over $3 million and still going. There’s bunches of unlocked stretch goals, meaning the base pledge has a lot inside it. There’s all sorts of Survivors, lots of different types of Zombies, and even several different Abominations coming to the apocalypse party.

CMON Posts New Zombicide Releases

With the Zombicide: Black Plague Kickstarter campaign winding down (or winding up, depending on how you look at it, with all the unlocks expected in the next couple days), you might have forgotten about the original Zombicide game. Maybe the Medieval form isn’t quite for you. Maybe you prefer the present-day zombie-hacking. That’s perfectly fine. To help out with that, CMON has a new set of releases for the classic version of the game up on their website.

Neal Adams Guest Box Added to Zombicide Kickstarter

The end is near! … Really, there’s only 3 days left in the Zombicide: Black Plague Kickstarter. But CMON and Guillotine Games aren’t just sitting back, resting. Oh no, it’s a sprint to the end, as they give it their all, adding even more to the campaign. This time around it’s another guest artist box. Also, cards can sometimes get ornery, so there’s a little gizmo to keep them all together.

More Unlocks and Add-Ons for Zombicide: Black Plague

There’s less than a week left in the Zombicide: Black Plague Kickstarter campaign. That generally means that we’re about to see a big ramp up in backers and pledges, which means more unlocks and add-ons are coming. But that’s not to say that there’s been no action in the past couple days. Oh no, sir. There’s still been plenty going on.

Unlock the Monsters and Add the Doors

You’d think you’d unlock the doors, but when zombies are around, you’re more likely to want to add more on. This goes extra-true if there’s an Abominalpha running around. Both of these things are the case over in the Zombicide: Black Plague Kickstarter campaign. Continuing to surge right along, they’ve unlocked two new stretch goals (Thundergut and Abominalpha) and have added on new 3D doors as an optional buy.

Unlocks, Abominations, and Kopinskis on the Zombicide: Black Plague Kickstarter

It was a good weekend for Zombicide: Black Plague. First, people were able to try the new set out at the CMON Expo. We managed to snap a few photos of people enjoying the game. Go have a look for yourself here. That has brought in some more backers and this created a new unlocked stretch goal. The addition of new guest artist boxes as add-ons didn’t hurt, too, I’m sure.

More CMON Expo Photos

Well, Day 3 is coming to a close here at the CMON Expo 2015. It has been a great time. There’s been a lot of laughs, a lot of games, a lot of smack-talk, a lot of looking at some awesomely-painted figures, and a lot of just… gaming stuff. It’s always fun to talk with others who enjoy the gaming hobby as much as you do (or sometimes, their enthusiasm knows no bounds!). The show will be missed.

But we can always look back at the photos. We’ve put up a couple more galleries over on Facebook for you to check out.

Zombicide: Black Plague over $2mil

The number of people looking to fight against the zombie hordes in Zombicide: Black Plague keep rising. They have made it past the $2mil. mark on the Kickstarter campaign. To celebrate, they wanted to something big… very big. Horrendously, grotesquely, hugely big. That something is… the Ablobination.

CMON Looks to the Past, Present, and Future at CMON Expo 2015

The CoolMiniOrNot Expo 2015 (or CMON Expo if you’re hip) kicked off in Atlanta, Georgia today. For those of you unfamiliar with the event, it’s an annual tabletop gaming convention hosted by the folks at CMON where gamers get to try out the company’s past, present, and future games along with a wide array of other titles from companies like On The Lamb, Action Phase, Witchborn, and more. To kick off the event, CMON held their State of Affairs panel detailing its releases during 2014 and 2015, what’s to come later in 2015, and a taste of the games we can look forward to in the future. New Guest Box and Unlocked Stretch Goals for Zombicide: Black Plague

New Stretch Goals and Add-Ons for Zombicide: Black Plague

The Zombicide Kickstarter keeps chugging along. The campaign continues to make it through new stretch goals, adding more value to your pledge. There’s also more extras to add-on, if you feel the need to get everything (I know how that feels all too well).

More Busted Stretch Goals and New Add-Ons for Zombicide

The Zombicide continues on. The Kickstarter campaign shot out of the gate with their over $1mil. While things have slowed down a bit (it pretty much had to, to be fair), there’s still been several more stretch goals busted through, adding even more stuff to the box. Along with those, there’s new add-ons available as well, including another couple Special Guest Artist Boxes.

Well over $1mil Raised for Zombicide: Black Plague

It would seem as though the change of venue has caught the attention of gamers the world over. The launch of Zombicide: Black Plague quickly passed the funding goal (even with the hiccup in the server service that Kickstarter had right at the start) and has shot up well over $1 million in its first day (we’re even still a couple hours from a full 24 hours since time of launch). This is more than double what Rue Morgue made on its first day (that had previously held the title for “biggest launch day total for Zombicide).

Zombicide: Black Plague Launches on Kickstarter (Updated)

It’s here, folks! The moment you’ve all been waiting for! The Zombicide: Black Plague Kickstarter has launched. In this iteration, the game takes you back to a fantasy Middle Ages where evil Necromancers are causing a Zombie uprising. It’s up to the intrepid Survivors to not only live in this world, but they must be on the lookout for any Necromancers in the area and take them out, lest there be more and more Zombies drawn to the area.

