Wyrd Monday Preview

With Monday being what it is, usually people aren’t all that excited that it’s here. We do our best here to make it not be so bad. We’ve got our Terrain Corner. We had a special exclusive Guild Ball preview. Wyrd also does their best in making Monday a bit better with their regular Monday Previews, which is where we find ourselves now.

The Grizzled: At Your Orders Coming Later This Year

Last year CMON Inc. brought us the English version of The Grizzled, a WWI-themed card game of squad survival. It’s right in my wheelhouse for favorite types of games, as it’s quick to set up and play, has some cool artwork, and the theme being WWI I really like. Well, now I’m going to be able to get even more, as CMON Inc will be publishing the expansion, At Your Orders, for US audiences.

Monday Terrain Corner

I hope everyone’s Monday is going well and nobody has “a case of the Mondays.” One way to beat the Monday Blues is to talk about gaming (or so I’ve found, anyway). All the stories of what happened over the weekend, recounting epic adventures, or fantasy sports matches, or wizard battles can help keep those blues at bay. (Lost my game of Warmachine, won a game of Ascension, and was ahead when time was called in Guild Ball) And where there’s gaming, there’s usually terrain. Let’s get into it with our Terrain Corner spot.

Today we have: New Dwarven Forge Kickstarter Coming March 6th, Sea of Flames Added to Dungeon Worlds Kickstarter, Manorhouse Workshop Update #14 – The Abbey of the Living Dead, and Dark Swamp: Pwork Wargames fantasy gaming mat Now Available.

TGN Exclusive: First Look at Hunter’s Guild Hearne for Guild Ball

For those that have been watching, I’ve been talking a lot about Guild Ball lately. It’s a game I’ve been keeping track of since I first started seeing artwork coming out for it. But now I’ve finally gotten the chance to really check it out. It’s been a game that’s been blowing up my Facebook friend’s feed and I had a chance to play my first match yesterday. Well, the kind fellows over at Steamforged are coming out with a new Guild for the game and have given me a bit of artwork they’d like me to show you.

New Add-Ons For Masmorra: Dungeons of Arcadia on Kickstarter

Watch It Played, for those that don’t know, is a YouTube channel that, well… it’s sort of right there in the name, but it’s a channel devoted to showing gamers how to play many of the great games that exist in our hobby. Rodney Smith has been running the channel for several years and many of his videos feature his son, Luke (who is known to just have “the touch” when it comes to getting dice to work in his favor). Well, Luke’s now getting his own figure for Masmorra: Dungeons of Arcadia.

Darklight: Memento Mori Board Game Up On Kickstarter

When you want to play some role-playing games, sometimes you can’t find someone to be the DM/GM. That can be a real pain. Thankfully, there are dungeon-crawl board games that are there to step in and pick up the slack, letting you get some good monster-slashing action without the need of someone to specifically be in charge of them all. Well, Darklight: Memento Mori is just such a dungeon crawl board game and it’s up on Kickstarter now looking for funding love.

Donald Trumps Card Game on Kickstarter

We try and keep things a-political here on TGN. You can be a member of the Whig Party or the Know-nothing Party and still be able to sit down and game together. (Personally, my vote is for Pat Paulsen) But in this election year here in the US, there’s been several card games that have poked fun at our political process as well as the candidates. Well, this time around one candidate gets his own game. Donald Trumps the card game is up on Kickstarter now.

Winter Sale Happening At Raging Heroes

Well, winter is almost technically over. Just a couple weeks left. Here in Atlanta it’s already started to get rather nice outside. But that doesn’t mean we can’t focus on gaming. Raging Heroes is here to help with that with a sale going on right now in their webshop.

TGN Sunday Snippets

The hectic bustle of Saturday has given way to the smooth calm of Sunday (at least for me). Yesterday I got in some Guild Ball, some Warmachine, and some Ascension. How about you folks?

I think all of us could stand for some bite-sized gaming stories just about now. So let’s get to it.

Today we have: Red Box Games Launch Warbands of the Cold North Kickstarter, Kings of War unofficial historical supplements updated for Kings of War 2nd edition, and New White Wolf Interview.

New Dark Age Releases Available From CoolMiniOrNot

The world of Samaria is full of interesting inhabitants. There’s the general populace who are working as hard as they can to get by with whatever meager scraps they can get a hand on. Then there’s the really powerful personalities. Strong leaders who are looking to make the best of the situation. We’ve got a couple of those in this release for Dark Age from CoolMiniOrNot.

When “Kill” Isn’t Good Enough: An Unboxing of Deathwatch: Overkill

Games Workshop has been working on expanding their projects besides just 40k and Age of Sigmar. It was announced that they were going to be recreating their Specialist Games Lines and coming out with side products to expand the offerings to us, the gamers. We’ve seen several new releases already, the newest one being just announced. It’s Deathwatch: Overkill, a new stand-alone board game.

