TGN Chat: Top ten games

TGN Chat

Welcome to our inaugural TGN Chat. As suggested when we were discussing the Polls this is intended to be an irregular post where we can chat about issues that aren’t related to the news but are still gaming related. If you have a suggestion for a discussion topic please feel free to contact us with it.

So how is this different than the Ask TGN posts? Good question, and I don’t really have an answer for that other than this is an area where the TGN staff and others can post out random topics to discuss whereas the Ask TGN posts are more focused. Or at least that is the idea.

So for this initial topic, I thought I’d steal an idea from Warseer and ask what people’s top ten tabletop games are.

Update: I’ll be tracking responses until Sunday evening and then posting a list of results after that. Any results posted after Sunday night won’t be included in the consolidated list I post but will still be fun to read.

Update 2: I have posted the top ten games.

Zac says:

My list:

AE-WWII
Confrontation v3
Sci-fi Commander (not released yet :-)
Warmaster Ancients
Hordes
Void
Chainmail
BattleTech

evernevermore (John) says:

Cant really say I have 10

Solid Favorites are AE-WW2 and Battletech

I love the Warhammer 40k setting and fluff but the rules leave a bit to be desired
No Limits is a good ruleset but alot of effort to creat an army for

And Ive never really done much small scale gaming.

Upcoming or interesting rules;
Infinity and Vor 2.0, maybe Battlefield: World at War

LarkinVain (Joel) says:

Here’s my list:

1. Warmachine/Hordes
2. Pulp City
3. AE-WW2
4. Anima Tactics
5. Hell Dorado
6. Confrontation Age of Ragnarok
7. AT-43
8. Heroscape
9. Warhammer 40k
10. Warhammer Fantasy

Gitteau says:

Probably forgetting some here. Also included a couple boardgames, but they’re close enough for me.

Confrontation 3
Blood Bowl
Chaos Warband rules from Realms of Chaos
Helldorado
Talisman
WFB
40k 2nd edition
Heroclix
Necromunda
AT-43

paint monkey says:

In order
1 - Infinity
2 - Confrontation v2
3 - Confrontation v3
4 - Anima Tactics
5 - The Rattrap games, .45 Adv, Gloire, etc
6 - Necromunda
7 - Epic/Space Marine
8 - StarGrunt 2
9 - Pirates by Flagship games

Thats only 9 because I really like the rules we here at Zombiesmith are working on but figured I shouldn’t put them in the list. :)

Torben Kastbjerg says:

My list:

VOID (going to use it as a base template for most of my future 28mm skirmish games; as soon as I get around to it)
Blood Bowl
Mechwarrior (yes, the clix game)
Savage Worlds
Space Hulk
.45 Adventure
Troops, Weapons and Tactics
No Limits

And that’s it so far; still looking for new titles to add to this list. Of course, I could name some of those I’ve made on my own, but they won’t count, would they? ;)

Chad says:

Well If I had to do do only 10…

1 - VOID
2 - Confrontation 3.0
3 - Hordes/Warmachine
4 - Helldorado
5 - Dark Age
6 - Warmaster
7 - AT-43
8 - Anima Tactics
9 - Epic:Armegeddon
10 - Battlefleet Gothic

Althtough I have yet to try AE-WWII and Infinity I have a feeling they might fit into the list from what I have heard.

Chameleon says:

I also don’t think I have ten favorites (ASL takes up about half my available gaming time… do boardgames count?), but here’s what I play on a regular basis in order of tabletop time spent:

1. Panzer Miniatures
2. MBT (boardgame converted to minis)
3. IDF (boardgame converted to minis)

All three of these are excellent games, having lots of detail without being bogged down in complexity. A game with roughly a company of AFV’s on each side takes 60-90 minutes on average (a little longer when you add infantry, guns, air support, and artillery).

