Archon Studio Running Chronicle X Kickstarter

The aliens are invading!
Earth is being besieged by a fleet of flying saucers, and only the elite soldiers of Chronicle X have the gear, skills, and knowhow to defeat them. It’s not going to be easy, though. The alien Overmind is cunning, and will be looking to stay one step ahead in their plan to add a new planet to their conquests.
That’s the story behind Chronicle X, a new sci-fi board game that’s up on Kickstarter now.

From the campaign:

Chronicle X is a 1-7 player tactical board game, set in a Sci-Fi Retro 1980s, tasking players to either control the daring men and women that make up the military organization, Chronicle X, or the Overmind, a ruthless and cunning alien overseeing the invasion of Earth and the end of all human resistance. The Chronicle X player(s) have a diverse group of heroes to choose from to form their squad, but must also manage the expansion of their base of operations, using what scraps and materials they can to secure a foothold on the planet. The Overmind player has a cadre of alien troops to choose from to overwhelm the Chronicle X players, ensuring they will never save Earth.

The campaign’s closing in on being 5x funded with still 18 days left to go.

Oh, great, the same Archon/Prodos dudes behind LOAD are back. Good to know I can immediately cross this one off of my list.

I’ve seen that they’re fulfillment is rather poor. Is that the only reason you crossed them off the list?

These are the same dudes that hid their identity when they ran the LOAD KS until people found out that LOAD/Archon/Prodos were the same entity. This was after people pointed out at the outset of the LOAD KS that they basically plagiarized (sometimes word for word) the rulebook for CMON’s Rum & Bones. And all of that is without mentioning fulfillment, customer service, or anything related to how poorly their games are received once they are released.

It’s basically an entire farm of red flags.

Thank you. Going to do some reading on these things!

To be fair- they delivered LOAD. And from everything I’ve read and heard, the finished rules were not stolen from R&B, and were good. I have seen the minis in person, and they are excellent.

They’re currently delivering another KS- I haven’t seen any reviews for that just yet.

You might also want to check on the reason why people hate Prodos (who, as I understand it, are under Archon). Try to get both sides- the stories conflict.

The Prodos forums might be a good place to get the other side of the story. I haven’t found any place where the people who approve of AVP talk to the people who disapprove.

I’m not saying you should definitely back this, but do your research and be aware that the loud voice of the internet doesn’t often speak the whole truth.

There are recent comments on the LOAD Kickstarter from people who haven’t their painted items, and how they’re unable to get a response from the studio.
