Cipher Studios have announced a painting contest for their upcoming Anima Tactics Organization Agents.

    From their announcement:

Cipher Studios and Anima Studio will be releasing an Agent model of each of the different Anima Tactics Organizations. Each Agent will have two different head and weapon options with each body thus giving a possibility of customizing your Organization Agent.

We are holding a 5 part series painting contest for the official Paint Master of each Agent that is released. The winner of each part of this series will receive 100 dollars in credit toward Anima Tactics merchandise as well as a Master cast of the very figure that won him/her the contest. The figure that rises to the top will have a permanent place in the Cipher Studios display with the rest of the professionally painted models. So yes, this does mean that you must send us the winning model to claim your prizes. The winner’s name will appear with the model when put on display at shows, as well as given credit with our other painters when presented in publications by Cipher Studios.

Each Agent has 4 possible combinations to choose from. Only the best painted model will be chosen but participants may submit one of each of the different combinations. This means that a contestant can have a total of 4 separate entries per contest.

The contest series will proceed as follows:

    • 1st – Azure Agent
    • 2nd – Samael Agent
    • 3rd – Wissenschaft Agent
    • 4th – Church Agent
    • 5th – Empire Agent

(Order contest subject to change in case of change in release schedule.)

Azure Agent has already been released so the 1st contest has begun. Photo entries will be accepted no later than August 2nd 2009 and be announced soon after at Cipher-Studios.com. Please send the pictures, front and back of fig, to PaintingContest@Cipher-Studios.com.

Deadlines for subsequent Agents will be announced as released.

This has been a long day but I just can’t find that first mini. That is a very short deadline anyway unless you already have the mini in hand.
Anywho, goodluck with the contest, have lots of great entries!

I hate to say it, but why am I not surprised? From what I’ve heard from people who play the game, it’s a solid system. The minis are pretty nice, even if they’re not really my style. It just seems like Cipher Studios isn’t the greatest at getting the word out to those who aren’t already hardcore fans. It’s a pity.

It is a little late getting here, but all we are really missing out on is part 1 of the series. You are still getting ample time for the 2nd-5th series of contests, as the miniatures are not even out yet for these, and won’t be until the coming months.

The short deadline on the first segment of this is unfortunate but necessary due to the fact that we really want to have the first figure for Gencon.

We are doing everything we can to get the the word on Anima tactics out as far, wide, and fast as is possible. We do have a list of websites and magazines to keep apprised of any developments. If you have any sites that you think we should include that you do not see our news on please mail a note about it to me, Dave@cipher-studios.com and we’ll add the outlet to the list. We are currently spending pretty much all of our run time on getting the Anima Tactics book ready ASAP.

All that being said, it would have been better if we could have got this up here earlier. Sorry about the inconvenience and we will endeavor to be better in the future. Hopefully you will take a look at the later minis in the agents series and maybe participate in this contest on those.

Thanks for the comments and happy 4th of July! (to my fellow Americans)

Well I went to the store on their website and entered Azure Agent in their search bar and got back

There is no product that matches the search criteria.

So Cipher is holding a mini painting contest for a mini that doesn’t exist in their store? Even though they say in the 2 week old announcement that the mini is already out. I’m confused?

I really like the game don’t get me wrong, but how is this supposed to help promote the game on a news website?

The Azure Agent shipped to distributors a while ago and has been available from many fine retailers for a few weeks to my knowledge. You can purchase it from the web at either of these links.

We do not usually put things on our store until we know that it has reached the end of the chain and has been sold in stores. We do not wish to compete with people who are down stream from us that we rely on to get our games to the public.

This post helps promote the game as now more people know about the upcoming phases of the painting contest and can decide whether or not they wish to participate.

We are a little behind on updating our web presence and our communication could use some work here and there as I mentioned above, these are issues we have identified as well and are working to address.

Thanks for your patience and have a great weekend!
