Podcast Radio

We're making our way to the holidays, everyone. I actually have some vacation time coming up. It'll be nice to kick back and relax some. This is the slow time of year for news anyway, as I'm sure you've noticed. But I'll still be coming in to give you updates as time goes on. But before I can grab some gingerbread cookies and egg nog, I need to get through the week, as do the rest of us. That's where some gaming podcasts can help.

This week we have: Morrus' Unofficial Tabletop RPG Talk Episode 78: Alien RPG; Tabletop Talk Episode 52: Malifaux Expert Round Table II with Roman, Cody and Robert; Lords of the Dungeon 34: Atlas, Using Board Game Minis for RPGs and One-Shot RPGs; Meeples & Miniatures Episode 282: Working in the hobby vs Playing in the hobby; and Rolling Dice & Taking Names Episode 188: Cities Skylines, The City, Fire!, Flying Squirrels.

Morrus' Unofficial Tabletop RPG Talk Episode 78: Alien RPG

This week, Morrus and Peter take a look at the Alien RPG. In the news, Werewolf: The Apocalypse 5th Edition has a new home, another D&D video game announced, Starfinder coming soon to your Amazon-voice-assistant-who-will-not-be-named devices, and more! Plus a brand new sketch about the shocking revelation that D&D is popular again!

Tabletop Talk Episode 52: Malifaux Expert Round Table II with Roman, Cody and Robert

Join Craig as his guests, Cody Hiatt, Roman Hechenberger and Robert Singer discuss several hot topics in the Malifaux community along with several segments devoted to making you a better Malifaux player. It is a meaty episode with a ton of great advice and discussions.

Lords of the Dungeon 34: Atlas, Using Board Game Minis for RPGs and One-Shot RPGs

In episode 34, Jess and Bender start us out by talking about their experience playing the massively multiplayer online roleplaying game, Atlas on an RP server with a social contact. Then we take a question from a lister regarding using board game miniatures in our roleplaying games. Then we finish off the show by talking about our recent experiences with playing one-shots.

Meeples & Miniatures Episode 282: Working in the hobby vs Playing in the hobby

In this show hosts Neil Shuck & Mike Hobbs are joined by professional sculptor Tom Mason to discuss the struggle often experienced by those who work in the hobby.

  • 00:00 – Introduction -We find out Tom’s gaming and sculpting background
  • 16:34 – Confessional – Time to own up to all those hobby purchases we have made recently, and to gaze longingly at other shiny toys
  • 46:25 – Our Hobby – We talk about our recent gaming and painting
  • 1:10:29- Work vs Play – Tom, Neil & Mike discuss the pressures created by working in a hobby whilst still wanting to enjoy playing in it.
  • 1:52:02 – Outtro – Closing thoughts.

We hope you enjoy the show.

Rolling Dice & Taking Names Episode 188: Cities Skylines, The City, Fire!, Flying Squirrels

We got a fairly light show this time. Between broken fingers, house repairs, holidays, we haven’t had the time to sit down and get in some heavy gaming. But never fear, the banter is always here. Thanks to everyone who answered the survey and if you were lucky enough to win something, we will be contacting you in the coming weeks.

We did get to play The City from Tom Lehman and enjoyed the simplicity of the game. Sometimes you just need something that takes less than 30 minutes to play and this game does it.

Adam comes back on the show and helps Marty talk about Cities: Skylines and how it compares to the video game. So if you play the video game, maybe Adam can convince you you need the board game as well.

Finally, Marty goes solo and discusses a Stronghold game called Fire! This game is another quick to play and might be a time killer you need while waiting on a friend to show up and get your game night started.

Thanks for listening and please be sure and consider supporting BGG.