TGN Preview: Zombicide: Black Plague

Many of you have played at least one of version of Zombicide by now, so you know whether you like the basic premise of the series from Guillotine Games. Run around a board made of up different tiles, complete objectives, and kill lots of zombies along with way. Currently, tabletop gamers have their pick of Zombicide, Prison Outbreak, and Rue Morgue (plus a few expansions), each bringing something a little different to the table. If you’re like me, I always felt each one was simply an iteration of the last, not degrading the experience but also not pushing it forward in an overly-meaningful way. However, after having a chance to sit down with a non-final version of the game, I’m happy to say I think that’s all going to change with Zombicide: Black Plague. Continue reading

While everyone’s chomping at the bit to get to Black Plague, previous seasons of Zombicide are making their way to store shelves near you, as well as online. Zombies! Dice!

TGN Exclusive: The Survivors of Zombicide: Black Plague, Part 5

A quick note to our readers, if you’ve been keeping up with the reveals everyday, you might have notice Samson’s Skills seem shockingly similar to Nelly’s from Thursday. That’s because they are! Or well, were. The designers at Guillotine Games caught the issue yesterday, and TGN has already posted an updated Nelly reveal with the appropriate ID card and commentary. However, if you’re just coming to these articles, everything is as it should be. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Over the past several days with the Survivors from Guillotine Games’ upcoming Zombicide: Black Plague, we’ve meet a lot of great human heroes, but any good fantasy setting needs a few fantasy races. Black Plague is no different. That’s why today’s reveal is so much fun. I’m talking about the dwarven blacksmith, Samson! If he isn’t swinging a smithy hammer at his anvil, he’s swinging a hammer at a Zombie’s head.

TGN Exclusive: The Survivors of Zombicide: Black Plague, Part 4

Update: This post has been edited since its initial publication. Guillotine Games discovered the stats for Nelly and Samson had been mixed up in some sort of horrible encounter with a Necromancer’s dark forces. (Imagine a designer’s face turning into something from Munch’s The Scream painting.)  These things happen, especially before a game is published. Below you’ll find the updated Survivor card and article for Nelly.

Over the past couple of days, we’ve met some interesting Survivors – a former paladin, a warrior nun and a wise wizard – from Guillotine Games’ upcoming game, Zombicide: Black Plague. Today, we take a look at a hero from the streets, or the tavern to be more exact. I’m not talking about some stumbling drunk either. I’m talking about the kick butt lady who has to deal with all of those drunks, Nelly!

TGN Exclusive: The Survivors of Zombicide: Black Plague, Part 3

When it comes to fighting the Zombies, Abominations, and Necromancers of Guillotine Games’ upcoming Zombicide: Black Plague, strength of conviction and sharpness of blade are key, as our previous Survivor reveals have shown. But blade and brawn are not the only way the game’s heroes stand against the horrors of their world. Magic is new to the Zombicide franchise, and today’s Survivor, Baldric, knows it well.

TGN Exclusive: The Survivors of Zombicide: Black Plague, Part 2

Yesterday TGN readers got an early look at the unstoppable warrior Clovis as part of our daily series revealing the six core Survivors from the next chapter of Guillotine’s successful Zombicide franchise. In Black Plague, players explore the tangled streets, buildings, and secret vaults of a medieval town while battling Zombies summoned by evil Necromancers. Today we turn to the next hero in the series: Anny, a nun out to right the wrongs of a monster infested world. And when you’re battling evil, there’s no one you want more on your side than a holy woman.

Now, TGN is getting an exclusive look at the core Survivors of Black Plague. Every day this week (and Saturday), we’ll highlight one Survivor from the game. When battling hordes of medieval Zombies and Necromancers, the world needs heroes like no others. In Black Plague, players can take control of a mighty warrior, an elf archer, a wise mage, a blacksmith dwarf, a tavern maid, or a nun out for holy vengeance. Today we’ll take a look at Clovis, our mighty warrior, and the game’s new dashboards.

New Info about Zombicide: Black Plague Posted

Guillotine Games is taking Zombicide into the Middle Ages with their upcoming Zombicide: Black Plague game. We’ve seen a bit of information about what to expect, what with the swords and arrows and necromancers and such (though it’s much more than just a change in venue and weapon load-outs), but a bunch more has been posted, along with looks at some of the new minis coming with the set, both heroes and zombies.

Guillotine Games Announces Zombicide: Black Plague

Guillotine Games has announced Zombicide: Black Plague. This new stand-alone Zombicide game brings the zombie-killing to a new, fantastic world. Gone are the malls, hospitals, and prisons. Gone are the molotov cocktails, machine guns, and chainsaws. Gone are the riot shields and tactical vests. Instead, players will use short swords, chainmail, and powerful spells in order to stem the growing tide of the zombie apocalypse as they invade a fantasy world.

The game uses the same mechanics as previous Zombicide sets, but reworked to fit the new setting. With new scenarios, equipment (including powerful artifacts), characters (such as righteous paladins, stalwart dwarves, and powerful magicians), and location tiles (from mysterious vaults to village streets and everything in-between), it’s a whole new take on the original. There’s also new foes to vanquish! This time, there’s powerful Necromancers roaming the board who can add to the hordes ravaging the land. They’re sneaky, though, and it will take all of your cunning to hunt them down.

The game is set to hit Kickstarter around the end of May. Be sure to stay tuned here for updates, and check after the break for an early look at the box, cards, characters, and zombies!