The kind folks over at Games Workshop were nice enough to send me a copy to look over and let you know about.

tgn-feature_360

So grab your bolter and make sure your genes are secured, it’s time for another TGN Unboxing. This time it’s Deathwatch: Overkill from Games Workshop.

CMON Expo Update

As we’ve seen, conventions are starting to come up quickly. Can you believe we’re already at the end of February? 1/6 of the year is almost gone. Well, one show I’m really looking forward to is the CMON Expo (ok, I might be a little biased, but that is my honest opinion). Well, I’ve made another update about some new stuff they’re going to have at the show that you should check out.

Updated Beyond the Gates of Antares Rulebook Available As PDF

Games, particularly new ones, can often have rules fixes that are quickly found as the relatively small amount of players that’d tried it originally grows to several thousand with the game’s release. Well, Beyond the Gates of Antares hasn’t been around for too long yet, but there’s been some things that’ve been updated. Well, that new version is available as a .pdf from the Warlord Games webshop.

Ironwatch Games Releases The Star-Struck City

Ironwatch is branching out from their fan magazine base and has released their first game. It’s called Star-Struck City. And by “Star-Struck” it’s really more “meteor-struck” but since those are often called “shooting stars” it still does kinda fit but… you know, I’ll stop being so pedantic and just get on with telling you about the game.

Wastelanders: 2048 Card Game Relaunch on Kickstarter

You gotta eat.
That’s just the simple matter of it. I mean, I guess there’s those “liquid only” diets and such, but they’re not really a long-term solution, especially in a post-apocalyptic situation. I doubt those shakes are going to be in high supply. You’re gonna have to go out there and find food. That’s the struggle before you in Wastelanders: 2048, which as relaunched on Kickstarter.

Friday Snippets

Hold tight, people. We’re almost there. We’ve come too far to give up now… Though I’m not sure how you could give up on “time moving forward” and just decide to quit it (without talking about time dilation or other, less-than-savory topics. O,o). Anyway, it’s Friday and that means we’re at the gateway to the weekend. Best to gather supplies in the form of some bite-sized stories.

Today’s snippets includes: Symbaroum Being Translated Into French, DGS Games Previews Sunbringer for Traazorites on Kickstarter, Siren Miniatures Troublemaker Bundle Available Now, Hitechminiatures new releases, Khurasan releases 15mm Afghan Mujahideen/Taliban, and New Panzerschreck team.

New Releases Available For Guild Ball

I’m hoping to get my first full Guild Ball games in tomorrow. It’ll be “Battle of the Proteins” since I’ve got the Butcher’s Guild and the Fisherman’s Guild. Heh, whomever wins should decide what I have for dinner. “Well, Fishermen won 12-8, so it’s the broiled salmon.” Well, the two new releases don’t work for those two guilds, but that doesn’t mean we can’t be excited about them.

New Napoleonic French Lancers Available From Warlord Games

Get on your bikes and ride!
Err… get on your horses and ride!
In their day, cavalrymen armed with lances were some of the most formidable soldiers out on the battlefield. They were fast, deadly, and could turn the tide of an entire battle with one of their charges. And now you can add some to your Black Powder French forces.

Epic Legacy 5th Edition Supplement Up On Kickstarter

So your characters have reached level 20. They’ve gone and fought just about all they can fight. They’ve saved the world probably a couple times over. It’s time to hang up the sword and lute and retire, right? Not so fast, adventurer! Your story doesn’t have to end at level 20. 2CGaming is running a Kickstarter campaign for an Epic Legacy supplement book to 5th Edition that lets you take your characters on up to level 30.

Griffon Publishing Studio Releases Panzer Kids Basic

Tanks!
“You’re welcome!”
Ok, so I’ve used that joke before, but it’s one of my favorites, so deal with it. Besides, it’s 100% pertinent to this story, since Griffon Publishing Studio has released Panzer Kids Basic as a pay-what-you-want set of rules on their Wargame Vault page.

New Terminator Genisys Releases From Warlord Games

Come with me if you want to get some new miniatures for your Terminator: Genisys armies. And really, you don’t even have to come with me. You can sit right there. You just have to read on. It’s actually quite simple. A lot simpler than time-travel, anyway. But I’m getting off-track. There’s some new figures available for Terminator: Genisys, as well as Warlord Games posting the rules and FAQ online.

Corvus Belli Posts Up New Infinity Releases

In today’s Terrain Corner we got a look at some new terrain pieces specifically designed for Infinity. Well, if you’ve got terrain for Infinity, you might as well have some miniatures for Infinity. You might already have all of the current Infinity models, though (or at least, all of the ones you currently want to have). Well, it’s a good thing that Corvus Belli is coming out with some new Infinity models, then, isn’t it?