4. Federation Commander (” “)
5. Rag’narok (v1)
6. Confrontation (v2/v3)
7. House rules for 6mm scifi
8. AT-43

…and soon to be added will be Land Ironclads/Aeronef (when I get them painted).

stormwolf says:

My top ten are as follows:
1. Warhammer 40,000 Rogue Trader
2. Space Hulk
3. Ogre/GEV Board & Miniatures
4. Full Thrust II
5. Hero Quest
6. Combat Zone
7. Hammer’s Slammers/Anvils
8. Mordhiem
9. BattleTech (Old skool)
10. Star Fleet Battles

Others which do not quite make the list are: Kryomek, Mecha Carnage, OHMU War machine, Hellfire, Warhammer 1-3rd editions & 5150 if I ever manage to get my head around it.

How do you eat yours?

SW

evernevermore (John) says:

Hmmm - lots of skirmish and large army small scale games

xeoran says:

Rather than ten just my favorites:
Warmachine (the rules at least, I don’t really like the armies, setting or anything else).
Infinity (probably my favorite, one of the few innovative rulesets out there).
AE WW2
Pulp City (Haven’t played it but from the sounds of it its brilliant).
Mordheim
Necromunda

metalminimadness says:

I don’t have ten… I actually may not even have 5. But I’d say Warmachine, AT-43, Star Wars CMG and Anima Tactics are all up there. I have the starter for Urban Mammoth (but not fully painted or assembled yet, so not played), I have a Hordes starter but not painted yet and I have a bunch of other collectable miniatures but none I’d say was the be all end all. I’m extremely interested in Pulp City, Malifaux Matters and Mutant Chronicles. And everyone seems to say great thinga about AE-WWII. But I might go with the Tannhauser board game to start off the Weird War II stuff.

toymaker says:

40k
AE-WWII
Confrontation v3
Hordes
Warmachine

And I’d like to check out SOTR fluff when it comes out

puck says:

Well, as other, I don’t have ten… So, for me :

1- Infinity
2- Helldorado
3- Dark age
4- Anima Tactics
5- Confrontation 3

For the future, maybe Hordes, Warmachine, and SOTR ?

Trent McCaffrey says:

1. Hordesmachine
2. Descent
3. AT-43
4. Bloodbowl….getting tired of it though, switching to Elfbowl
5. Epic: A
6. Warhammer
7. 40k
8. Axis & Allies Naval

I want to try some Battlefleet Gothic, Warmaster, and CAoR!

paint monkey says:

Ohhhh, forgot BFG, damn!

Marauder says:

I like the idea Zac:

1. Hordesmachine
2. AT-43
3. CAoR
4. Star Fleet Battles
5. D&D Minis
6. SW Minis
7. LOTR
8. Gothic
9. Fantasy
10. 40k

Void would be in there too, but really AT-43 has replaced it for me.

metalminimadness says:

This is going to sound naive but do they sell Helldorado starters and rulebooks in English yet and side question, which is better for skirmish games, Helldorado or Infinity. Yes I know they’re different genres, I’m just trying to get an idea of which keeps the interest up and gets seen on the table at the local shops more.

Grant says:

1. Hordes
2. AT-43
3. Infinity
4. Hell Dorado
5. Alkemy
6. AE-WWII
7. Tannhauser
8. Hero Quest
9. Confrontation v3
10. Victory at Sea

That’s the order right now, it’s liable to change within minutes though ;-)

Doc_Savage says:

HeroScape
Tannhauser
WH 40K Rogue Trooper
AT-43
Space Hulk
Mutant Chronicles: Siege of the Citadel
Star Wars Minis
HeroQuest

40K/Space Hulk are the only minis battle game I built and painted armies for.

