The Leviathan set contains two armies – 25 Space Marines and 47 Tyranids – along with a massive Leviathan book, the Chapter Approved Leviathan Mission Deck, and a construction booklet. The Space Marines are the ultimate defenders of the Imperium, while the Tyranids are an alien swarm that seeks to consume all the biomass in the galaxy.
The miniatures are beautifully designed and detailed, with each army featuring a range of units. For example, the Space Marines include a Captain in Terminator Armour, a Librarian in Terminator Armour, an Apothecary Biologis, a Lieutenant in Phobos Armour, a Sternguard Veteran Squad, a Terminator Squad, an Infernus Squad, and a Ballistus Dreadnought. The Tyranids, meanwhile, include a Winged Tyranid Prime, a Neurotyrant, a Screamer-Killer, Von Ryan’s Leapers, Termagants, Neurogaunts, Barbgaunts, and a Psychophage.
The box also includes the core rules for Warhammer 40,000, rules for the new Combat Patrol game format, Crusade rules, and a Crusade expansion that delves into the story of the Fourth Tyrannic War. The Chapter Approved deck in the box provides a flexible mission experience for players of all levels, while a construction booklet and decal sheet help players build and customize their miniatures.
For fans who want to explore the horrors of the Fourth Tyrannic War, there’s also a Leviathan tie-in novel by Darius Hinks. The set will be available to order in June, and the Leviathan book is exclusive to the box.
Games Workshop has promised a brisk pace of releases following the launch of Leviathan, with every single faction getting a complete set of Index Cards, datacards for each unit, Detachment rules, Stratagems, and Enhancements. These will be available to download online for free from day one.
