  • Epic Eiryss details

Privateer Press have posted a 360 degree panorama of the upcoming Epic Eiryss figure as well as posting some fluff about the figure.

    From their website:

Eiryss has spent years cutting down humans who would profane Caen and her goddess with foul sorceries, but she has seen first-hand that the wars and magics of mankind threaten to destroy her people and her gods. Eiryss has returned to her lonely fight with renewed conviction and new tools to hunt and slay human spell-casters and their perverse machines.

Epic Eiryss is set to be released in August.

Ouch - the 360 makes this sculpt look even worse to me, the sculpting of the cloak looks like it is part of the base. And they gave her weirdly shaped breasts - but maybe thats just me

    LarkinVain (Joel) says:

I don’t know I actually like it better with the 360 sculpt. Doesn’t seem to me the cloak is part of the base but just on top of it.

    Dagorlad (Alan) says:

I sense a degree of fixation happening here. While I agree her breasts seem to have their own publicist, it’s not the main focal point of the model for me. I like the model and think it will look stunning on the battlefield.

I am wondering however, like others here, why she is perched atop a roof. It seems like a nicely modeled base, but doesn’t seem particularly well suited to a tabletop game (to me).

    Zac says:

I think that the house rule that all Epics need to be on a sculpted base is interesting but this is a bit too far and I can’t see how the base is going to look good on a gaming table.

I actually dislike these sorts of bases in general. The ones in the previous Epics have been okay but this is far too large and far too specific a piece of terrain to work as a gaming piece.

    Tacobake says:

that base is definately weird. Someone was left a little too free to excersize their imagination, me thinks.

but it is a beautiful miniature. Other than the fact it doesn’t fit in on the tabletop.

sorry, you guys caught my attention with all the breasts talk.

    gavroche says:

I too do not approve of large bits of scenery on a single figure base as it looks really weird when you move the figure round the battlefield. So, that’s a big negative for me. Especially since the cloak is draped over the base scenery, making it difficult to get rid of the brick pile she’s standing on.

Breasts look ok to me. Silicon overdosed of course, but this is acceptable on a fantasy chick. Not too fond of the harsh face which is no doubt a matter of taste.

    battlemind says:

A bit too far or WAAAYYYY too far? It’s no good as a game mini. Maybe as a collectible, but not an in-game mini. I’ll stick with my old Eiryss.

    Don’t they focus-group these?

    redstripe (Nick) says:

I think if it weren’t for the Mick Jagger lips, I wouldn’t have too much of an issue with the model. The huge sculpted base has got to go, too.

Whoever heard of a chimney gargoyal, anyhow?

    GrimDog says:

the face is horrible, she looks like a man

    Zac says:

Lets try to keep the critiques a little more constructive and less pithy please.

    gavroche says:

Well, Grimdog’s right to be honest. I thought the same thing, but remembered how much you hate it when people say that of a miniature & refrained from posting. Must’ve grown soft :-)

    Zac says:

Well, Grimdog’s right to be honest.

That is never the issue. I have said before that critiques are a good thing but short opinion declarations without any sort of details aren’t really all that interesting.

I think that the mini isn’t that great but lets be honest, it isn’t “horrible”. It is actually very well sculpted and the issue is a few details about the mini that are putting people off.

“Horrible” is an adjective you’d use for my sculpts :-)

The face does look very “manly” but I think that is deliberate. She is support to be haggard and worn from years of fighting.

Why this is then combined with a set of teenage boy’s fantasy “boobs” is really confusing though.

Aside from the face, breasts and base its actually a good sculpt but I think that there are some issues with it that make it less appealing.

    LarkinVain (Joel) says:

I may replace the chimney with a large rock. I think that would fit more on the tabletop. I will then keep the chimney to use fo some sort of terrain bit :)

    Marauder says:

I like the chimney, but it is an odd thing to have a model on, that is unless you have a roof-top terrain table. I think a stone wall might have fit better with the game - or as LarkinVain suggested a large rock.

I really like the Eiryss Alt sculpt I had pro-painted, so I can’t imagine I’ll be picking this version up unless her rules really synergize with one of my army lists.

    Zac says:

A broken wall or a pile of rubble from a wall would have been quite nice and very “table friendly”.

    Gatoulas says:

I quite like the sculpt (it looks kind of stealthy) and I don’t mind the big breasts. I love her long cloak (time for a little free hand design). The base is gonna go, though. I agree with LarkinVain, a big rock or a ruin of some kind would be better. I will probably put her over a part of a warjack wreck.
