    Muteki (Gareth) says:

I’d be interest to see the total savings on these compared to buying the parts separately. I’m not sure of their focus with these. When it comes to a kid at Christmas, when they compare this to say an X-Box or PS3, which right out of the box is playable, I’m not sure these large expensive packs can compete.

I’ll be interested to see the Brettonian one if it ever surfaces but they seem to go going for full plastic in these kits.

    blkdymnd says:

Not necessarily, the Dwarf one has a bunch of metal in it.

And actually, these all look ready to rock as soon as you open them. Wish you could select some of the sets instead of being stuck with them though.

I’d pick up the Vampire Counts if I could do away with some of the heroes and the Blood Knights in Favor of Mounted Grave Guard, and ditch the ghouls for more Skeletons.

    scottywan82 says:

And to answer the question about price, the Vampire Counts Army is “worth” $558. So you Save $163.

    Gitteau says:

I might actually be interested in something like this if they weren’t all (at least) half plastic.

I like how after all these years, the box armies still look nothing like what an experienced player brings to the table. It would seem like the easiest thing in the world to come up with a basic, themed army that is actually tactically sound, but I will probably never see it.

Also, with the way the trade reps are pushing these as alternatives to an Xbox shows how out of touch GW is. Other than veteran players with some extra cash, I would imagine most of these will end up in a closet/attic/eBay within 2-3 years.

    BlazeXI says:

Well the picture of Defenders of Ulthan shows 3 chariots, wheras the description states only one is included. I wonder what the real thing is. These sets are only good if you are starting a new army, IMHO.
