I've also never seen it said that one couldn't/shouldn't mix the metal and plastic ranges. In fact they spent alot of time reassuring people that ALL of their metal models would be compatible with the new game.

And while mixing metal and plastic has never been an issue for platers near me, it has seemed to be Rackham’s firm stance up until this article that the two are seperate and not to be mixed with one another.

I've never seen this and Rackham posted army lists in advance of the plastic models so people could use their metal figs.

The card packs they sell are also for people to use their metal minis so I would really have to disagree with this.

I dint get that feeling anywhere here or elsewhere. The author said he picked up two boxes of Fang Warriors and a fang UA box. Those are the new plastics. I have never felt like Rackham discourages mixing metal and plastic.

In fact, this article just seems a simple way to address an issue that many have brought up. Sure, it is a bit contrived and basic, but a lot of people showed dismay that they didnt have enough metal minis to play AoR when it first came out. And all the players I know that tried to see what they could do, had an experience similar to that shown in this article. When they sat down and looked at it, they were only a few purchases away from turning their C3 force into an AoR one.

I sympathize with everyone put out by Rackham with he change to AoR, but it costs us all a lot more to get our armies up to snuff every time GW changes editions. And moving from a Mordheim force (skirmish), to a Warhammer one (mass battle) would be much more difficult and expensive.

Yes, I think these FFG articles have been basic and somewhat self-promoting, but they are a business, and I feel that GW's publications and online articles are far worse.

That fact that this article addresses he biggest complaint about the move to AoR (next to pre-paints maybe), makes it news-worthy in my book.

That´s fair enough.
I know that as the mod and amin you always have to make a decision on what to post and what not.
And with comments field activated tere will always be someone counterbalancing. ;-)

I really don´t know why you made a news out of this, ZAC.

I try not to make decisions like that. Some people may be interested in it and its not really my place to make those decisions for people. I try to post as much news as I can with a few exceptions that I hope are addressed in the FAQ.

I really don´t know why you made a news out of this, ZAC.
That was really a time waster! (luckily only a short one)

The text is a crude mix of hoax/lies, ad, 10%info and.. well ad.
Looks like they make fun of the people who actually DID start confro "several years ago" (and no, several years ago, it wasn´t confro 3, it was confro 1 and later 2) and DID start because of the "the beautifully sculpted miniatures". And sorry, Confro NEVER was a "fun skirmish game". That´s Warmachine you are talking about. ;-)

But seriously, it is creepy to see that FFG - who always let the quality of their products speak for itself - now starts to publish texts like that on their page.
Especially since AoR seems to be a good game which does not need this kind of cheap ad!

Also, does this mean that we can now mix metal and plastic models and use the army books? Rackham has been pretty firm on plastic-army books, metal=.pdf files.

You could always mix them.

And I'm even alright with it being an adevert. But as an ad, it's terrible. They should show people what they're purchasing! Also, does this mean that we can now mix metal and plastic models and use the army books? Rackham has been pretty firm on plastic-army books, metal=.pdf files.

I hardly think that constitutes itself as an advertisement. It's more like merely stating the obvious as the article is on their site already. Now if there were hyperlinks to each product in the online store for each mention of a particular unit or model then I can see the blatant use of the article to point people to purchase things. Then again I wouldn't blame a company for doing so as you would want to make it as east as possible for a customer to buy things.

It's not a terrible article, just a little short on substance.

As I browsed the FFG website I discovered everything I needed was available online.

That's probably the sentence that takes it over the top from article to advertisement.

I would, but I'd have to copy and paste the whole thing ;) I'm not saying it was a bad thing, I think it just could have been done better instead of being a glorified webstore advertisement.

Damn. I REALLY wanted to like this article. The concept is great, and should really be applied to each army, as a way to bridge the gap for C3.5 players. But without pictures, it just doesn't do it for me. It really doesn't take into account the differences in the appearence of forces between C3.5 and C:AoR, and that is something that needs to be addressed.
