    Zac says:

And just to check, it isn’t too incestuous for me to be posting this here is it?

    briguy says:

IMO, it’s news, and I’ve been listening to the podcast both before and after you joined it. I see nothing wrong with it personally.

Podcasts are a weird thing in that once you’re hooked on one, you don’t need the news postings for it, but you never find new ones unless there are constant postings about them. So I think this is a fair thing to be put up here.

    Darkson says:

They spelled Darkson wrong on the site?

I think you are posting it without it being too incestuous - its not like your pushing it.

Sounds interesting - I’ll have to try and listen to it now.

    They did. I’ll email Troy

Great episode. Seems like you playtest a lot of stuff, Zac! Anything in the pipeline that you can say you’re looking at, at the moment?

p.s. About the piracy issue… I think that not releasing in PDF is no way of ensuring that books are not pirated. In fact, it’s probabbly going to result in a pirated book as someone will scan it and put it up in an IRC channel or on a torrent site.

99.99% of wargame and RPG publications released have been scanned and put online.

These guys actively go after publications that are not yet scanned or in PDF format.

Maybe the Future War Commander people don’t want the casual gamer ’sharing’ their copy of the book, I suppose.

p.p.s. Thank god for North Americans! Hopefully the Aussie dollar will rebound against the Yank next year and my mates will go ahead and buy copies of Future War Commander from a US webstore instead of having to pay someone in pounds sterling.

Anything I am playtesting I am typically not at leisure to discuss

    Sentient Bean says:

    come onnnnnnn. Hint?

After listening to a good chunk of this episode, I have to say, one thing I find very difficult to listen to is the difference in vocal volume between the two of you. When I’m trying to listen to this with my headphones on, Troy nearly bursts my eardrums at the volume level I need to be able to hear anything Zac says.

I would have contacted Troy to mention this to him, but I can’t seem to find any way to get in touch with him. Zac, could you maybe mention this to him for your next episode? Thanks.

    Sentient Bean says:

Have you noticed how Zac’s voice gets clipped and sometimes sounds like it’s got a “waa waa” guitar effect on?

I also like how when Zac gets muted for some reason, Troy just carries on like nothing happened.. ;)

The podcast is done via Skype and that is the sound that Troy gets via Skype. Not the best but its cheaper than doing 45 minute long distance calls each week :-)

    briguy says:

Email sent Thanks Zac. I couldn’t for the life of me find a contact address for him.

I also like how when Zac gets muted for some reason, Troy just carries on like nothing happened.. ;) Ever wish that real life was more like the internet some days? ;-P

(And seeing as Zac just helped me with a communication issue on this same thread, you can see I’ve just squashed any good karma coming my way.)

    samuraigunslinger says:

Thanks for the constructive criticism. There is nothing I can do about the wha wha effect, that is packet loss from skype, but the volume is my fault for not doing the usual sound balancing this episode. I did not hear as much of a difference during editing but I am using an expensive audio rig with mixing board so I should not have assumed that it would be the same over earbuds on listeners ipods.

Also I did have a feedback tab on the site but I can see how it may have been overlooked. I changed it to Contact US and its on the right hand side of the menu bar so it should be more visible and easy to find now.

I also corrected the spelling error as well.

Always trying to make the show better, and thanks again everyone.

    Sentient Bean says:

Hey, it’s a cool show. Don’t worry too muchabout the technical things. I’d much prefer if you guys went with substance over style anyway. A few minor techinal glitches are nothing. I’ve been a presenter and producer on live radio and we’ve had worse things happen! :)

    briguy says:

Troy: Thanks for looking into that. Keep up the great work, I’m enjoying the podcast quite a bit!
