  • John Blanche unveils the Wheel of Misfortune

The John Blanche website has been updated with some new content of interest to 40K fans.

    From their announcement:

John Blanche has completed another addition to his website in time for Games Day. Known as The Wheel of Misfortune this arcane device gives an insight into the world of the 41st millennium. Scholars have been baffled by its construction and are at a loss to explain its workings, which seem to be a mix of the mechanical, the electronic and something far more sinister.

Nicely done, but much as I love the work of John Blanche, who is still my all-time favourite concept artist, I have to say I prefer it in the form of miniatures or picture books.

Liked the artwork, but too clicky clicky clicky. All that java/flash loading got old pretty quickly. Gave up after a few seconds. Those with longer attention spans may appreciate it more…

I’ve seen more difficult sites to understand and navigate, but I can’t remember any of them.. this will probably recieve the same fate.
    Pity.

Most excellent. I really enjoy exploring this site. It’s a bit of a puzzle, but that’s kind of the point I think. Besides, it wouldn’t be art if you didn’t have to work a bit to appreciate it.

    Lovely graphics

    More! More!

Well I had to disable pop-ups to get the Wheel of Misfortune page to load. No points for the use of needless pop-up code in the site.

I agree that the point behind it is to explore it but I also think that sometimes artists forget that the majority of their audience isn’t as intrigued by the concept of exploration as much as they are.

    I don’t get it…
