It would be nice to get the alt. sculpt of the Red Block Morale Officer...

I also miss Harbinger...I found out about Warmachine in their pages and have been "full steam ahead" ever since.

I think overall you could compare Ravage to a general WD or NQ instead of a general independent magazine. No objectivity in their critiques, but at least you get some sort of overview on things, and the rest of the magazine can be worth getting it.

Do they run advertising? My guess is that would always have an impact on objectivity - I know a video game related site had a few issues with one of their reviewers leaving/being asked to leave after a less than glowing report on a game from one of their biggest advertisers.

It's a very tough call for a publisher to make - personally I don't mind positive reporting, in fact I would do it that way if I had a mag as I'd be trying to promote the hobby and genre as a whole so wouldn't see any value in 'knocking' new releases.

I'd leave objectivity to the online community. It's easier to discuss things online - you can only ever make a statement in print which makes it very difficult to defend/justify against opposite opinions.

There is such a need for an independent English-speaking fantasy/sci-fi wargaming periodical.

Ravage is independent on paper, but every single of the review article they publish make you wonder about the reality of it. You'll be hard pressed finding something else but praises about whatever games they are analyzing, which kind of defies the purpose of an independent, somewhat objective review.

They still have some nifty painting/modeling articles though (although I don't know if it's in every issue), and previews straight from the miniature companies (not always accurate, but they aren't necessarily to be blamed about that).

Starplayer in France used to carry it as I have a few copies, so you could probly order it from them. Shipping will hurt though.

I don't think that Alliance carries it. I'll email the publishers and ask them if anyone in North America distributes it

There is such a need for an independent English-speaking fantasy/sci-fi wargaming periodical. Particularly one that looks so beeeeeeeautiful as Ravage.

Sadly, because WD and NQ have the proprietory market all sown up it seems the market isn't really large enough to make a paper magazine viable. Harbinger for instance, bit the dust a couple of years back through lack of volume sales.

Its a shame.

As for the alternative sculpts you get, can't you get these in the US direct from FFG? It's only us in the UK that have trouble getting hold of them :(

Its aimed at the French gaming market so its no surprise that they don't have an English version.

What is a shame is that no English publishers put out a similar magazine.
