  • Confrontation Guard Unit and Attachment previews

Rackham have posted photos of the Lion Guard Unit and Attachment boxes.

Lion Army : Unit Box Guards
The guards of Alahan are volunteers, commoners without money, poor peasants and penniless craftsmen willing to fight for the ideals of the kingdom. All guards are given a weapon and armor by their lord. They go through a short training period in order to learn the basics of the art of combat. The primary quality of a guard is neither the strength of his arms nor the sharpness of his sword, it is his loyal heart and unfailing bravery that are his sharpest weapons.

Lion Army : Attachment Box Guards
Firmly holding their shield and fitted with solid armor, the guards of Alahan are the backbone of any Barhan offensive. Even fear has little effect on these heralds of Light and Virtue, especially when they are accompanied by a standard bearer. The guards´ attacks are devastating when motivated by the military tunes of a musician. Supported by an agent of the Chimera, fearsome warrior mages capable of locking the power of Light into the weapons of their companions, the guards become formidable enemies and a great escort for Barhan magicians.

Again, I can only guess that those must be production minis. Or perhaps they’re production minis that have been cleaned up a bit? The pre-painted detail is way better than (eg) D&D minis which makes me think that they got special attention. But the attachment box standard bearer has just enough spilt ink on his weapon that they couldn’t possibly be studio painted.

I’m not sure if I love or hate the color scheme they picked for everyone. It could be very cool, but I worry it will look ridiculous on the tabletop…

I never was a fan of Alahan but I do like the looks of these minis. AT-43 and Hybrid are my Rackham games of choice but I might have to look into CAOR because of these and the Dirz.

Being prepainted makes me like them :-) After the Cynwall the Lions were the most frightening to paint IMO

Trent, I don’t know if these are production or not, but I’ve heard the term “production masters” tossed around ie, possibly they are the models on which the production paint jobs are based… just a theory.

I think they look good for ppp. I wouldn’t be surprised to see them popping up in D&D games and such (they’ll do much better than the mage knight minis we currently use =P)