As you can see I like games with minis in them. I just don’t have time to paint anymore…

With prepaints I will probably play Starship Troopers if they ever make it…

oldsalt says:

1. Warmachine
2. Subbuteo
3. AT-43
4. Hordes
5. Confrontation - Age of Rag’narok (aka the one that Conf 3 players hate)
6. Necromundia / Gorka morka (esp with the cross-over)
7. Warhammer Fantasy Battle version 3
8. Mighty Empires
9. WH40K version 1, 2 and 3.
10. Don’t break the Ice! (awesome at age 4 to 94!)

richinq says:

1. Flames of War
2. Urban war / Metropolis
3. War machine
4. Air Assault on Create (avalon hill)
5. Star Fleet Battles / Federation commander
6. Advanced Squad Leader
7. Warhammer Ancient battles / Warmaster Ancient battles
8. Warhammer
9. Spearhead: The Great War
10. HG Wells Little Wars

palaeomerus says:

I dunno about “best” but there are my favorites. This is about psychological attachment more than quality and some of these may be significantly elevated by nostalgia.

1. Ogre Miniatures (Steve Jackson Games)
2. Wargods of Aegyptus (Crocodile games)
3. Warmachine/Hordes (Privateer Press)
4. Heavy Gear (Dream Pod Nine games)
5. 5150 and All things Zombie (Two Hour Wargames)
6. Warhammer Ancients ( Warhammer Historical Games )
7. Necromunda ( Games Workshop )
8. Mecha! ( Flagship games, formerly Seventh Street games )
9. Mekton Zeta + when played as a wargame (R. Talsorian Games)
10. Starfleet Battles (when kept simple)

Stuff I’d like to try or get into: Starmada, Defiance, Ares, Aeronef, Ironstars, LaserBurn, AEWWII, SOTR, .45 Adventure, Chaos in Carpathia

Stuff I really like but didn’t quite make the list: Dirtside II, Full Thrust, Stargrunt II, AD&D 3rd edition miniatures (ironically played with paper cut outs), Battletech, Killzone, Kryomek, Warhammer 40K, AD&D Battlesystem II and AD&D Battlesystem skirmish, Warzone 2nd edition, Legion of Steel, Spacehulk, AT-43, Dungeon.

Rich_B says:

In no particular order:

Confrontation v3/3.5
Infinity
WFB
WH40K
BFG
Chess
All Things Zombie
Anima Tactics
Munchkin
Hell Dorado

Close elevenths+ :

Battletech
Space Crusade (purely rose-tinted… I think my old set is buried in the loft at my parents, if it didn’t get binned… But it did get me into sci-fi gaming from being a WFB 3rd ed dabbler and probably was the true start of my addiction)
Operation Overlord/Alzo Zero
Warmaster
Blood Bowl
Epic 40k/Space Marine (bliss to play, sheer hell to paint!)

Its a bit of an open-ended list really as there are a fair few other games that I would like to try that could easily stand alongside these, I’ve never played any PP games, Stargrunt, Urban War, Dark Age, Stargrunt or Rezolution, and I get the impression I could get on well with any of them. I’ve not played many historical games either and could see myself enjoying some of them, especially Flames of War, Warmaster Ancients, WAB, and Legends of the High Seas/Old West.

Some of the ones I’ve picked for my top ten are tried and tested favourites a bit like a pair of comfy old pants, some have managed to muscle their way into my affections for a regular slot on the gaming table, whilst others are still in the shiny new toy stage. I’d guess everyone else picks in roughly the same way?

Rich

6. Necromunda
7. Warmachine
8. Twilight Imperium
9. Warhammer Quest
10. Can’t think of a 10. Got some roleplaying games that can go here (Degenesis, D&D, etc)

bishnak says:

Tacobake says:

Hordes, Epic and BFG. And the one time I played Blood Bowl.

I have not played Confrontation, Ragnarok or Necromunda, unfortunately.

There are some good board games out there too.

