  • Snake Bite D&D Miniatures scenario posted

Wizards has posted a new scenario for the D&D Miniatures game titled Snake Bite.

    From their website:

Snake Bite is a solo adventure using Dungeons & Dragons Miniatures and the DDM battle rules. It is designed to be played by one player but can also be played by two or more players working together, by one player and one DM, or by a group of players and a DM.

For this scenario, you’ll need the Jungle Temple map from the D&D Miniatures Starter Set, the Drow Enclave map from the Fane of the Drow Fantastic Locations set, and a handful of miniatures. You can preview the scenario onscreen, but you’ll still need to download the whole package (scenario, ally tables, stat cards, and reference map) in order to play. All the stat cards you’ll need for the encounters are included, in case you don’t already have them in your collection. For heroes, you can use whatever miniatures you do have (or download additional stat cards from the available sets).

The page also includes a download to a free version of the Drow Enclave map.

Seems like WotC is looking for a nice way to introduce a “dungeon mode” to tehir DDMini game. At least, their fear of WOW mini will help build an additional way of playing I hope.

I’ve downloaded this and it looks a lot of fun.

I’d like to see more of these kind of articles.

I agree with a few folks on the WOTC forum who ask that RPG stats & info is included with this kind of thing so that it appeals to their entire audience.

    Nice work WOTC.

Actually, that kind of “dumbed down tactical” RPG makes me wonder why the actual DD 4th Ed. complicates some charts, when their mini game is so simple and easy to use, yet efficient and fun.

With a little more fluff around it, it is a real nice scenario for the RPG…

True enough - D&D minis can very easily be used as a basis for rpging instead of the full game.

Although it wouldn’t appeal so much to the more old school RPGers who don’t use minis so much and have more of a story-led, character interaction campaign running.

I’m not sure how many of those players will be using D&D 4e though as WOTC have definitely leaned more towards having minis over the years (I’ve used minis ever since basic D&D but know of a few groups that thought they were unnecessary).
