Spell Stealers (relaunch) up on Kickstarter

Greg Santo Games regrouped, reevaluated, and has relaunched their Kickstarter campaign for Spell Stealers, their new fantasy board game.

Source

From the campaign:

Spell Stealers is a press-your-luck dice game – with stealing. Players assume the role of master thieves, sent by the various kingdoms of the land, in a race to steal a powerful magic spell protected within an enchanted temple.

In order to advance into the temple you need to obtain artifacts, represented by the set of artifact dice. Artifacts award you with points and points allow you to move through the temple. Each of the 3 artifact dice are worth different maximum values and have their own probabilities of success. You must use skill, strategy, and a little bit of luck to obtain as many artifacts as possible. Don’t get too greedy though, because failing to obtain an artifact also means losing any points you have accumulated during your turn – and every chance you take is another opportunity for your opponents to steal the points you have worked so hard to obtain.

The first player to reach the magic spell in the middle of the game board triggers the game’s final round. The player deepest into the temple at the end of that round obtains the spell for their kingdom and wins the game.

Twisted previews M’Dusa WIP

Twisted is showing us now modeling is going for their M’Dusa mini they’re working on.

Source

From the post:

In this next stage of the process, I’ve added the main shapes of the clothing and started on the detail work. I think this stage shows why it is important to start with the correct anatomy as a foundation, especially for a miniature like this one where lots of flesh will be shown. It’s a lot easier to get the anatomy looking right in the first stage, before worrying about adding clothing or detail work over the top. Once you start adding clothing and details, it gets very difficult to go back and correct any of the underlying anatomy!

Talk Wargaming reviews Curious Constructs Artillery Pieces

Talk Wargaming posted a review of some of Curious Constructs’ artillery piece models. Go see what they had to say.

Source

From the post:

Curious Constructs range of Field Artillery includes 4 weapon variants each mounted onto a standard weapon carriage. The carriage consists of 4 resin parts, two wheels, an axle and a blast shield. The style of carriage is very synonymous with those from WW1 with its structure being built from metal rather than wood.
Whilst being very basic in it’s appearance it does feature a small amount of tech in the form of a targeting array and monitor built into the blast shield which lends it a slightly sci-fi appearance. Lets look at some of weapons that can be mounted on to the carriage:

The World of Smog: On Her Majesty’s Service up on Kickstarter

CoolMiniOrNot just launched the Kickstarter campaign for their next board game. This one takes us to a steampunk London with The World of Smog: On Her Majesty’s Service.

Source

From the campaign:

Set in the fantastic steampunk World of Smog created by Panache Animation, On Her Majesty’s Service is a stylish board game for two to four competing players. You’ll need to navigate the rotating tiles that make up the game board, trading Ethers and Artefacts in order to fulfil the quest set by Queen Victoria, all the while dealing with the Agents of the Shadow Master.

Each player controls a different Gentleman, tasked by Queen Victoria to journey into the Shadow Market and bring her four precious Artefacts.

To do so, they’ll need to navigate the underworld of shifting gears that is the Shadow Market, buying and selling the different Ethers in order to have the Coins necessary to acquire all four of the Artefacts. One unique aspect of On Her Majesty’s Service is that each player may only interact with the icons that are facing their edge of the board. Since the tiles that make up the board are frequently rotated by the players’ actions, the landscape of options available to each player is in constant change. Manipulating the board to one’s advantage (and to hinder your opponents) is crucial to victory.

Mantic tease Mini-Kick and more

Mantic lets us know how things have been moving along with a couple of their projects, plus a tease at the next one they’ve got coming up.

Source

From the post:

We are continuing this year and next to keep investing in our two worlds – The Kings of War realm and the Warpath universe. Other licenced properties hopefully will open new doors for the wider range and bring Mantic to more hobbyists – and ultimately that is what I want Mantic to stand for. Fully formed, interesting worlds and universes that can be gamed in.

I want to see a day when every school boy – and girl if they like – has a Mantic Tabletop miniatures game somewhere in their cupboard. It would be fantastic if people think of Mantic as a friendly gaming company that offers great toy soldiers, and fun games at reasonable prices – and as something they would like to spend their free time doing. Obviously the commitment to a skirmish game will be different than for a full mass combat wargame – some fans will be more committed than others. But I hope we can get to a place that anyone who wants to, can access a hobby that whether they enjoy collecting, painting or playing it is open and easy for them to do so.
