Battle for the Shrine event details
The Battle for the Shrine is coming to Westfield, MA USA on Sunday June 12, 2011.
From their announcement:
It doesn’t take an expert to tell you that freeing your inner child can be fun and even healthy. What you may not know is that doing so could not only be beneficial for you, but to the lives of some very deserving actual children in need of critical medical attention. That’s right. For one day each year, right here in western Massachusetts, tabletop miniature gamers come together to play games, let loose, and generally have a good time. But in doing so, they are also helping to benefit the Shriners Hospitals for Children.
A few years ago our local group of like minded game enthusiasts got together. We resolved to do something in order to help the publicly struggling Shriners Hospital in Springfield. Pooling our resources we developed a charity gaming event based on our passion. Thus the “Battle for the Shrine (BftS)” our one day celebration of tabletop miniature gaming, was created.
BftS 2011 is set to take place Sunday June 12, 2011 at the Mount Moriah Lodge, 72 Broad St. Westfield, MA 01086. Doors will be open from 8:00AM-8:00PM. Admission and parking are free. There will be concessions on site. This year we are offering two large scale game events for pre-registration: A Warhammer 40,000 (40K) Apocalypse Megabattle, and a Warmachine/Hordes Modified Steamroller tournament. We will also be holding a youngbloods tournament (ages 10-15yrs. old) and a painting competition around noon. Memorabilia and raffle tickets are available online. The raffle grand is to be a fully painted 1500 point 40K Codex: Grey Knight army, valued at over $800. Visit www.battlefortheshrine.webs.com for more details.
We are hoping to help the Shriners Hospitals for Children even more than ever this year, as we host our third annual Battle for the Shrine. Come out and game, come out and watch, come out and have fun, but most importantly come out and help give some great kids a fighting chance at a great life.