Gatoulas says:

Here we go:

1. Warmachine
2. Hordes
3. Anima Tactics
4. Necromunda
5. Infinity
6. Void
7. Vor
8. Blood Bowl
9. Dark Age
10. Space Hulk

steeldragon says:

1. Infinity
2. Dark Age
3. Hordes - Warmachine
4. Void
5. Space Hulk
6. Urban War
7. No Limits
8. Principles of War
9. Warhammer 40K
10. Battletech

stonehorse says:

1. Warmachine/Hordes - Privateer Press
2. Lord of the Rings - Games Workshop
3. Space Hulk - Games Workshop
4. AT-43 - Rackham
5. Confrontation: TAOR - Rackham
6. Warmaster Ancients - Games Workshop
7. Babylon 5 A Call to Arms - Mongoose
8. Starship Troopers - Mongoose
9. Warhammer Fantasy Battles - Games Workshop
10.Wargods of Aegyptus - Crocadile Games

Muteki (Gareth) says:

It’s interesting people put Warmachine and Hordes together. Whilst they are pretty similar I’d say Hordes edges out WM simply because of the Fury vs Focus mechanic and need for beasts as opposed to ‘jacks. Still, I love me some Jacks :D

I don’t really have a top 10 but my list would include.

* Hordes
* Warmachine
* Space Hulk
* Hero Quest
* Urban War
* 40k
* Fantasy Battle
* Flames of War

I’ve recently picked up the Warlord book after reading into reapers RAGE system. Sounds ok but it seems to lack popularity / player base - any reason for this? Does it suck? Badly advertised?

Kampfgruppe Cottrell says:

Battleground Weird War II
Tyranid Attack
Trivial Pursuit
Monsters Menace America
z-Man Card Games
Freecell
Zombies Ate My Neighbors
Kill Zone
Destroy All Humans
Zombies

Dagorlad (Alan) says:

I’m trying very hard to limit my active gaming to around three systems, purely for budget purposes.

* Warmachine/Hordes
* Lord of the Rings
* Pax Limpopo (in development)

But there are others that have my full attention, and while I’;m not actively playing these games, I have the rules and/or some figures:

* Flames of War
* Legends of the Old West
* Infinity
* AT-43
* AE-WWII

Trent McCaffrey says:

Trivial Pursuit

That’s no tabletop game! If we’re going to stray into boardgames then that’s another top ten list!

Warlord…Sounds ok but it seems to lack popularity / player base - any reason for this?

It’s ‘ok’, but not great at anything.
Ok minis
Ok background
Ok rules
It really needs something to set itself apart.

Neuro says:

Stargrunt II
HORDES
Confrontation 3
Hell Dorado
Wargods of AEgyptus
Full Thrust
Ogre Miniatures
AT-43
WARMACHINE
Warhammer Fantasy Battle 3rd edition

Keirof says:

Okay, I’m only going with games that I’ve played, and I’m rating them best evah at number 1, and so on down to 10. If a game isn’t there it doesn’t mean I didn’t play it (for just two examples, I’ve played AT-43 and Confrontation 2), it just means it didn’t make my top 10 list. And placement doesn’t mean anything in terms of number of times played. For example I have played more 40K than any other game there, and far more WFB than ATS.

1. Warmachine (best evah! pour moi)
2. Hordes
3. Warhammer Ancient Battles
4. Warhammer 40K 3rd and 4th editions
5. Advanced Tobruk System (Western desert games)
6. Warmaster
7. GW Lord of the Rings
8. Warhammer Fantasy Battle 5th and 6th editions
9. Battlelore
10.Crossfire (WW2)

Audrey says:

1. Forsaken (13th Realm)
2. Epic Armageddon (GW)
3. Warhammer Fantasy (GW)
4. Hordes (Privateer Press)
5. Fantastic Worlds (Rattrap Productions)
6. Super System (Four Color Figures)
7. Arc of Fire (TAC Publications)
8. Warmaster (GW)
9. AT-43 (Rackham)
10. Space Hulk (GW)

I am a bit biased since I wrote the rules for Forsaken. But I do love playing games with those rules.

