Cryptozoic has released the 3rd Crossover Pack for the DC Comics Deck-Building Game. Expand your plethora of cards with the Legion of Super-Heroes pack. The 7th Continent Board Game Up On Kickstarter

Serious Poulp has launched their Kickstarter campaign for their new adventure survival board game, The 7th Continent. The game is sort of a board game version of “choose your own adventure” books, where you and your other players work cooperatively in order to lift horrible curses that were placed upon you when you first visited this new land (I doubt the travel agent mentioned that when booking the original trip).

Midweek Snippets

I hope you’re making it through the week just fine.
Mine’s hit a bit of a bumpy road, as I’m typing this from the mechanic’s. Thankfully, they have free wifi. Seems Bitey, my car, isn’t feeling so good and so he’s getting a checkup.
So yeah, hopefully your week is going better than mine. But what’s keeping me going is some gaming news, such as the bite-sized stories we’ve got for you now.

Wyrd Games Posts October Releases for Malifaux

October seems to be made for Wyrd. Or perhaps it’s vice-versa. Either way, it seems the two were made for each-other. As such, you can expect a lot of new minis for Malifaux, and that is certainly the case. The new sets include their first Story Encounter & Adventure Box, which has Malifaux models, but also a Through the Breach adventure.
Oh, there’s also The Darkness Comes Rattling. I guess that’s pretty important. 😉

Ares Games to release Odyssey: Wrath of Poseidon, Jolly Roger, Quickpick, and more at Essen

Essen is a great chance for companies to release new games to quite a large audience all at once (just like other big conventions like Salute and Gen Con). Ares Games is certainly taking that opportunity and running with it. They have quite a lot of games that they’ll be offering for the first time at the show. You’ll definitely want to stop by Hall 3-E100.

Steamcraft Steampunk Deck-Building Game Up On Kickstarter

Steam. It is arguably the most-important product in the industrialized world. Sure, we don’t use it as much as we used to, but still, anything that runs via nuclear power technically runs on steam. Being so important, it’s no wonder that it has its own fan group: Steampunk. Stone Manor Games has made a deckbuilding steampunk game, called Steamcraft, and has put it up on Kickstarter.

Walls, the Changing Maze Board Game On Kickstarter

When I was growing up, my sister was in Girl Scouts and my mom was a den mother. So I got brought along to a lot of those functions. I never did get into Boy Scouts, though. However, I don’t know if they had a “Game Design Badge” like they apparently have now. Well, one troop’s project is now on Kickstarter as Walls, a new board game.

Harebrained Schemes Launches Battletech Turn-Based Video Game Kickstarter

I know. I know. We don’t usually cover video games on TGN. But this is one of those times where we make an exception. Harebrained Schemes has launched their Kickstarter campaign for a new turn-based Battletech video game. What makes this one so special? Well, Jordan Weisman is on board to help out.

Bots Battleground Launches On Kickstarter

Bots Battleground is a new card game that’s up on Kickstarter and looking for some funding love. In the game, you must play your robot cards in order to beat your opponent’s robots. However, each one has special attacks and defenses that are better against some enemies than others. Team-up with other competitors to take down a tough opponent, but remember, there can only be one winner at the end.
There’s also electronic dice that roll themselves. I figure that’s something that should be mentioned.

New Add-Ons And New Faction Coming For Warpath Kickstarter

The Warpath Kickstarter campaign is inching ever closer to 10x funded. That would be a pretty big milestone for the campaign and the game, and not just in terms of having gotten to 10x their funding level. That will unlock the Asterians, a new faction for the game. Yes, they’re rather lithe and their helmets look like they have pointy ears, but don’t call them Elves. To help make it there, Mantic has created a bunch of add-ons that you can use to customize your force just how you want.

New Apocalypse Box Added to The Others Kickstarter

It would seem those token packs were really something people wanted, as The Others Kickstarter really took off a bit yesterday. Or it could be that another new, big expansion box was added as an add-on. Probably that (though the tokens are cool). The Apocalypse is at hand with the new Apocalypse Box.

GCT Studios Posts New Bushido Previews

Man, I really need to do another kung-fu movie marathon sometime soon. Maybe this weekend. The reason I bring this up is because GCT Studios has another look into the next wave of Bushido minis. There’s a trio of minis to show off this time around. Two are for Prefecture, while the other is for Silvermoon… though with the size of him, he almost counts as two models, himself.

Mayfair Games Designer Signings at Essen

I really want to go to Essen some year. I’ve done Gen Con many times now (something like 7-8) and think it’d be cool to go see some of the conventions over in Europe. Salute is one and Essen is the other. This year, Mayfair Games will be present and they’ll have some of their game designers with them. If you’d like to meet them and get an autograph, they’ve posted times for that at the show.

Back in the office and talking to everyone about what they did over the weekend. One did a bit of moving into a new place. Another went to a wrestling event several hours away. Clear for Takeoff has Taken Off on Kickstarter

My dad used to work for the airlines (and my uncle worked for American in the tower… and a cousin was a mechanic for United…). He was a ticket agent for TWA and later, American. So I grew up with flying as just part of something we did. There was a couple times when we flew from St. Louis to Washington, DC just for the day to go see the Smithsonian museums. It was good times. Well, I know he’d certainly be interested in this game. Clear for Takeoff is up now on Kickstarter.

Hence, Nickstarter.

Games Workshop Taking Orders for Skarbrand

So, what sort of monstrosity do you think you would need to have in order to control chaos? Well, for Age of Sigmar, you’d need some sort of hulking brute who would just pick up and throw any dissenters towards the enemy. Perhaps someone with a really huge axe and even a braided beard that you could whip someone with. You might be thinking just a Bloodthirster. But really, you would need Skarbrand.

Wrath of Kings Previews Pelgarth Brutes

The first expansion book for Wrath of Kings is on its way. The five major houses are gearing up for war. New soldiers are hitting the battlefields, ready to defend or conquer, depending on what’s needed at the time. One group that doesn’t seem like the “sit around and wait to defend something” group would be the Pelgarth Brutes, of which we are getting a preview of.

Free Worldwide Shipping From West Wind Productions

Ordering direct from a game company via their online store can be a great way to make sure you get the figures you want and give support to said company. However, sometimes the shipping costs can make it such that any money you might’ve saved ordering direct is more-than wiped out. Well, West Wind Productions is here to help with that if you order from them.

203mm obr 1931 Howitzer released for Flames Of War

The Russian military isn’t necessarily known for subtlety. The phrase “bigger is better” certainly seems to be alive and well in their strategist’s minds. From gargantuan tanks to massive airplanes to huge artillery pieces. Even the equipment used for fighting among the buildings and along the streets of a city are bigger. Such is the case with the 203mm obr 1931 Howitzer, now available for Flames of War.

Wyrd Announces Rotten Harvest Painting Contest

Days are now darker than they are light. The leaves are turning and getting ready to fall from the trees. Temperatures are dropping (it’s only supposed to get to about 67 here in Atlanta, if that tells you anything, which it might not if you don’t know US geography that well). Wyrd Miniatures figures it’s the right time for a painting contest.
