TGN Sunday Edition: Review Roundup

Hey everyone. Welcome to another Sunday Edition here on TGN.
Now, some of you might’ve noticed that we ran Sunday Snippets on Saturday and are doing the Review Roundup here on Sunday.
I’m… not entirely sure how that happened actually. I think all the necromantic energy from the Zombicide previews got to me and confused up my brain! All day yesterday felt like Sunday. It wasn’t until like 4-5pm that I was like, “Wait… it’s Saturday!” Anyway, we’ve got your reviews for you today.

This week we’ve got reviews/previews of: Pathfinder Battles: The Lost Coast Booster, Kromlech Orc Character Set, 12 Realms: Ancestors Legacy, K2, XenoShyft, Fief France 1429, Samurai Spirit, Deus, and Galactic Strike Force.

TGN Exclusive: The Survivors of Zombicide: Black Plague, Part 6

The final reveal is here for Guillotine Games’ Zombicide: Black Plague core Survivors. If you haven’t had a chance to check them all out, you can find links to each Survivor at the end of this post. Not a bad way to spend a Saturday if I say so myself. Today’s hero is the elven archer, Silas. Samson couldn’t be the only non-human! So let’s take a look.

Saturday Snippets

Hey there, everyone. I hope your Saturday is going by nicely. Mine’s doing just fine. I’ve got some Joy Division playing (They keep calling me!!) and after I finish typing this up, I’m going to play a couple games so I can write some review articles for the site in the next couple weeks. Should be a good time.

Anyway, the reason we’re here is, of course, because we’ve collected some bite-sized stories for you and present them to you now.

In this batch we’ve got: The Fiver with Ben Pierro on Designing Foodtown Throwdown, Brigade Models Release Soviet Spaceships, Manorhouse Workshop Update #28 – Modular Underground Project – The Box, and Secrets of the Third Reich Second Edition coming to Kickstarter,

WizKids previews Hercules For Age of Ultron HeroClix

WizKids brings us a preview that’s not a version of Hank Pym this time around. This hero doesn’t need science in order to be one of Earth’s mightiest heroes. He just uses his two fists and his joy of conflict to carry him through… and his lineage as the son of Zeus. This character comes with a gift… a gift of battle! This preview takes a look at Hercules for the Storyline Organized Play for HeroClix.

Heroic Havoc #1: Instant Circus RPG Module on Kickstarter

One of my earliest memories is going to the circus. It was when I lived in Chicago. I don’t remember much about it, except that it was really loud. I also don’t remember any super villains being involved. But that could just be my youth. I do remember my denim jacket, though. But that’s beside the point. Wyrmkeep Entertainment is now bringing all that excitement that I don’t really remember to your tabletop with their Heroic Havoc #1 super heroes gaming module.

New French Old Guard Grenadiers for Black Powder from Warlord Games

While, thanks to The Simpsons, the current joke is that the French are a bunch of “cheese-eating surrender monkeys,” the truth is that for much of their history, the French army was one of the most-feared fighting forces in Europe. And some of the most-feared were the Grenadiers of the Old Guard. Warlord Games brings these soldiers back to the battlefield with the release of their new Grenadiers of the Old Guard box set for Black Powder.

TGN Exclusive: The Survivors of Zombicide: Black Plague, Part 5

A quick note to our readers, if you’ve been keeping up with the reveals everyday, you might have notice Samson’s Skills seem shockingly similar to Nelly’s from Thursday. That’s because they are! Or well, were. The designers at Guillotine Games caught the issue yesterday, and TGN has already posted an updated Nelly reveal with the appropriate ID card and commentary. However, if you’re just coming to these articles, everything is as it should be. Nothing to see here. Move along.

Over the past several days with the Survivors from Guillotine Games’ upcoming Zombicide: Black Plague, we’ve meet a lot of great human heroes, but any good fantasy setting needs a few fantasy races. Black Plague is no different. That’s why today’s reveal is so much fun. I’m talking about the dwarven blacksmith, Samson! If he isn’t swinging a smithy hammer at his anvil, he’s swinging a hammer at a Zombie’s head.

