One ruleset that could be easily adapted for legendary martial artists is possible Pulp .45 Adventure. The basic combat rules would have to be extended with suitable martial arts feats…but the basic .45 rules are hero based with a cinematic/legendary feel to them already. Just a thought. |

I think the guys on waywo podcast had talked about Savage Worlds being a very adaptable system. Might be worth a look. |

The problem is hat Dynasty Warriors have uber powerful main characters fighting whole armies on their own. Something that might be problematic with most tabletop rules :-) |

Something that might be problematic with most tabletop rules :-) Might be worth taking a look at warhammer fantasy battle and writing some ‘uber’ characters with the equivalent of fate points instead of wounds and let them ignore the odds stacked against the when outnumbered. Maybe allow them to move freely from combats too. Have the opposition forces made up of predominantly low cost grunts. Oh and give your characters some form of invulnerable save type thing against missile fire something like a 3+ for some uber swordsman who can cut arrows from the air in huge quantities or has a super-cool ’step aside’ move against big war machine type stuff coming in :-) |

I don’t believe there is any practical way you could really replicate the Dynasty Warriors console games on the tabletop because the figure count would have to be so ridiculously high! You could go for a similiar ‘feel’ however with a few uber characters and a reasonable pool of enemies that simply replenish themselves - which is how .45 Pulp Adventure handles that concept with their ‘Horde of Mooks’ streamlined rules. |

I think there is a misconception about the Three Kingdoms, well unless you are really looking for a one man army type of game. The warrior generals in the 3 Kingdoms are not the uber one man army of doom. Sure, they were great martial artsts but not one man armies. I blame dynasty warriors for that…. While I cannot offer any suggestions for a game system, 3 Kingdoms was about grand armies being led by charismatic and powerful generals leading thousands upon thousands of troops. |

Indeed there is and Dynasty Warriors is indeed to blame but Ken did want to recreate Dynasty Warriors and not the historical Three Kingdoms period. :-) IIRC Warhammer Ancients has an expansion for the Three Kingdoms era does it not? |

I know nothing about the Three Kingdoms. I do know, if you want a system where one hero can wade through hordes of weenies, that Supersystem is an excellent rule system for this. You would have to modify the powers to represent the things you want, but it is a great system for making the hordes of guys abstract while still quite playable, and focusing on the actions of the heroes. |

I used Dynasty Warriors as a reference because more people are familiar with it. I realize a game where it is Lu Bu versus 500 sword-fodder footsoldiers is not much fun. I was thinking more about the look and feel of the period, and, if there is some crazy “musou” attacks, then all the better. I just haven’t seen much of this period/style. |