chopa says:

1. Wargods of Ægyptus
2. Blood Bowl
3. Void
4. Spinespur
5. Dark Age
6. Anima Tactics
7. Hordes
8. Infinity

Heroclix
LOTR GW
Mordheim
Pirates (wizkids) pocketmodel/spanish main
Star wars pocketmodel
Star wars minis
Star wars starship battles
Warhammer Fantasy

Spooktalker says:

1. Necromunda
2. Warmaster
3. Mordheim
4. Hordes
5. Fantasy Warriors
6. Space Hulk
7. Epic 40k
8. 40k
9. Dark Future
10. Warmachine

Darkson says:

The games I am digging on:
Bang (Sweet Western card game. Kill your friends.)
Cash N Guns (Any game with foam guns is a blast)
40K (23 years and still going.)
WFB(Same as above)
Confrontation (3rd Ed)
AE-WWII (Its a must have) ;)
Space Hulk (Looking forward to the remake this year or next year.)

gavroche says:

I only have a top 5:

1. Crossfire
2. Hordes of the Things
3. Superfigs
4. Space Hulk
5. B’Hoys

I like these games for their playability & rules design, not for their miniatures (most of them don’t have an associated miniature range) or their setting & backgrounds. Typically I use them for other settings, together with miniatures I like from games I don’t care for ruleswise (such as the 2 warhammers).

Steel Rabbit says:

1 - Epic (Armageddon)
2 - Warhammer Fantasy
3 - Warmachine/Hordes
4 - Dark Age
5 - Confrontation: Age of the Rag’Narok
6 - AT-43
7 - Battletech
8 - Gorkamorka
9 - Warhammer 40,000
10 - D&D Miniatures

I both enjoyed doing this list and disliked doing this list because it makes me feel guilty about some games being on certain spots versus others…

Epic is the greatest game ever, followed quickly by Warhammer Fantasy (feel how you like about Games Workshop, but Warhammer is an intricate game and the best regiment game I’ve ever played (and yes, I’ve played a few like Rag’Narok, and Battlesystem))

Warmachine and Hordes are tight systems that are very combo-based and make you think and take chances. Battletech is one of my favorite games but takes some time to play and some agreeing on rules (but once you have a set of rules down it’s a brilliant game), which is why Confrontation and AT-43 placed above it. I hated Confrontation 2, 3 (.5 or whatever), and find these games a huge improvement. Confrontation is one above AT-43 for me because I just like fantasy over sci-fi (not to say I don’t like AT-43 and certainly not to say I don’t like sci-fi).

Dark Age is a brilliant system, with a very flexable army list, gorgeous models, and great backstory. It’s also a skirmish game, which is few and far between these days. It’s also a skirmish game that doesn’t end as a scrum in the middle (like Confrontation 3). Gorkamorka will always be one of my favorite games because I love Mad Max, and I love the 2nd edition 40K rules set. That’s why it’s one above 40K, I never dealt with the change to 3rd edition as well as others. Yet, here I am super-excited to finish my new Chaos army for 5th ed.

And finally D&D minis. I love D&D, I love miniatures, great! Sure they’re prepaints but you can still use your old Chainmail models and the 2nd edition of the game is super-tight!

Well… There ye have it!

gavroche says:

BTW, here’s a nice follow-up topic: a top ten of miniature ranges. While making my little list, I realized that the list of games whose rules I love is totally different from the list of games whose associated miniature ranges I like. For example, I genuinely like the newer WH40K & WFB plastics, but these days categorically refuse to play the shoddy Warhammer rules.

Audrey says:

It’s interesting seeing certain games that pop up in peoples lists. I do find that a top 10 is fairly easy to do. Imagine if you had to cut that list down to a top 5 or even top 3 list. Then you have to do some thing about your truly favorite games.

