CMON Previews Um’Rak For HATE

Well, the world’s come to an end. Damnit, Todd! How you managed to turn a taxi service into a catalyst for Armageddon I’ll never now, but here we are. We’ve gotta keep our tribe safe and secure from others, even as we head into the wastes to do battle. By the way, is that leg of that enemy tribesman done roasting yet? I’m getting a might peckish.
That’s what you’ll be saying when you play HATE, a new game coming from CMON next year. In this preview, we get a look at the Um’Rak tribe, getting an idea of how they work, plus checking out the various figures.

CMON To Publish Victorian Masterminds

CMON has announced a new game that they will be releasing next year. Originally announced by Space Cowboy, CMON has entered into an agreement to make Victorian Masterminds. In it, players will be some of history’s most evil masterminds, who are seizing on the opportunity created by Sherlock Holmes’ disappearance. But there’s still the Secret Service to contend with. Will one of the masterminds take over the world? Will the Secret Service be able to stop them? That’s up to you to decide.

CMON Partners with Steve Jackson Games to Make Munchkin Board Games

Just about all of us have played some version of Munchkin in our time as gamers. It’s a fun, little card game from Steve Jackson that takes the usual tropes of dungeon delving (or going into space, or pirates, or faeries, or a hundred other things it’s spun off into) and turns them on their ear, many sets lovingly drawn by famed artist John Kovalic. Well, soon, that fun, little card game is going to be a board game series from CMON. Steve Jackson and CMON are partnering up to create a new line of games based on the beloved card game.

It’s just about Halloween, so it’s all about scary dreams and darkness. That’s what we’re getting from CMON this month, anyway. Ok, so Dream On doesn’t have to be about scary dreams, but we’ve all had dreams that seem just fine one minute and then go off the rails the next. The other releases are for Massive Darkness. And we all know how scary the dark can be.

Let’s see if the system decides to eat this one or not. Anyway, it’s Saturday, and that means I’m happy. Photos from Day 4 of Gen Con

Well, Gen Con wrapped up yesterday. Today’s a travel day for me. Then we’ll get you back to a closer-to-regular posting schedule tomorrow and going into the rest of the week. It’s impossible to thank all the people who made this show so awesome. There’s just too many to list (and my brain is still far, far too tired, even after some sleep). But it was an amazing show. Every year, I wonder if “The Greatest 4 Days in Gaming” is going to be false advertising or not, and every year, it proves itself correct. The show does, truly, deserve that title. Anyway, here’s the last galleries from the show. I hope you like ’em.

Photos From Gen Con Day 3

Gen Con this year has been everything I was expecting it to be. Mostly: filled with awesome stuff to see and filled with lots of people! Saturday has always been the busiest day, and yesterday was no exception. And while there was a mildly-noticeable larger crowd, we weren’t all packed in like sardines, for the most part. You could still get around to see all the great booths here at the show. Though taking pictures was sometimes difficult. But take them I did. And here they are for you to see.

Green Horde Preview From Media Event

At the CMON Media Event, we were able to get a look at various games that they have coming down the pipeline. One has a bit of extra pull for me, since I’m an old greenskin. Green Horde is the newest set for Zombicide: Black Plague. The horrible zombie menace hasn’t just been contained to humans and some animals. The Orcs have also fallen victim to it. The implications for that are pretty gruesome for the few remaining survivors.

Rising Sun Preview

Eric Lang is known for his “dudes on a map” type of games. One of those that people are really excited to get is Rising Sun. There, players are in charge of their own clan in a fantasy version of Medieval Japan. Will your clan use honor and diplomacy to attain power? Or will it backstab anyone it can in search of their ultimate goal? You decide.

The Media Event that CMON held here at Gen Con gave us a chance to check out what they have coming down the pipeline in terms of new releases. Galleries From Day 1 At Gen Con 2017

It’s early dawn here at Gen Con Day 2. I… wish I could tell you what happened to Day 1. I swear it was just here a minute ago. At least, that’s how it feels. I can tell you that the hall is busy. But what would you expect from a show that’s sold out? Thursday already felt like a Saturday. So it’s anyone’s guess as to what the rest of the show will be like.

Anyway, over on the TGN Facebook page, I’ve been regularly updating with galleries from the show. Here’s what we had yesterday.

CMON Previews Arcadia Quest: Riders

At a media event held by CMON, they previewed numerous upcoming games that they have been working on. The first that I’d like to talk about is Arcadia Quest: Riders. Sure, the Guilds have had animal companions with their cute, little pets. But now, they’ll be able to actually take to battle riding impressive steeds!

CMON Limited Hosts Gen Con 50 Event to Support Indianapolis’ Child Advocates

Gaming is cool. Gaming for a cause is even better. Gen Con has a yearly charity that they give to, and this year is no different. Child Advocates helps children in need through ensuring care and court help. During Gen Con, CMON will be helping Child Advocates by running special demo events for Rising Sun. Players will be able to possibly even win a copy of the game before it goes on sale. Then, on Sunday, a check will be given to the charity by CMON’s CEO, Chern Ann Ng.

Review Roundup

Usually, I’m all like, “hey! It’s Saturday! Go get your gaming on!” and, in a way, I’m still that. But I’m also, “It’s the Saturday before Gen Con… … … I Have So Many Things I Still Need To Do!!!” A couple people have asked me, “are you ready for the show?” My answer is, “you’re never ‘ready’ for Gen Con. You’re where you are in your attempt to be ready, and then the show starts happening, whether you got all you needed done or not.” But I am doing my best to have as much done as possible. That includes getting you your reviews I know you all so desperately desire.

This week we have: Nerdy Inventions, Incantris, Anachrony, Lucky Dogs, Wordsy, Deckscape: Test Time, A Dog’s Life, Titan Tactics, Frantic, Have at Thee, Upon a Fable, Sopio, Betrayal at House on the Hill, Shadow War: Armageddon, Massive Darkness, Oh My Goods, Nimbee, Pandemic Legacy Season 1, and The Lost Expedition.

CMON Limited Announces Exclusive Deal with Universal Distribution in Canada

You gotta know where you can get your games if you want to be able to actually play them. And if you’re in Canada and if you want games from CMON, you’re going to have to talk with Universal Distribution (doesn’t the fact that it’s Universal make it international? – Mike Nelson). CMON and Universal have struck up a deal where Universal will be the exclusive distributor for CMON products in Canada.

Thursday Terrain Corner

This week, to me, is just rocketing by. Though I’m in my Thursday shirt, it certainly feels like it should only be, like Tuesday or something. But no, it’s Thursday. Which, of course, means that, a week from this posting, many of us will be in downtown Indy, chest-deep into Gen Con’s first day.
… I have so much stuff still to do…
*stares wide-eyed at nothing in-particular*
… Ok, but before then, we need to make your gaming tables look good.

Today in the Terrain Corner we have: War Sands: Fantasy Gaming Mat Available From Pwork Wargames, Battle at the Mummer’s Ford Added to A Song of Ice and Fire Kickstarter, Promethium Rig Added To Tubular Buildings Kickstarter, and Acheson Creations Releases next six products from Dungeon Worlds 3 Kickstarter.
