New GRRM previews and release news from Dark Sword
Dark Sword Miniatures have posted new previews of the next wave of releases in the George R. R. Martin Masterworks range as well as other interesting tidbits.
From their announcement:
We now have all 10 of the George R.R. Martin Masterworks Wave 1.5 miniature previews posted up on our site. So that is nine (yes count em - nine.) new minis posted up for your viewing pleasure. If you count the painted version of the Lannister Lady in Waiting by Marike, well then there are 10 new mini’s to check out folks.
For those of you that were not at Gen Con Indy to see these miniatures right there in our booth display case, you should know that we have added the sculpting talents of Jeff Grace and Dave Summers to the GRRM line. Jeff has sculpted up six Wildlings and is working on Mance Rayder as I type this. Dave Summers will be sculpting up all of the Dire Wolves including a diorama of the dead mother Dire Wolf with the broken antler and the puppies from the first chapter of the first book to kick things off. GRRM Giants and Dragons would be next on the hit list for Dave. The line has so many characters and troop/background flavor type miniatures to do, that we needed to bring in some help so it was not all resting on the shoulders of Tom Meier. Tom Meier is a busy person to begin with, but this year he is busy beyond belief with things on multiple fronts. Tom still has a hit list of named
characters from Wave # 2 to sculpt up, so whenever he gets a run of time to get into a groove on them, we will let everyone know by posting up the pics.
We also have a number of new Jeff Grace sculpts to show off for our Visions in Fantasy Line next week - so stay tuned.
We posted up our two 6th Anniversary Miniatures of our painter Marike Reimer in our Online Store. There is a 54mm version and a standard Dark Sword sized 28mm version. We also have the Easley Demon posted up in our Online Store.
Stay tuned for more updates in the weeks ahead along with some reviews of a couple new painting DVD’s I was able to snap up at Gen Con Indy: Hot Lead by Lazlo Jakusovszky and another Miniature painting DVD by the French Painter Jérémie Bonamant Teboul. Both of these DVD sets clock in at around 8 hours each. I love stuff like this as there is room for many more DVD instructional videos from the top painters out there. As you all know I am a huge fan of the Miniature Mentor painting tutorials as well. The more knowledge like this being made available, the better for us miniature painters wanting to learn different techniques.
I hope to have our Gen Con Miniature Pics this week. I will post everything up in a Gen Con report (as usual) once Mengu gets me my CD/DVD with the pics they took at the show of the Dark Sword entries. Some great looking Dark Sword stuff at the show again - no question about it.