I do like the idea of a top 10 in miniature manufacturers.

evernevermore (John) says:

how about top ten in mini lines (not specific minis), top ten minis, top ten companies

anyone know any simple ways to tally up all the games listed? I’m curious to see what would come out and where

cannondaddy says:

1. Blood Bowl
2. Hormachine
3. Warhammer Fantasy
4, Space Hulk
5. Ogre
6. AT 43
7. Warhammer 40k
8. Confrontation
9. Crossbow and Catapults
10. Car Wars

Audrey says:

Yeah Zac, are you going to sort through all of this and tally it up? ; )

It would be neat to see, but not expected.

P-ko says:

my rather biased list…
1) Infinity: great model, rules that don’t limit yor decisions on the table.
2) starship troopers-nice company-sized rulest, let down by minis.
3)warmaster (both fantasy and ancients)-best GW game i think, easy to learn and you play battles, rather than glorified pub brawls like in warhammer.
4)Anima Tactics-quick, fun, also has action-point based rules
5)Hordes-nice models, very tight rules, but feels too constricting.
6)Full Thrust-easy,fast,has ship construction system.
7)Warmachine-like hordes,but even more restricting.
8)Mordheim-good skirmish game, great campaign rules
9)Warhammer battles-classic really, still can be fun despite ancient rules.
10)WH 40k- it could be really great game, but as it is, it’s place here is only due to huge universe and model range.

Zac says:

Yeah Zac, are you going to sort through all of this and tally it up? ; )

I am indeed

Zac says:

The list currently has over 100 games in it. I will be producing two lists. A smaller one that excludes games that only got one vote and then a fuller list with all the entries. The latter will take a little longer to produce.

evernevermore (John) says:

Sweet - Im eager to see what made it in the small list and if there are any surprises

Hellfury says:

In no really particular order, as this is my top ten pick of all TTg’s and is hard to rank one over the other.

1) AT-43 (Rackham)
2) Warmachine/Hordes (PP)
3) Axis and Allies miniature game (WotC)
4) Pirates of the (insert set name here) game (wizkids)
5) Space Hulk (GW)
6) Arkham Horror (FFG)
7) Legends of the Old West/High Seas (GWH)
8) Chain Mail (WotC prior to D&D minis)
9) Warzone (Target Games)
10) Battlefleet Gothic (GW)

Zombie_Taco says:

Hmmm… I guess for the betterment of science I will throw in my 2 cents

1. Space Hulk – it is what got me into miniature gaming back in ‘89

2. Warhammer 40k – the rules as of late are lacking but I love the dark sci-fi

3. Operation WWII – I love this game and painting 72nd scale models is easy

4. Confrontation 2 – still think this is the best fantasy skirmish rules I have read

5. AT-43 – never played a big game but I likes what I see

6. Battle Fleet Gothic – I know that there are other space fleet games that look great and I would play them if I knew people who did but my gaming group mostly consists of 40kers.

7. Necromunda – Goodtimes

8. Mordhiem – Ye olde good times

9. AE WWII – if I didn’t mention this matt and rob would kill me!

10. Various board game-like mini games such as Twilight Imperium,
Zombies!!!, Descent, squad leader and others but I don’t think they count.

Looking at this list and it become obvious that I am a GW whore L, I have Gorka-Morka, Epic and Inquisitor as well. I prefer Sci-fi above all else and the 40k universe has it all or at least some bastardized version of it. By playing all the subgames they can all be interwoven into a massive campaign, not that I ever had a gaming group that successfully did this but the dream still remains.

Games I want to play include Infinity, Heavy Gear, Hell Dorado and Warmachine/hordes so when I finish painting all my 40k armies I can justify other miniature games….LOL! A Sisyphean task indeed.

evernevermore (John) says:

I doubt Matt and Rob will kill you - they probably could use a lackey or a zombie, or a zombie lackey! to help them keep the release schedule on schedule.