Kult: Divinity Lost Horror RPG Up On Kickstarter

You want to know what can make you feel old? When you see things written out as “Kult came out over a quarter century ago, in 1991.” Well… gee… I guess when you put it that way, it was a while ago. Well, if you didn’t have the game back then, or if you’ve lost your books since then, the game’s up on Kickstarter now, looking to get a new edition made.

Space Pioneers Card Game Up On Kickstarter

Just about every day we hear about a new Exoplanet that’s been found out there in the galaxy. Occasionally we’ll hear about new propulsion systems that are being worked on in order to get us out there. Sure, we’ve not yet made it to Mars with a manned mission, but that time will come. Then it’ll be further out into the solar system, then out into the galaxy. Well, Space Pioneers, a new card game up on Kickstarter, lets you play out the future where humanity is creating supply lines between these far-flung planets.

ArcWorlde: Battle for Troll Bridge: Boxed Starter Set Up On Kickstarter

So, you have no doubt seen my praise for 2-player starter sets for miniatures games. I got into minis games with a 2-player starter set, splitting it with my friend. But what if you’ve got more people wanting to get into a game? Sure, if there’s 4 of you, you could just get two starter sets. But Warploque Miniatures thinks that’s kinda lame. As such, they’ve got a 4-player starter set in the works for ArcWorlde. It’s the Battle For Troll Bridge set and it’s up on Kickstarter now.

Thursday Terrain Corner

We’re working our way there, everyone. We’ve made it to Thursday. Just the rest of today and then Friday and we’ll be set for the weekend. Mine’s looking like it’ll be full of teaching someone Warmachine and then actually getting Guild Ball out on the table and playing. Both of those games need some terrain to really mix things up. I mean, sure, you could play them on flat, open boards, but where’s the fun in that? Thankfully, there’s terrain options. And we’ve got some more options available with this Terrain Corner.

Today’s articles include: Battlemap Layers Up On Kickstarter, Victorian Steampunk Modular Tabletop Terrain On Kickstarter, Warsenal releases Cosmica Wave Two for Infinity, Pwork Releases Darkburg Fantasy Gaming Mat, Manorhouse Workshop Update #13 – Inside the ruins, and Acheson’s Dungeon Worlds KickStarter Releases New Products.

Playmore Games Receives 250,000 Euro Investment

I honestly think that just about every gamer out there has created their own game in their mind. At some point, just about all of us have sat down, looking at the various games we play, and think, “I could do better.” Even when playing our favorite games there might be things we think could have been done better. So why aren’t there millions and millions more games out there? Opportunity can money, I’d say. Well, the folks over at Playmore Games have the opportunity and now they’ve got some extra cash on hand to make games, too.

Ultra Coins Game Up On Kickstarter

Many of us have a couple coins in our pockets right now. Maybe it’s some change leftover from lunch, or some quarters for doing our laundry later, or whatever reason you might have. Well, what if you had some coins in your pocket just ready for some gaming at a moment’s notice? And I don’t mean putting some quarters into an arcade machine. Ultra Coins is a new game up on Kickstarter where the coins are your army and you can play just about anywhere.

Deadpool Stat Card Previewed For Marvel Universe Miniatures Game

Don’t let it be said that the fellows over at Knight Models don’t listen to you, the gamers. They’d showed off a stat card for models in the Marvel Universe Miniatures Game previously, but you guys sent back some feedback. Well, they thought your feedback was pretty good, so they have updated the look of the cards and are showing off the new design. Along with that, they’re giving people a look at the stats for Deadpool.

Asmodee Previews A Prophecy of Dragons Expansion for T.I.M.E. Stories

Who here remembers the series Quantum Leap? In the show, the main character would jump through time, inhabiting the body of someone in history and have to make sure they didn’t mess up the timeline at all. When I think of T.I.M.E. Stories by Asmodee, I get a similar sense. Granted, you’re trying to go fix the timeline, but it’s still the first thing that comes to mind. Anyway, Asmodee is showing off a preview of their upcoming expansion for the game, called A Prophecy of Dragons.

Ulfsark Games Moving Sale

Moving locations can be exciting. There’s a new place with new opportunities, new neighbors, new local restaurants, a new shops. However… you’ve gotta pack up all your stuff into boxes and carry it over there. That’s… not so much fun. That’s why a lot of people will try and sell off a bunch of their stuff, first. Well, Ulfsark Games are moving. So they’re having themselves a sale.

Asmodee Previews Doctor Panic Board Game

One of the jobs I had before working here on TGN was I was a supervisor for housekeeping at a large hospital here in Atlanta. I saw a lot of things that most people don’t ever want to see… and then I had to clean up after that. I’ve certainly seen doctors in a panic before. Thankfully, Doctor Panic isn’t so… gruesome. Asmodee is showing off a preview of this upcoming family-friendly game.
