  • Pre-painted Adventurers figures coming

Alderac Entertainment Group have announced that they will be selling pre-painted versions of the miniatures in the Adventurers board game.

    From their announcement:

AEG is pleased to announce that pre-painted Adventurers figures are on their way. Releasing later this year along with the board game, the set will feature all of The Adventurers and the various Temple items pre-painted. More info coming soon.

Update: These miniatures will be sold separately and are not included with the board game.

PLEASE NOTE: The news item above is not entirely clear. The pre-painted will be sold separately, NOT in the same box as The Adventurers game.

So will the game come with miniatures?

      Thanks AEG

Will the prepaints be at Gencon?

This is a good option – like what Shadows over Camelot has done.

Now that I read this again you will get the scenery and figures prepainted. They really should just sell 2 versions of the game so I don’t have to buy all that plastic 2x…

I actually like that they’re selling the minis separately. They’ll be good for pulp RPGs and the like.

I think the below is a good defence.. packing in the prepainted instead of the monocolor ones also would made the game more expensive probably.. while the main target of a boardgame is not miniaturegamers (and so no matter how good they look.. the miniatures are just glorified pawns to boardgamers and need no colors.)
but they keep the option open for people who like (pre)painted miniatures to buy the minis seperate if needed (extra market as they now also target those miniature gamers that are not boardgamers nor painters.. another big group ;))

rest assured that if you buy the boardgame, and then buy the prepainted miniatures that you can easily sell off the unpainted miniatures to the third and actually smallest audience.. those that dont do boardgames but do like to paint their tabletopgaming pieces themselves.

its the opposite strategy than tannhauser but I think much more a win-win strategy.
(mind you, while being the target audience of TGN etc. I think the painter+non-boardgame tabletopgamer-hobbyist is the smallest niche in this part of the entertainment industry.)