Maybe another poll idea can be what games do you play using rules other than what they were designed for

Palumbo says:

Here is my little input…

1 - Warmachine and Hordes - Lets face it… Same game! :)
2 - Mordhiem - Love the flavor and the way your gang grows
3 - Warmaster - I don’t get to play this much… Once every three years or so, but I like it. Would love to try Warmaster Ancients
5 – Flames of War – I kind of got dragged into this game… But I enjoy it, but not as much as some of my friends. Wish they would jump to a second game like Samurai or Napoleonics already!
4 – Blood Bowl – I need to try out elf bowl some day
5 – Void – fun, but haven’t played in years
6 – Aetherverse – this was actually a pretty neat little system. Lots of quarks, but as a homebrew trying to go big it was pretty good.
7 – WFB – Once again, I haven’t played in years, but I like the block movement vice free form you get in 40K. Forces you to think a bit.
8 – After that… It all gets fuzzy… ;)

Looks to me like you can have a fair idea of how old/long the gamers have been playing by some of the items in their list.

Now that makes feel old, sigh!

For me the oldies are the goodies, but I only realised that after years of faffing about with newer systems.

But the new systems/games of today will be the old systems/rules of the future.

Magno says:

Pretty much in order. I consider model quality, fluff, but most importantly the mechanics and rules

1. Infinity: very tactical and engaging game
2. Confrontation v3/3.5: brilliant game, just needed more support to prevent mosh pits in the middle
3. Helldorado: another great skirmish game
4. Warmachine/Hordes: rules are good, but their tourney/league scoring and victory conditions via the scenarios are hideous. Their is a tremendous amount of tactical ability in this game and they squander it by encouraging/forcing aggressive play and who goes first.
5. Flames of War: fast paced with depth
6. 40K. This is only on the list because I only have direct experience with these six games. The rules of this system are so unstable and convoluted, it sucks the imagery right out of what is happening on the table and games take way to long for the amount of fun and thought you put into it while playing. I always feel like I’ve just wasted 2 of the 3 hours I spent playing.

Alkemy, Dark Age and Rezolution all look promising, but I’ve never had a chance to see the mechanics unfold on the tabletop.

Brett says:

5 Things I’m actually playing and enjoying:

Elfball (seriously digging this one)
Hordes (new convert)
AT-43 (big thumbs up)
Battlelore and
Command and Colors: Ancients (technically blocks, but with some time and Baccus 6mm, I could change that :D)

5 I enjoy but haven’t seen much table time lately:

Tannhauser
StarWars Minis (I need a mass combat version :D)
Blood Bowl (may be permanently replaced by Elfball)
Epic
Necromunda

And the ones I’m itching to try:

Infinity
Legends of the Old West/High Seas
CAoR (I’m in for a pound, but not convinced yet)
Alkemy
AE-WWI/SOTR

I swung away from TTG and into board games fairly heavily over the past couple years, now it seems the pendulum is coming back the other way :D

mikesilk says:

yslaire says:

I’m a bit late and it’s pretty difficult to find 10 games I really know for having played them at last once…

1. Hell Dorado : skirmish, very nice minis, excellent rule system
2. Warmachine/Hordes : some nice minis, excellent rule system
3. Warlord : very versatile system playable with almost any fantasy mini I have
4. Confrontation AoR : the fantasy genre offers more depth than AT-43 (more interesting habilities, spellcasters etc…)
5. Confrontation 3 : had some of the best minis ever produced in the hobby…
6. Mordheim
7. Anima Tactics : nice minis, true skirmish, interesting system
8. AT-43
9. Tannhäuser
10.Star wars miniatures

Not to mention :

No Quarter - because it’s free (and probably a huge job for its creator)
Chronopia - because figs are now difficult to find and a bit under the actual standards
Inquisitor : for the background mainly
Cadwallon : for the background (and the minis) too
Battleground Fantasy Warfare : not minis… But a great game system and very affordable :oP
