Nothing brings out the grammar policeman in me faster than the misuse of “myself.”
    If I may suggest:

I do not approve of how you have presented yourself in your message.

Congratulations AB Casting, this sounds like an excellent service.

I disagree. It’s about presenting your new venture in a serious and professional manner that will instill confidence in future customers. Plus, he did provide a free edit of the copy. That’s really quite generous.

Presenting a business professionally is definitely worth while. You make a good point. Granted he offered an amended version, but I disagree with the original intent of the comment.

          • Soulfinger

            What was the original intent?

          • He didn’t like your original tone.

And we’ll leave it at agreeing to disagree on the subject.

          • Soulfinger

Ah, more like “but you didn’t have to be a $*@% about it” then. My tone is consistently bastard+3, but my intent is that I would prefer that their venture succeed and they recoup what I’d estimate as a $40k investment on those two casting machines.

And poor Heidi Stevens was edited out of my post. What did the Chicago Tribune ever do to you? 🙂

I find Soulfingers commentary to be an invaluable service to the community.

  • As do I. His original, full post was excellent and I agreed with it 100%. It was completely relevant – if any company can’t be bothered to properly edit a major press release, it shows a lack of attention to detail that I, personally, would immediately infer as also applying to their other activities. What’s more, instead of simply criticising, he politely offered a well-written alternative for free.

Go Soulfinger. You also write the most entertaining comments on this site!

Mind, we are being a bit ‘grammer Nazi’ about it. He followed usage rules ok
(and since we’re writing in English here, we can either follow usage rules, or we get to use Latin rules).

I, personally, would not take this as an indication of unprofessionalism.

      • Soulfinger

Awww shucks, guys. You are too kind. Honestly, I’m always in Polar Bear’s corner when it comes to moderating. He does a great job of managing the site, and I know that I’m one of the more . . . difficult customers for him — or is this actually him posting under a pseudonym??? (hint: it isn’t . . . or is it?)

        • estrus

          Mind. Blown.

        • odinsgrandson

Way to draw attention away from the conspiracy.

It’s a shame you feel that way.

It is also a shame, since I otherwise rather liked your blog, how-to videos, and reference sheets.

      • Soulfinger

        odinsgrandson has a blog?
