Trent used to joke around that if he won the lottery he'd buy 28mm scale epic armies for everyone - get them propainted - and then we'd rent out a gymnasium in a community centre to play.

The garden idea sounds cool... until it rains or your dog eats a platoon of guard or something...

Sorry Zac,

Nowadays I tend to treat GW with the vitriol that GW treat the poor smhuck? (in their view) captive GW gamer.

Sorry but it bleeds over occasionally.

Still right about Epic.

Outdoor gaming?!? Kinda like garden railroading but with gore and lots of shooting! I shall have to file that idea away and ponder some locations - there is a local Warmachine league that might like that and inch based battletech in a bonsai garden would be amazing to watch.

Over on Bell of Lost Souls there have been some posts about what will be in it datasheet wise - and it looks to be a mix of the datasheets online and some new ones. The nice change with that is the new sheets are supposed to be for all the armies - so the inquisition and sisters of battle etc will finally get some loving instead of just Space marines and chaos with a little ork and guard thrown in

$25 for a illustrated rulebook is not gouging. Let's be reasonable here, there are plenty of other things to grumble about.

Not that I care for the Apocalypse rules (or WH40K for that matter). But the models are nice, and if I had a sizeable garden & a bunch of chums enthusiastic about mass tank battles, I'd probably buy a couple of units to play outdoors in the summer. With Epic rules. I can really see them come to life when played with larger models than the 6mms which never got me excited.

It is more a general observation of GWs ever worsening business model.

Please try to keep your comments related to the news item at hand and not about tangential or ancillary issues.

well, let's add some sugar to this bitter pot... :)
Apocalypse had be awesome! I play every Friday - in reality all I've bought has been 3 baneblades - I had about 5K of tanks before Apocalypse was announced.

This NEW book is not a rehash, a re-release or a gouge... is is a resource for expanding the Apocalypse genre. I'm sure some of the on-line formations will be there, but it sounds like it will also contain NEW datasheets/formations.
I'll be happy to have them in a book, rather than blowing around loose!

If it going to be $25 over in the USA, it will probably be 12 quid in the UK... and $35 in Canada. So the Brit's really have nothing to complain about!

I'm not much into 40k these days, but this doesn't seem like a bad idea at all. They are continuing to support something that came out a year ago. This might generate more interest in it, especially for people who thought it would be forgotten.

While Apocolypse is kind of over the top, I think GW knows that the success of 40k is largely because of the models (i.e. 28mm). Its nice to see them come up with some different rules for people to use, which obviously aren't targetting the tournament crowd. It also honestly gives some people the excuse they needed to pick up those crazy forge world kits. If I was still an avid 40k fan I'd probably be all over this.

Epic A was great, but I think GW decided it would never be great, not because of the rules, but because of the models (i.e. 6mm). Nice to see some of it live on in Apocolypse.

I agree entirely with Stormwolf. I could care less about Epic 40k in 28mm scale! I'd much rather play Epic 6mm because frankly it just makes a hell of a lot more sense in terms of hobby time and the physical space required. The only reason GW came up with Apocalypse was to flog more 28mm scale figures.

It is more a general observation of GWs ever worsening business model.

This will be yet another opportunity for them to re-hash old ideas in a slightly different format. And I may add that although it will be 25 Dollars over in your neck of the woods, over here in blighty it will probably be £25 or possibly £15.

My comment about Epic still stands though! Apocalypse was such a silly idea that when it first came out I thought it was some kind of joke, but alas not!

Sorry for the rant but the constant gouging of its customers really has pee'd off this particular gamer, who no longer buys any GW products apart from the very occasional pot of paint (foundation are ace) and the odd paint brush (still my favourites).

Others still do, but this does not invalidate my opinion one whit!

Good luck with yours and I hope that this time all codices get an update before they release Version 6.

Not to be rude stormwolf but did you read the contents on BoLS? This is not a rulebook at all - its primarily a large collection of datasheets and hobby ideas. And 25 bucks barely counts as gouging in the mini hobby for books, especially from GW

Yeah, gouge the poor GW gamer for a new version of a rule book that is just about a year old (if that?)

So glad that I didn`t bother with this ridiculous idea the first time around.

They should have supported Epic/Space Marine better!
