The brand new Citadel Washes have been developed specifically for use on Citadel miniatures. Also included in the case is a facsimile copy of the first edition Warhammer rulebook. £100.00

oh my! I still have the ORIGINAL washes that Citadel put out in the late 80’s…
Given the decrease in the quality of GW paints in recent years, I’d recommend people picking up the P3 wash line. It will be a far super product if these washed go the way of the paints

    Trent McCaffrey says:

Hey GW, the anniversary edition includes the Errata, right? How ’bout a FAQ? ;P

    Zac says:

The P3 washes are made by the same company that made the old GW washses IIANM

    Doc says:

Zac - you are right - which is one of the reasons I’m switching over to P3 stuff (as well as the local store clearing stock at cost!)

    Jeffhiatt says:

I was kind of ticked off that there was nearly no warning of this. I was at my FLGS the other day and they mentioned that the Citadel inks were being discontinued and they were limited to what was in stock. I really wish that there was a little more lead time on this to allow people to stock up on the old stuff before it went OOP.

    tuco says:

If they allowed people to stock up on the old stuff, how would they sell the new stuff?

    General Hobbs says:

I disagree…the Citadel paints are better then ever. The quality has not gone down at all. If anything, the paint pots are better because you can actually open them! And they don’t dry out like the old screw tops. I knew about 3-4 months ago they were discontinueing the inks and some paints….the new washes are fantastic! I saw them at the local store, and they have great coverage and dry with no glossiness.

    Doc says:

I still use paint produced 15+ years ago… NONE of my “black top” paints lasts more than 3 years….

The brand new Citadel Washes have been developed specifically for use on Citadel miniatures. I guess I should stop using flesh wash on my CAV figures, then.

The P3 washes are made by the same company that made the old GW washses IIANM Are they made by Coat D’Arms? I understand they made the old (and best) GW paints (back when they came in pots with white flip-top rubber lids. I still have a bunch, and they work fine (15+ years later).

    Zac says:

Are they made by Coat D’Arms?

I may be mistaken but Coat D’Arms sold paint and washes formulated by a paint supplier in the UK and that is the same company that supplies the P3 paints and washes.

    Steel Rabbit says:

I dunno… P3’s coming in at one of my favorite paint lines but I’ve been using Citadel since the white-cap days, and with the exception of the ‘twist-caps’ of the late ’90s/early new millennium I still think they’re good.

For the person who had a problem with the ‘black-tops’ perhaps yours are twist-offs? Mine are the flip-caps, and I’ve had a few since they came out and they’re fine!

    T34 says:

I know GW has a very very bad, lame, crummy track record with paints (I too have been hoarding old time white caps) and such in the past 8 years or so, but these new washes are pretty amazing. Had a chance to try ‘em out and they are very close to what you’d get if you mixed up your own wash using Vallejo Glaze and whatever color you happened to need. IE, nice, smooth, and matte with no stupid shine. Plus the range of colors is very useful, having more earthy tones and stuff. I don’t have too much/any love for GW, but as a painter these washes are a definite buy.