Deal Board Game Now Up On Kickstarter

Deal is a new board game by Borderline for 3-6 players. Each player is in charge of a drug traffic ring and is in competition with one-another to be the… most druggiest (??) one of them all. You do that by gaining respect. This can be done a number of different ways, not all of which are violent (as a trail of bullet-ridden bodies tends to not be something you generally want behind you). There’s bluffing, deal-making, and compromise that you must master in order to rise to the top.

Minis Add-On For The Sixth Gun RPG Previewed

Weird West has been a pretty popular genre, especially lately. With the rise of Blackwater Gulch, Shadows of Brimstone, and Wild West Exodus, among others, more and more gamers are heeding the call of “Go West, young man (and woman).” The Sixth Gun RPG Kickstarter is also going like gangbusters, already more than 5x their original funding goal. To get things going even further, they’ve asked the fellows over at Bronze Age Miniatures to whip up a set of minis to go with the RPG module. You can add these to your pledge if you so choose.

Bane Tabletop Card Game Up on Kickstarter

Vampires, Werewolves, and Super Humans. They just can’t ever seem to get along with one-another. And in a game like Bane, the new card game from Gamesicle that’s up on Kickstarter, it doesn’t look like their overall differences are going to be solved. Instead, the various groups out out hunting one another through the post-apocalyptic streets. A worldwide pandemic has killed off most, but left others showing off ancient genetic code that turned them into one of the three mentioned above. Now, it’s up to you as one of them to make sure that your group is the one that takes over the Earth.

DreadBall from Mantic scratches that itch for a lot of gamers and the 5th season is now available to pre-order from Mantic’s website.

Board to Death Launches Street Kings Kickstarter

Get behind the wheel of your souped-up sportscar and go tearing around the streets in Street Kings, the new board game from Board to Death that’s up on Kickstarter now. But you don’t get the best stuff right away. You’ve gotta win some races, get some cash, and upgrade your car and crew a couple times first. And, of course, those beautiful cars don’t want to just sit in a garage between races. You can also send your car to get drooled over (just hopefully not on the chrome) at the local car shows.

Calliope Games is well-known for their gateway games. They want to get as many people involved in gaming as possible. TGN Exclusive: The Survivors of Zombicide: Black Plague, Part 4

Update: This post has been edited since its initial publication. Guillotine Games discovered the stats for Nelly and Samson had been mixed up in some sort of horrible encounter with a Necromancer’s dark forces. (Imagine a designer’s face turning into something from Munch’s The Scream painting.)  These things happen, especially before a game is published. Below you’ll find the updated Survivor card and article for Nelly.

Over the past couple of days, we’ve met some interesting Survivors – a former paladin, a warrior nun and a wise wizard – from Guillotine Games’ upcoming game, Zombicide: Black Plague. Today, we take a look at a hero from the streets, or the tavern to be more exact. I’m not talking about some stumbling drunk either. I’m talking about the kick butt lady who has to deal with all of those drunks, Nelly!

New Data Trails Sourcebook for ShadowRun Available

Greetings Program! I always did like the idea of going into a computer, into the internet and just flying around inside of it. Movies like Tron and Lawnmower Man (don’t laugh. I liked that movie) and TV shows like Futurama (where they go into the internet) have always been fascinating to me. I’m hoping that we get to that point sometime relatively soon. Well, the latest sourcebook for Shadowrun is right up my alley, since Catalyst Game Labs takes you to the Matrix with their new Data Trails sourcebook.

Collins Epic Wargames has some new releases they’re working on for Spearpoint 1943, their popular WWII card game. The other is a Heavy Weapons expansion, because big guns are fun.

This look at the game will be a bacon of hope to all who read it. *snort*

TGN Exclusive: The Survivors of Zombicide: Black Plague, Part 3

When it comes to fighting the Zombies, Abominations, and Necromancers of Guillotine Games’ upcoming Zombicide: Black Plague, strength of conviction and sharpness of blade are key, as our previous Survivor reveals have shown. But blade and brawn are not the only way the game’s heroes stand against the horrors of their world. Magic is new to the Zombicide franchise, and today’s Survivor, Baldric, knows it well.

Warlord Games Previews First Terminator Genisys Expansion Sets

Warlord Games will be shipping the Terminator Genisys: The War Against The Machines starter sets soon. Warlord’s showing off the first three of those packs. And now you can see them below the cut!
There’s also a new trailer out for the movie that we’ve embedded below, too.
