I tend to have alot more painting projects running at once but I tend to jump from project to project after Ive done one step on each.

I'm not 100% sure but it looks like you could block him out fairly quickly to a gaming standard and then at your leisure finish him up properly.

I cant really see any sculpting issues to complain about, though it would help to have a bare metal version with an ink wash to double check

Of course he's not as good as some converters work - but imagine the conversions from him!

I liked it more as a green, but only because I don't like the day-glo ork/orc skin the GW studio painters are doing lately. It's a nice model, but I've seen some better conversions around the place.

I guess that's the problem with making official models of the special characters -- there's less reason to go balls-out on converting your own versions.

Edit: Of course, that complaint doesn't mean he'll not find his way into my backlog. ;)

Agreed he does look fun to paint - I'm just becoming more aware that I have very limited painting time so having simpler sculpts helps me paint more minis.

And I like to try to get a mini painted and finished in about 1-2 sessions (equates to 3-5 hours) - granted most of this is probably looking at it and musing about it on the tabletop.

I try to juggle 2-3 minis at any one session and I always do a bit of blending here and there instead of block, wash and drybrush.

I dont know - there is GW fiddly detail and Rackham fiddly detail - bit of a difference.

I dont mind the detail as much since it really is characterful enough for him - he looks like it would be fun to paint up, though I doubt a gaming standard paint job will do him justice - so how many editions now that it took to get him a model?

Gotta say I like him.

Although I'm starting to prefer the 'less is more approach' to sculpting minis from a painting perspective (too much detail makes it's so fiddly) I like the amount of character oozing out of this one.

Hez a propa Vultcha Skwadd Boss he iz!

:-)

If GW have done anything with the orcs/orks of fantasy and sci-fi they've made it near impossible or the players that like the race to talk and spell in a funny language - doh! what a fan boy.
