    Operation FROSTBITE preview

    Rackham have posted details of their upcoming Operation FROSTBITE expansion. They have also posted photos of three miniatures (1,2, and 3) associated with the campaign.

    From their announcement:

    The conflicts opposing the armies of AT-43 are crystallizing around a planet known for its extreme weather conditions and that has gained huge strategic significance for all the armies in the galaxy: Élysée.

    It is in these hostile conditions that the players will deploy and move their companies over different sectors scattered over three main battlefronts where the U.N.A., the Red Blok, the Therians and the Karmans are fighting. As the Frostbite campaign gains momentum, the players will benefit from a variety of advantages gained during previous battles or, on the contrary, suffer the consequences of their recent failures.

    There are 18 missions that can be played in two different ways, plus a deadly tie breaking mission. That´s 37 different games the players will have to fight to install their domination! Operation Frostbite also allows you to discover exclusive terrain elements: crystals and reversible gaming tiles. But the set also includes rules for neutral fighters. Adding new flavor to the game, new combat drills are also offered along with rules for support units and troop transport units.

    Operation: Frostbite is a major supplement for AT-43. Two to four players will compete in a new campaign mode and watch their companies gain experience thanks to the optional rules sections. Available in summer 2008, the Frostbite campaign for AT-43 is forecast to blast some very cool winds over miniatures strategy gaming!

    Operation: Frostbite is the second story based campaign for AT-43

    This supplement offers…

    • New rules for terrain new elements (crystals, outdoor gaming tiles, and so on.) and neutral fighters, such as the civil engineers and the MedTec medics;
    • Support unit rules to use the specialists from the Attachment Boxes;
    • Troop transport rules;
    • New combat drills;
    • New troops and exclusive heroes for the U.N.A., the Therians, the Red Blok and the Karmans;
    • A new campaign game mode for 2 to 4 players;
    • Optional rules to give experience to companies;
    • 37 exclusive missions to play as part of the campaign or in one-off games;
    • The official AT-43 errata.

    Why can’t they hire a competent French to English translator? I guaranty I could do a better job and I’d do it for free! (well, maybe for a unit box or two).

    This isn’t really related to the news item at hand. Lets try to limit the discussion to the news and not drift off into tangential issues

    Thanks

    Why isnt it related? Isnt that part of the production process for a game that hopes to cross language markets?

    I know its one of the factors helping to keep my interest in Hell Dorado, anything Rackham and Alkemy to a minimum of appreciating the minis

    Zac says:

    Because the translators who work for Rackham isn’t a part of this news story.
