Dark Sword news and updates
News and a rumour of a possible price increase today from Dark Sword Miniatures.
From their announcement:
We have a good deal of new greens to post up in the weeks leading to Gen Con Indy in August. We will get new greens posted up about every week leading to Gen Con Indy.
But to start the 4th of July Festivities off with a bang, I figured it would be best to kick things off with pictures of our 6th Anniversary Miniature (or Miniatures I should say) of: Miss Marike Reimer - Mistress of the Bugs - Sculpted by Mr. Tom Meier.
Yes folks, we decided to immortalize the very talented Miss Marike Reimer in pewter. And to make matters even better, there is a 54mm version and a standard 28mm version of her in different poses. So if you always wanted a Gigantic Marike in your army to stomp on your opponents, now is your chance. Both versions go together in terms of the storyline of her journey to becoming a Goddess of well…Bugs.
On another note, I wanted to take a moment to let you all know that there will most likely be a good-sized price increase coming down the pike very soon unless metal prices drop like a rock. Metal prices have more than tripled since I started Dark Sword six years ago. I wanted to hold prices down, but I need to also ensure I keep things profitable so I can invest the proceeds into making cool new miniatures for everyone.
Dark Sword is a very small miniatures company when compared to the big dogs that can pull their money out of a new miniature upon release into the distribution system. Our print-runs are much smaller than the big boys so it takes us much longer to fully pay for producing each miniature. In addition, we are a niche company for discerning collectors of realistic proportioned miniatures and crisp details. So our audience is much smaller than the major companies with built-in fan bases for their games.
So long story short, if you have had your eye on some of our miniatures, I would pick them up now at the existing prices as odds are they will going up very soon. I wanted to provide a heads-up on this so it did not come out of nowhere even though every other miniatures company out there is feeling the squeeze as well on massive increases in metal prices.
