The 5th Annual Gaming for a Cure event has announced the results of their fund-raising effort.
From their announcement:
Our 12 hour Gaming for a Cure fundraising event for cancer research was a success.
The event was held on Aug. 14 here in Traverse City Michigan, and was attended by 250 people. Our final tally was $2000.00 this year bringing our 5 year total to over $8000.00!
The event is is intended to promote gaming as a family activity as well as raise money for the American Cancer Society for use in cancer research. Almost all of the games played are demo style, in that the people that Volunteer to run them provide everything necessary to play so that anyone can learn to play something new! Experienced players are encouraged to bring their own stuff to play the scheduled games or simply use one of the open tables for their own game that they bring. We also encourage the playing of old family standbys by supplying a game area full of games ranging from chutes and ladders to apples to apples. This allows us to promote gaming for all age groups and interests.
