  • Warlord showcase painted Auxiliaries

Warlord Games have posted photos of painted versions of their 28mm Roman Auxiliary miniatures.

    From their announcement:

The title of this item says it all. Fresh from the brush of talented painter Dr Phil Hendry we have pics of our lovely new metal Auxiliaries.

These are shown with just one of 5 different shield designs by Little Big Men Studios so you can tailor the look of your force to suit your personal tastes. We\’ll have more pics of painted models for you later this week.

They look pretty nice, I’d find a tutorial or even “recipe” useful though.

Some of that may be due to my lack of historical knowledge too, was the light coloured clothing typical for auxiliaries or was it worn by legionaries too? Hmm, I think I need an Osprey…

    Zac says:

Most of the colours used are entirely subjective anyway. No-one really knows how these guys were dressed

    Grant says:

I had a feeling all of my notions of the colours were Hollywood inspired.

    evernevermore (John) says:

Light colors are popular historically cause they represented undyed fabric - which was cheaper and more accessible then dyed fabrics. That said romans where notorious for the showiness of some of thier actions so any color other then purple or fluorescents (sp?) is at least BS’able as being used
